Im curious to see how they treat the different nationalities and the world map thing. Are they going to have a map for Korea, US and UK or are we going to have to compete with them for dominance?
As for the weekend event coming up, I just wish we got new character slots for it (my impression was we use the ones we have, but I could be wrong).

That IS the female Ritualist. Look closely at her costume and you'll see the same elements in the male Ritualist. She's probably dual-wielding because her secondary is Assassin.

Hehehe, balance the teams please!
That is something that the ANET team will have to monitor and basically have to nudge people to one side or another. Otherwise it could easily end up like planetside with people prefering to play in certain areas and with certain people, but equipment played a role as well though in planetside. The tragic part is, that once one side starts to become "dominant", it becomes a domino effect as no one likes to play on the losing side.
This is also assuming that the established top ranked guilds begin to prefer this style of play over the classic gvg. Time will tell after the initial novelty wears off though.

If Anet follows the same business model that Magic has over the past 13 years we are going to be in for a very long ride.
With the new dual wielding for the assassin don't know how weapons are priced. If they come in pairs then that's fine but if each are different then we are going to see a huge price tag as each assassin will need 2.
I do see the dismantle of some guilds in the future. Now you only have 2 choices.

She isn't dualwielding. I can't see what's in her main hand, but she's definitely holding what looks identical to a blood artifact in her second hand.

i agreed with phades. The new expansion sounds cool with a large war map and it sounds more like a war between two factions or guild alliances (so far i understand). however, what is the distinction between these two factions??? I mean i understand the lore part of it but how about when it comes to gameplay??? Well there are no distiction then it is going to sound dull. If there are, then proper balancing must be implemented because there are going to be players who prefer a certain faction over the other. Dominance of number of either side will ruin the balance of the game. Besides that, if every good players are concentrated on a faction only and the other faction are joined with noobs. Then, this will also lead to imbalance as one faction is filled with good and veteran players and the other faction is filled with noob players.
This does not mean I have negative comments on 'Guild Wars: Factions' though because i feel this could a revolutionary felt by any MMORPG players as the fate of Cantha is rest entirely on the hands of the players and more strategy needs to be implemented in the conquest of territory. However, i really hope that they have included 1 vs 1 arena in the expansion as well

Damnit, I don't like the looks of either of the two new classes. Let's hope they make a good secondary proffesion then, that's probably my last hope.

Too bad there's no female Asssassin picture, since I love the Assassin idea, though, the male looks horrific.
And both female and male Ritualists looks strange, like those Kryta guys in the center of TOA, that look just as strange with their tottoos

Thanks for reproducing the article and finally getting a look at the Ritualist profession(1 male one female).
I may be having an Auburn moment and missing the obvious, but a few things leapt out at me. This is'nt a gripe/moan etc etc but an honest and open request for info.

Once Factions releases, guilds will be able to join together in "alliances." These Alliances will share a chat channel and be able to visit each other's guild halls. More importantly, Alliances will have access to a real-time map of the struggle between Luxon and Kurzick. By participating in "Alliance missions and "faction battles," players can take control of cities and towns and actually move the two nation's control zones.
"This is going to be big." Strain says. "Imagine being able to take control of a whole city, trigger special events, get access to exclusive areas, and work with allies to coordinate a huge global strategy to take over the world!"
|
It does read like guild alliances will be able to control sections of the game map, and obtain benefits from doing so.
Some clarification on how it will work would be hugely appreciated, as people(esp Guild Leaders) will want to plan now not wait til they get the shrinkwrap off
Now if it's the faction that holds a city/area that not too bad(two way favour?, every player in that faction will be able to gain the benefits.
One Question tho:
1. What happens if one faction dominates the world map in the same way as America did with favour for over four months. Will steps be taken to ensure this does not happen again?
2. Will players from different factions be able to meet up and play together in PvE, in parties or even as Guilds?
But if it's an alliance of guilds that holds an area then that opens a whole can of worms:
The first question I have on this is:
1. Will these areas be PvE also? I.e will there be a PvP version where control ebbs and flows but the PvE version is unaffected by what happens in the PvP version?
2. If I dont participate in the PvP version do I get the same benefits in PvE as tho I held a region with my Guild?
Now if this PvP version affects what PvE people see and do then the following would be very useful to know.
1. Whats to stop an uber alliance of Guilds Camping the most profitable areas(imagine the top 4 guilds in EU, Korea and America teaming up) . Or will cities/areas offer the same stuff thus making who controls it a moot point apart from bragging rights.
2. What about the little guy? People in small, PvE or with no guild at all are they going to be screwed? (e.g can't access Guild Alliance areas ever, having to pay full price all the time etc)
3. How does this gameplay meet the statement that "you wont need to touch PvP with a bargepole" Surely if you want the cheapest stuff, from the best areas you will need to ally with a guild that holds them which means PvP
I can see lots of internal struggles within Guilds over this. So it would really help if we could get some clarification
Thanks
Shan
