Default Preordering... Very Confusing

I'm not sure what happened with the first chapter, but seem to have it in my head that you paid a certain amount of money and got the preorder item key and some other preorder things. Then, when the game was released, you had to buy that as well, and transfer your characters and keys over to that. Am I correct? If not, could somebody informed please explain?

What I'm really getting at is this: Did you effectively have to buy the game twice, and will the preorder method for Factions be the same as it was for Prophecies?

No, you only paid for the game once. I purchased the preorder for $10, which counts as a deposit towards the full game when it's released. I took the preorder receipt back to the same store when I purchased the Collector's Edition, and they knocked $10 off the CE price.

I assume the Factions preorder will work the same way.
