Isn't it ironic...
You know, I've been meaning to make a 55 monk for so long now, and my friend kept bugging me, "Make one, they are good money, I got 90k yesterday!", and I tried, but I just couldn't play monk. IT WAS SO BORING. I ended up deleting my monks after Frost Gate! Oh my goodness, healing got SO BORING I SWEAR.
So anyways, I come across some random urge to make a 55hp monk, and I said I'm just gonna stick with her until she's ascended, then I'll feel like I have to keep her. Okay, that worked, my name in Guild Wars is Elite Existence, and she's my 55 monk (just bought Droknar's Forge Tattoo Armor, I'm so proud, you know, for regular health to heal).
Yeah, so long story short, I took out a loan and made her... Maybe I made her because SS / SV necro got boring... That's what I did for money before. But that's beside the point. So I have this 55 monk now, and I do my fair share of tanking in UW (I was able to do it first day because I used to SS nec as I said before, and I saw how you do it, and I've had a solo necro before who used same build) and I get my ecto every so often. BTW, 55hp MONK IS SO FUN. So, I get an ecto, go to ToA, and say "WTS ECTO: 10k"
I got spammed so hard I think the people started to see "message suppressed due to excessive messaging"... Man, people were screaming "LMAO NOOB, ECTO ISN'T 10k!" and me, of course, growing up with a SS necro during the time it was worth 10k, was like "WHAT?"
Long story short, I found out that I finally make a 55 monk, and it's just a few MONTHS too late.

So then you'd have to consider, what's your goal in the game? You mentioned a few times that the other classes were boring, but they netted you money. If this class is exciting but gets you less money over time, then which is more valuable to you? Do you want to play a boring class and be rich[er] than the alternative?
Or you can alternate both and meet a happy medium.
It's never too late to play something you enjoy playing, though.

I wouldn't say that was ironic; an unfortunate coincidence perhaps. I play my necromancer for the fun factor, if it was about the money I would've stuck with my griffon killing warrior as well... but it really was... boring.

It just goes to show... Don't trust your friends. Especially if all they do is farm the underworld. :P

Couldn't have said it better myself. I don't chase riches. I play to have a good time, and wouldn't you know I have a good time doing it.

yea I'll admit A pure healer monk is rather boring. a bonder is even more so... Nothing but energy management and little attacking at all...
I made a monk ele just so I would be able to play as a ele with it on occasion... My most fun character for gameplay is my ranger warrior.. next is my mesmer necro... and its quickly becoming my favorite...
I save my monk for farming (very little) and for large quests with friends when they need me in that capacity..

To OP lemme tell yah a little story. Oh about 3 months ago someone wanted some Stone Summit Badges and I did a tell to him saying I wanted 500gp each for them. Well he laughed and said they aren't worth 50gp each. I said well ok I have 35, I'll just keep them then. Then the funny thing happened, someone came into the zone shouting for Stone Summit Badges offering 1k each for them. lol Well you can guess who sold those 5 Stone Summit Badges and rubbed it all in that other guys face. I think I'm on his igore list now. (smile)
The point of my story is, whatever YOU think a price should be is fine, don't let others sway you into thinking THEIR way, if you do you are letting THEM CONTROL you. Sometimes people are impatient and you might run into someone willing to give you 10k for the ecto not wanting to travel or take the time to even goto a merchant. There's all kinds of people out there and not everyone is worried about saving 3k. And of course there will be those that cry you are ripping people off blah blah blah, just don't listen to them, if people did that in real life they would be kicked out of stores permanently. How many times do you go in a store hearing people running around the store telling everyone the store is ripping you off? lol I've never heard it or seen it. So, don't let these yaboo's bother you. (smile)

Tell you the truth I do belive ecto will go up (it has in the past and probably will now). You just got into it at the wrong time. buuuuuut, Deathqueen and Lasareth are VERY correct in what they say. Don't let people get to you and also enjoy the game... it IS a GAME after all... many people forget that.

LMAO! LMAOOOOO!!!!
Hey, dude, wow, for some reason, this made me laugh really hard...
Yeah, no I didn't. Your point? I didn't ONLY make a 55 monk for the money. I did it also because they are extremely fun to play. And, they are decent money (I made 13k in one hour yesterday).
You didn't bother to check the thread name? Wow.
The thread name is "Isn't it ironic..." as in, isn't it ironic that I finally come around to making a 55hp monk, and just as I do it, the ecto price drops to about 6-7.5k each. Jeez, this thread was meant to be sort of funny... something bad happens to me, laugh people LAUGH . I know I did once I had an ecto, and saw some guy selling for 5k .

You always check the material trader before selling something, prices some times change drastically overnight.
On the other hand, 55 monks are fun and you have not lost your money. How much did you pay for superior runes 10k each. thats nothing to what we paid back in the day.
55 monks farm and tank better than other classes, you can still use her and make your money.
Ecto is selling for 6-7k now so what, when you get it for free as a drop that means that you have 6-7k in your pocket.
Do not be greedy and enjoy the game.

I made a 55 monk once, Although. I don't have the button mashing skills in a game like GW to farm. Now pulling off a 15 hit combo in Arcade Tekken, thats another story.
