Default Annoying Ecto Sellers

Please check the price of Ecto on the vendors before you start selling them. At one point this week the price at the vendor had jumped back to 8 or 8.5. The vendor was buying them for 6.5k and I found people in TOA selling them for 6k????? Thank you for undercutting the already miserably low prices of Ecto. And does anyone know if Ectos are going to be used in the next Chapter? Thanks

its really not anets fault that they opened a good place for noobs to collect all the ecto they can get their hands on. I think it is crap that ecto is so easily obtained now. It has to do with those 13-15 year old kids and say OMFG DOOD LOOK IM RECH NOW I GOTS ME AN ECT0! and sell for quick cash at merchant...sigh, I guess you cant really teach everyone how to properly play the game ;]

Star Gazer, that's what the merchants are there for. People who value their time and that don't want to spam chat for trades have a way to get some quick gold. And as the NPC stock goes up, prices go down along with the player driven "demand". I'm sorry you can't impose your high prices on everyone, forever :P

well see, if people were smart about it (hint hint), noone would sell a thing to the trader. they would say to themselves 'hmm, didn't I see ecto going for 14k a couple weeks ago? I think I will hold on to it until they go back up to make ::gasp:: MORE MONEY!' i mean honestly, its common sense. i guess people just lack that

you fail to take supply and demand into account. if people hang on to it, they also run the risk of losing out if prices continue to fall.

anyway, the problem stems from the fact that there are no rare material traders in the outposts where you usually return after having acquired ecto. with prices as unstable as they are, it's annoying to have to tp somewhere just to check and tp back to make a sale or to buy. most people go with what they remember prices being the last time they checked.

I really don't know why people complain that the ecto prices are too low. I just cannot understand it. Isn't a reduced ecto price better? Isn't it good that these materials are now more accessible to 'noobs'? (Also, why are they noobs? Because they don't farm the UW and therefore don't have loads of ecto? Hmm?)

Can anyone explain this for me, please?

Thanks,

To the OP. I don't see why your complaining. Heck, if someone wants to sell ectos for 500 less then the rare material trader will buy them for then buy them from him. For each one you buy you get 500 gold profit for abolutely no work or hassle. How is that a bad thing? Or am I misunderstanding something here?

People spam "selling ectos for **** each" when buying from the trader is half what they spammed for. It is very annoying.

I always take the time to point out politely that sometimes their prices are wrong, a lot of the time I get flamed for doing so but sometimes the people are surprised and really quite nice about it. I have nice lengthy discussions and often close a trade on a completely unrelated item.

Gaile said that ecto will have a point in Chapter 2, so getting them for cheap is fine by me.

I always sell everything I get to the rare material trader. I'm not going to waste the time trying to find someone, who won't try to pull a scam, and is willing to buy it for the few extra hundred gold pieces that I could just sell it for. In all that time you could be spamming your sell message you could've just earned that back by joining up a group and playing the game.

Sorry Stargazer, I always sell everything worth selling to the merchants, including ectos and shards. I for one can't be bothered standing around some outpost or town yelling WTS ...

You sound about 13 yourself...

I mean you say people going into the new dungeon are noobs, you whine about ectos being too easy to get, then say they cant play the game properly just because they play differently to you. People with your attitude are usually kids.

OMG not selling to merchent? w8 till price for the items we keep go'e high o_O this is just a game the only thing I hear is not ecto but Greeed Greed, give me more, I want more, must have more. geeee and you guys say the 13 year olds are the 1 that are not playing it right??? lmao I think that in some way's they are playing it like it should be. They want to have fun and If some new player find a ecto he or she can sell it fast and get 5-6 k and buy a new armour or weapon so whay should they w8 for the prices to go up? I think that its you ecto guys that are keeping the gold value so low.

lol...it totally depends on what side of the spectrum you are on. when i first started farming uw I would immediately sell my ectos in TOA when i got back because i needed the cash. With this money i could go purchase things such as runes and other stuff that was more important to me being able to develop my character.

today ive been sitting around in toa spamming WTB ectos 6.5k each for the rest of my fow armor. its not worth my time to go farm them out since i have the money to purchase the rest of them. but now im buying them from people just like myself a few months ago when i was broke and needed to sell the ectos i had to make a few bux here and there.

no one is newb or not newb for selling, hanging onto ectos, or even buying them, it just matters what is worth more to the individual person at that point in the game they are currently at.

I love how you say that ecto is easily obtained 'now', as if it was hard before... When UW first opened, it was SO much easier to farm it than it is now, only most people lacked the vision to come up with the build for it. The thing that makes it 'easily obtained now' is that a few farmers came out with a nice build, and popped it up on the internet for the world of "13-15 year olds" (since you put it that way, I'll go ahead and assume you just turned 16 ) and then everyone started doing it.

This game is all about proper builds, and is MEANT to be 'easy' once you have the strategy/build perfected. It's certainly not ANET's fault that a couple people perfected a build and then EVERYONE started using it. They even tried preventing it (with the nerfed drop rate and added monsters,) but the smarter ones adapted, and fed it right back to the masses.

It's a game, if it wasn't intended for people to go in the underworld they wouldn't have created it. Just because you don't like how they do it doesn't make them any less 'proper'. Knock down the self-righteousness a few notches, hmm?

Gasp at the fact, but there ARE people that don't care for spending alot of time doing anything. Time is Money. They might not want to log into other towns to sell it, or have to bargain for 10 for minutes to get 500 more gold - So they just sell them for what they know will be off their hands in 2 minutes.
