I've got a little theory.
There's 15k version of every ranger armour expect leather, and that seems to be the base for the FoW ranger armour. There's 15k version of every warrior armour except Knights, and that too seems to be the base for the FoW armour.
I'm not exactly sure on the other classes but if they follow the same formula as ranger and warrior armour, a they all have a type of armour that doesn't have a 15k version, but instead is a base for the FoW version.

For all the chars i've made ther have been 4 sets of 15k armor. This goes for warriors also.

I have no idea what you mean by base FoW armor. But what I do know, if i'm remembering correctly, each piece of warrior FoW comes with one set of mods from one of following sets: dragon's mods, gladiator's mods and ascalon's mods. All FoW armor no matter the type, all look the same for any given class. This is the advantage of having it.

I see what your getting at, the FoW ele armour does look like the standard ele armour (I.E. none of the *mancer ones) for the female charecters. The Monk collector and FoW could be argued as well... but Necro's look completely differen't!

The 15k ascalon helm gives damage reduction, I much rather have a nice complete gladiator's then make it look like patchwork. At worse you could always hide the helm.

your stuck with a boot or glove with damage reduction if you use a weapon mastery helmet

By base I mean the base for the looks, what the armour is modeled after.

I wouldn't mind seeing a set of 15K Knights as there is a set of Platemail.

A 15k Chainmail set would be awesome. I was disappointed when I couldn't get a better version later on. Hell they don't even need to change the graphics, just put in the old graphics.

There are many duplicate sets.
Dragons > Platemale
Boncelace > fanatic
tormentor > necrotic
The list goes on.
I'm not sure why they wouldn't make a 15k knight, It was the best looking set of regular armor. Perhaps its just that they didn't want to waste time making more duplicates or who knows. But I would have loved to see a 15k knights. It would probably look something like dukes in piken square which would be pretty hot. :]

I know exactly what you mean. I've been expecting this set for 7 months now... They just have to use the one they made for Duc Baradin, which is great and probably the best looking set of armor for warriors, my opinion. I would gladly trade it for my FoW set.
And who cares that this set would be the exact stat replica from the ascalon armor ??? Never would I buy this set which is the ugliest in the whole game, again my opinion. And if u look closely at all the pieces of armor in the game, there are many doppelgangers when it comes to stats. Do not forget that some players favor both looks and protections, which is my case.
Let's hope...

15k Knights?
Eh.. I've never liked the Knights armor 'cept the tunic and boots. Can't stand the helm.

I'm pretty sure Guild Wars/Anet has always stated the 15k armors aren't done yet, eventually they'll all be implented someday... And they'll stop cutting corners (THATS RIGHT! MOST 15k ARMORS ARE JUST RETEXTURES, I WANT NEW MODELS!!! NEW MODELS!!!)
What ever happened to this armor http://image.jeuxvideo.com/images/pc/g/u/guwapc006.jpg seemed perfectly fine to be implemented.

I GOT IT, I FINALLY FIGURED IT OUT
i think anet realized they made a mistake making knights/ascalon less effective then the other armor types, they probably only made the 15k ascalon to keep all the newb wammos from rioting in the streets

No your completely wrong, there is a reason to have 2 armors that LOOK different but are the same, Why? you see theres these things in your head called eyes... eyes can see different things, some things look more apealing and some people like the look of different things better then others..
Now. Theres these people called gamers, some of them play a game called guildwars which you can get different kinds of armor... Some people like to look cool and badass.. Why?? because its apealing and thats just how the human brain works. Now do you understand why theres a reason?? Because they look different and some people "like" to wear a full set of armor, one that looks like knights armor. But maybe they'de like to spend a little more money and get a more unique version of it just like the other armors.. Hmmmm....

I wouldn't recommend knights myself. Decent players will discount you immediately sine you're wearing an armour thats essentially broken.

I mustve missed something. My warrior wears knights armor and is absolutely fantastic. In PuGs, I'm almost always the last tank standing (though I'm also usually the first one in), and I've even had people compliment me on how hardy (if you will) my character was, in Sorrows Furnace no less! Does this mean I could switch to another (not broken) armor, and be even more powerful? Cause that would be cool.
Main Question: What is broken about knights/ascalon?
