Alright, I HAVE to turn the chat off
The kids have even ruined observer mode with their babble. *sigh* I'll never know the joys of good old common chat again. You think it's possible to have say..... a half-million people in your ignore list? I think that's what it's coming to.

I feel your pain. I try not to add to the mindless chatter by just not talking... if only there were some way to separate the intelligent chat from the blabber.

I always have local chat turned off unless I am looking for a group or something. No need to see any of that crap.

I dunno, mebbe it'd just be easier to have it default to 'ignore all' and you can add folks you no longer wish to ignore. Seems like the list would be shorter.

Yup people spamming observer mode is annoying. The other day i watched 3 matches in a row and during each one the same guy was spamming observer mode asking for help with THK. =/

What I want to see implemented: "Jerk Tagging" ... i'll explain.
Whenever you are in a party with a jerk, a doofus, a moron, or whatever other adjectives you'd like to use, you can put their name on much the same thing as the ignore list, but the difference is: whenever you see them in towns, outposts, or in the party you're in, they will have a big letter "X" preceeding their name on the party window (or above their head in local chat) visible by you only.
I, for one, can't be bothered to remember all the people who i've ever grouped with that have done something stupid ... so something like this would be > ignore list, IMHO.
And if you fear the number of jerks would far outnumber the nice people: you could have the reverse as well for nice people ... which would be a big "check" mark in much the same fashion.
Hear me, ANet, and bring it forth to bear in the next update, plz

I get really annoyed when someone who just lost a game in GvG, checks back into observor mode only to do his commentary as to why they lost, it oftens include accusations as "teh team sux" or something of that sort....
Anyway, I tried to "ignore all" in real life... but then they call me delusional.

I feel you big time on this one. The matches in ob mode are sometimes replayed a few times, so all could see. One guy came in and started spamming who won it, untill they actually did.

I've actually been lucky enough to experience the opposite. Was watching a GvG, and 2 members of the losing guild were observing, and their comments were like:
"Their monk was awesome."
*someone comments of a particular opponent of theirs*
"Yeah, he really laid into us, and I never caught it. Lost my focus"
"Heh, here's where I die for the 5th time..."
"...and there's death number 6, lol."
It was good. Nice to know not everyone has to resort to childish retard behavior when they lose, and can step up and say "Yeah, we lost because I just didn't get my job done."
So kudos to whoever they were, I forget.

Everytime I've watched GvG and some of the players were watching too, it was just like this. Even if people from both sides were in there. It was cool. You had the chance to ask them why they did something or what were they thinking there. And they were nice about it. They weren't mad at each other or calling each other noobs either.
But yeah, I did have a few people in observer chat talking about the games today and I had to turn it off because they were starting to explain why the team lost. And I didn't want to know who lost yet. I actually ended up turning all my chats off, even guild because I didn't want anyone to spoil the ones I hadn't watched yet.

Join the club, I have been local chat free since November, I feel I would be a better person if I had only turned it off sooner.

lol ditto Ultimate, my local chat has been off and will stay off since about June. It aint needed. Get a group, chat in the group as you mission/quest, then if you get on well you can whisper each other regularly. Works better in the end and you don't have to put up with all the "WTS UBER ITEM" rubbish or, like i saw the other day in beacons:
"ANY GIRLS THAT WILL STRIPTEASE IN MSN WHISPER ME"
pathetic.

Which is why I have Team Chat on. But honestly, there is hardly ever ANYTHING in local chat which a person with above average intelligence might want to read...
... and yes I find it hard to ignore all that braindead trash talk in local chat - especially because there is never anything else going on there. This hasn't anything to do with being "asocial" - I still love to meet people online. I am just not interested in talking to immature and rude f-word users, that's all. Neither in real life nor in a game.
