One post was all I was allowing myself here, aside from the new necessity of explaining myself. Trust me, it won't happen again. Heaven forbid that opinions aside from the mainstream be given voice.

Uhm... what's wrong with posting in the other thread? You weren't banned from that one, were you?
And truthfully, the lack of information on guildwars.com is really appaling. They still haven't even announced how the pre-order process will work outside of the US.
Not saying it isn't, but people deciding to skip Factions because of such a reason is folly. Yeah, it would really help to know what the deal is, and I haven't the foggiest why Anet's being so secretive, but as I said, not really gonna stop me from picking up Factions.
I'm gonna take me a trip to the Undercity just as soonest as I can. I feel a burning desire to meet the vampires and werewolves it's bound to conceal XD.
Cheers, fellas. May us stupid, undiscerning pre-order package account mergers dominate the complaint-riddled masses from now until the End of All XP.
i will buy a regular (maybe CE) as a preorder depending on what is in both.
since i have loads of time i feel no pressure for the information to be right now.
will play it and enjoy it merged with even only one slot.
CKaz
what i want to know (with linkie) is the official source that says the CE will have extra slot(s) over the regular.
if it is not official why are you so willing to believe (and spread) unconfirmed rumors?

bah - plus it'll be oh so funny to see we have to buy the ce to obtain as many more slots as those not linking accounts, or even a further treat, still being 1 or 2 short even going that route.
that would be the same as selling slots which was officially stated as not in the forseeable future
I doubt there will be additional character slots on the CE of GWF. ANET has said on many occasions that they will not allow a person to have more in the game because they spend more money.
I just want to know if I buy the CE of GWF if I will have glowing hands on my characters that I didn't purchase the CE of GW1.
Lovitar - did you read the OPs post for starters? Just a rumor but since ANet can't be bothered to do anything but the PvP tournament and just put up information on the next one, still leaving us in the dark... what do we have?
LaserLight - I think its folly not to know more before purchase. That's great even 5 character slots total will do it for you. I totally agree it's sooo much better to have linked characters. I'm just not paying that much more to try and enjoy the new game experience (at about $50) penned in that tight.
A lot of things aren't known. Like if I want to play a prophecies class with one of the new classes (primary or secondary) what kind of skills can I get from the quests? We hear those only doing chapter2 will be gimped in some fashion, what I wonder is will we be forced to get these skills through just skill points and paying plat somewhere or will quests exist for the originals as well? If there are quests... so chp2 only players won't have access to these quests/skills but chp1+chp2 owners have richer quests/skills/reward options?
Will those wrapping up Cantha only be able to get to LA (not further back in Prophecies)? Again hopefully you can get your quests/skills through Cantha play, but say I wanted to be Ri/Mo, will I now actually miss Acalon for some of my skills (heaven forbid, I hate that area now, but gets the point across)?
There's mention of a 'longer pre-sear' in Cantha, so I'm gathering also our current characters won't be able to access that part of it, suggesting those class skills (and possibly some of the new skills for prophecy classes) may not be questable. Yay more skill point farming and gold sink fun. I'm guessing returning characters will mostly have to sign up at the Cantha's 'ember light camp' version to get most of what those characters might want.
If I missed answers to some of the above OK, but in general I don't there has been a lot on these mechanic details. And less than a week to go where you can get the pre-order box and we're still guessing about the BASICs here. I'm really really glad this is going to work for a lot of you and you're excited about it. I'm really really disappointed still such unknowns, still is the hottest issue for many of us, and this is how they treat their installed fan/gamer base - a lot of us haven't been able to get excited because of that.
What some of you don't still seem to get is many of us bought multiple copies as well - getting more people involved suggests tying up an extra pve slot you didnt expect maybe - is that really so hard to fathom? So 4 slots you have no PvP slot. Or some people want simply one of each main character class. Have you played many other similiar games where you can't do that?
Is it enjoyable to have to nuke long standing characters to make room to play the new content? Where a big part of why you're linking the accounts is to bring them over to the new content and play them in the new content? Or chose between using the unlocks with a PvP slot (arguably the biggest reason to link the accounts) and enjoying what you want to PvE?

CKaz, ANet is not here to answer to your friggen whims, quit whining

Have you ever actually known all that much about a game before it's been released?

If you actually read the information out there you'ld know the following.
Most of of the skills from CH1 will be in CH2, these skills are designated as CORE skills. Non-core skills will not be available in a standalone CH2 and there are about 25 of them for each class. Again, it's not ANets job to cater to you and worry about every concern you have, as such you'll learn what is and isn't core probably within a week of the release of CH2, though I wouldn't be surprised to learn some of them over the upcoming preview weekend.

See above for skill availability. If you only have CH2 (or install it as a new account rather than an add on) then your boat ride from Cantha will end at the Battle Isles, do not land at Lions Arch, do not collect 200 gold.

Both gold and xp are SIMPLE to earn, so I'm not worried about skill point / gold farming

None of this qualifies as basics, basics would be, can I play a War/Mo in Cantha? (Yes) Will my ranger be able to get a pet in Cantha? (Yes) What are the new classes in Cantha? (Assassin and Ritualist) Etc, etc, etc, what you want to know is to specific and there isn't a single game out there that you would know this sort of detail about months before it's released.

I have one main character that I play all the time, all others are expendable if I need the room.

It has already been stated that you will get additional character slots, hell that's why they changed the login / character creation screens, to allow for more slots. They just haven't said how many and anyone that quotes a number is wrong.

I wouldn't consider skipping an instalment, for whatever reason, folly. I'd rate it as one of the more insignificant decisions I'll ever make in my life. It's just a game; I have nothing more invested in it than in any other whimsical pastime. No skin off my back if I have to go shop for another one.
