I personally think the fear of nerfs is always taken way out of proportion. I do however believe that it is important to buff some skills when you nerf others. Part of the need for 'balancing issues' isn't just about correcting over powered builds, but also to keep skill setups changing. If this never happened, then PvP would be based too strongly on copying skill sets of more successful teams rather than building new origional and effective teams. However this is just my interperetation of what they are trying to do with it all. I could be wrong on this.

It would be interesting if there were special emotes or things you could do relating to your fame, e.g. type /glory could make you glow for several seconds and the intensity would relate to your fame or rank. Am I getting side-tracked?

Thats already how it is... Almost every skill has been nerfed for PvP, with the exception of a few that were being used to farm. Thank PvP for most upcoming skill nerfs.

A fame reset would be equatable with a guild ladder reset. Sure lots of high ranked players would be upset, but do the high ranked guilds get upset when the ladder resets? Of course not, they crack their knuckles and get to work on becoming #1 again. So if fame/rank is reset, the whiners would have a field day, and the true "players" would crack their knuckles, open their friend lists, and get to work pwning HA for the new "season".
Seems reasonable to me, that is.

Frog never said new changes on the 7th.
The frog does say:
"Changes this week"
"Ladder RESET on the 7th"
Those are two different things.

LOL. When he was talking about the person taking a time out that was my friend. So we all starting "protesting" it. He banned 2 more of us . Luckily it was all short bans though.
Anyways..interesting. Almost same repeating and senseless talking like he and Gaile almost always do though. I guess they can only say what they know but it would be nice if they say what they know and not anything else which will waste my time when i read trying to get to the stuff I want to know.

The Frog is also saying:
"There shall be changes in the game very soon, on the 7th of March, the frog believes."

QFT.
My guess is that the changes will come tomorrow if Gaile is speaking today, so people will learn of important changes right before they happen.

Wow no offence dude, but what rank are you?
Getting a guild to the top of the ladder can take a couple of days a week at the max, getting to R6, R9, or even R12 in PvP can take months, resetting it would be suicide for Anet.

It was a joke on behalf of Gaile/Frog.
To do anything with the fame system would be like nuking the PvP community utterly for a build that is not an exploit would be gaming suicide. Now they may change the way fame is worked out in Ch2 and thats fine, but with the existing fame points, after a successful and high profile GWWC tournament, nah.
|
Errm, they already do this, they do record every match, its where they base much of the statitical changes and modifcations to game. In fact even in future chapters as has been stated if im not mistaken over the course of several interviews.

I'm rank 1. RAWR!
And see that's the thing, man. Without starting the whole "IWAY killed rank" business, a lot of folks claim that rank doesn't mean much because where before it took a lot of time and dedication to get ranked period, these days it takes ~1-2 weeks to get a deer.
Resetting everyone's fame would give HA a fresh start, a clean slate. It'd snuff out elitism. It'd compel people to fire up their friend lists, build winning teams and get started on a new "season" of play. If the reset came a short time after the skill balance, and if ANet forewarned of such a reset, people would have time to learn the changes, build up their strategies, and be ready for the "go day".
If ANet can reset guild ladders, it seems to me they'd be perfectly within their rights to reset rank and fame. Naturally, it would most likely not be received well by the general public.
The silver lining, however, is appealing: no more elitism, no more "that guy is R6 and has no idea how to play anything but IWAY", and a chance for the true contenders to go out and make a name for themselves with a fresh start on the whole system.
(and, hehe, if the rank was reset, then we wouldn't see those W/R freaks of nature in late game PvE missions saying "STFU, I'm R6 U nub!")
I don't think it will happen, I just don't think it'd be that terrible if it did happen.

I say reset fame, lots of people know as of now that its pointless and means nothing
Actually either way I don't care, all fame means is some flashy Emote which really means nothing in the end.

1-2 weeks to get a deer with Iway????? Have you seen how bad unranked Iways are????? It would be close to 120 something matches for unranked 0 fame Iway to get a deer.
Don't mean to be a real jackass but get some facts straight.
