Funny story, darwanism at work...
I took my lvl 20 warrior down to nolani academy to see if anyone wanted help to get through the mission and bonus (the mission was a major pain when I was a noob, so I occasionally go back to help for free).
No one really was interested, but a got a whisper from a lvl 19 necro asking me "can you solo the mobs right outside the door"?
I said, yeah, that's not a problem. He wanted to go get the monument quest for that area, and I agreed to help him.
As we started the mission, I asked him, as a lvl 19, he should be able to just about solo this thing himself, but he said "well, it's hard to do when you only have 85 HPs".
Alarm bells went off in my head. Even though I suspected he was simply trying to get the -50HP quest item to solo far as soon as he mentioned the quest, that confirmed it.
Well, I agreed to help him, so he opened the doors, and I went out and slaughtered the charr outside. We then took off towards the monument.
We got up towards the area with the hidden burrowers, and the necro goes running off, agrroes about 8 burrowers and promptly dies.
Luckily, I had a hard rez with me. While he was laying there dead, I asked him - why do you only have 85 HPs? I knew the answer, but wanted a better explanation. He of course admitted he had five superior runes on. I asked him if he ever heard of having simply a second set of armor, and he said "yeah, but I'm kind of broke right now".
OK.
So, in cronological order, he goes and buys droknar's scar pattern set. Loads it with five superior runes, THEN goes off to try and get the -55HP off hand item. He's carrying a firey dragon sword.
Apparently the elevator in his brain doesn't go all the way to the top.
I rez him. He immediately runs off, aggroes more mobs, and again promptly dies. I'm just standing there (in game) watching this whole thing like it's a sitcom.
I simply left. I can't in good conscience help someone that is just that ignorant.
Anyone else have any funny stories about the "new breed" of players?

Pretty sure he wasn't smart enough to be trying to piss you off
That is too funny I would love to be with him for his first attempt at UW
That is purely assuming that someday he may actually get the -50 offhand?

Hmmmm. The monument is outside Nolani Academy, not in the mission, isn't it? You run out and kill all sorts of gargoyles, run up the stairs and grab the monument. I don't remember any burrowers around Nolani.

Yes, you are correct.
Maybe he meant Ruins of Surmia?

Heh... last night, Dragon's lair. Mo/W, dies once (quickly), pings "My Health is 1 of 1". Seemed everytime something broke wind he keeled over. Highly annoying. He left perhaps halfway through. There was much rejoicing.

The only borrowers I know in ascalon area is at Dragon Gullet . Maybe a mistake here. Instead Borrowers, just put Gargoyles.

Hehe, my own darwinisn at work.
We were doing RoF bonus and We grabbed the essence and started heading back to the Seer. Team member says "Only one person needs to go back".
I said "Yeah but I have a set of armor that I can go ahead and get infused." So while running from the gate I throw on my hideous Aero armor that I use for 55 build. I even said that I use it for 55 in team chat.
I start to cross the fire bed and die. It didn't hit me until after they rebirthed me what had happened. Stupid me should have waited to put on the 55 armor until AFTER I crossed the bed. We all had a good laugh at that. Thank god for an understanding team.

First, it was the nolani academy mission area. I told the necro at the start that I couldn't recall where the monument was (it's been ages). He said he knew, and that all I needed to do was clear out the chaar right outside the front door. I was too lazy to verify it's location, and didn't really care, it was his quest, I was just giving him a hand. You're probably correct that the quest monument location isn't located there, that wasn't really my problem.
As far as "burrowers" I'm talking about the pop-ups (scorpion looking things, beetles, etc) that are all over the place, outside of where the main chaar forces are located. If you're coming from where the bonus is completed (the bookstand) to the front door of the academy, there are many popup dudes around that area. That's where he died, repeatedly.
And the question of whether he was just "messing with me"...ummmm.....no. If he was I'd have hope for humanity.

I helped a guildie do Nolani and Surmia as a Necro MM, just the other day! Basically I soloed then while he watched.
ME: OK now, I'm gonna open the gate.
HIM: WHAT?!?!?!
ME: I'm gonna open the gate, and a bunch of Charr are gonna come through and probably kill you.
HIM: (long pause) Are you serious?
ME: Yep. You will serve me in Death!!!!! Muhahahahah
Needless to say things worked out well.
