I haven't played as an ele yet, so I won't comment on their issues with the AOE stuff. I do agree with the increase in monster intellgence. It makes for a more challenging game. Actually MoP works fairly well as a damager/disperser in PvE. If you get a group on your Monk, drop an MoP on somoene, hit them with dual shot, and the enemies will scatter, quickly. Plus you've already done a bunch of damage to them, and if any of them stays close to the MoP'ed target, you get more damage from it.
I agree that the monsters shouldn't stand there and take SS damage if they are not winning the battle, and if it makes things more difficult for some, fine, just change your build, or use SS to scatter your enemies, and to keep them from attacking.
I do remember my original thoughts with MoP, as most people probably had, back when HB wasn't Elite, but games change, and a new challenge is usually more interesting than the same old stuff. Now, if something is made too difficult I'm sure Anet will find a way to tone it down, from what I've heard much of the game has already been toned down from it's original difficulty.
