I'm looking for something new...
I'm looking to achieve a record in Guild Wars. Any record. I wanted to do a bunch of accounts filled up with a bunch of irons, but that would be too easy. Tons of ectos? Nah, they do that to sell money on ebay... I was thinking something along the lines of doing something impressive in Pre-Searing... Maybe a level 20? But there's already one. How about the richest? Anyone have any idea how to get rich in pre and who the richest person is at the current moment? I want to see what I have to beat.

The problem with that is that it would be too tedious to show off, and what's the point if you can't show off?

hm well...I used to do a barrel run in presear:
ascalon city->turn left (past gwen)->reach the water go right along the land untill you see the water drake->kill the drake-> look around on the other side of the stream (you should see a barrel->open barrel->proceed to dev cave->open all chests in dev cave (ignore the dev's crawling around)->repeat.
I advise you kill the skale broodcallers and river skale (a black dye once dropped for me from a skale).
HOWEVER. It seems that after leveling up to about level 10 it started to get less effective.
At level 10 I started to farm char across the wall (possibly the best way to make money in presear).
1. Pay someone to open the gate for you then leave so you can solo the char.
2. kill all char
3. repeat
simple isnt it
You could also make a lot of money off of the dye trade in Pre-sear. A lot of people trade dyes for dirt cheap prices in presear. I used to buy dyes then have a trusted friend hold them for me and on another presear char, I go into presear with all of my dyes. Put the dyes in my storage, delete that character, and ready it to go into postsear again.
Good Luck.

I think I have already seen a few people brag about having lots of money in Presearing and nothing to spend it on before. Why don't you try something better like Tyria's biggest human pyramid.

Or try: Help a new player every day to get to Lion's Arch THE LEGIT way (not through running).
You get friends that way.

and what do you hope to achieve from this "record" how will you know its your record, without knowing someone already hasn't done it. there are no logs kept of any sort. so whatever you will be your own personal record for youself. say getting 100 ecto or 500k. try and just make up stuff you want to achieve but getting a gw record, is highly unlikely.

I think the biggest thing here is to examine why you want to post some 'record'.
A record held in Pre-Searing would just be kinda sad. It's like the 20 year old who hangs around with the 15 year olds just to impress them with how 'cool' he is.
I agree with the person who said you should try to help people. What's better, a small number of people remembering you in passing for some silly record or a select few people remembering you for their entire gaming experience and calling you friend for the legit and useful help you gave them?
I'll take the latter.
I still have people on my friends list who are now on their 4th characters whom I helped fight to Sanitarium on their very first character and they still remember that.

Well you could do one of two things. You could either hybernate until Factions comes out, or stand up, and walk out into the sunshine. I recommend the sunshine; plenty of Vitamin D.
