Wait, didn't they just add some extra scarabs to the griffin farming spot? Not the entire Prohets Path? Didn't see any new Scarabs in the first part, these were here all the time rite? Or am I mistaken?

I agree with that point. I played all the way through the game on my first character (the hated w/mo) and finished all ascension missions. I did not get any of my characters run until my 4th. Also, new people to the game arent going to have the money to buy a run unless they have been playing the game long enough for them to have a reasonable grasp on the mechanics. Noone gets that far with 60% dp.

Ponit taken. I was being too specific, taking only my e/me into account. Thus I hate blessed griffons - > spell breaker.
Hydras==griffons - yeah mostly if u don't mind/interrupt meteor when there's 4+ of them.
Just from my class point of view...

No, there's no new scarabs just outside of Amnoon.
But this makes the Necromancer's Path quest a tad bit harder.

Forcing people to get run? How untrue. It is no more difficult to get from one place to another in the desert with a good team that plays together, and plays carefully. It is just the multitude of either unknowing or lazy GW players that think the only way to get around in the desert is to get run.
To the O.P.: if you are frustrated that you are dying too soon, how about doing it with a full party? That's what this cooperative game was meant for.

There are scarabs right after you use the first teleporter outside of Amnoon, and basically all over the place after that. The primary concentration IS on the path to the griffons, but they are scattered about now (even where the cluster of minotaurs are).

I'm glad that there actually is attention form Anet to change things in the gameworld to make it more challenging then before. replayablefactor 10
this is why i like the scarabqueen change.
and indeed runners are prob the cause that thunderhead is actually one of the most difficult mission in the game because of the stacking runees over there. properly levelled and skilled players come in a party with (at least) 1 of those and the mission is done for probably.

I haven't seen a non-mission area yet that couldn't be done straightforwardly with henchies. In the hard ones you die and get rezzed a few times before you make it to the new spot on your map.
When I get to a new area (almost none left for me, actually), I often just stroll out the door solo, see what kills me, and draw a couple of conclusions about my build that way. If it's obviously not soloable, I go to the other extreme, take a full set of henchies, and head out.
In most cases, I've made it on the first serious try.

Jade Scarabs? Bah!
This area has always been difficult. I took my first 4 characters through the game, without running (except to drok's, couldn't justify spending gold on something I was going to replace with more expensive-and all my runs were free).
Now, for those saying, get a group....Have you ever played a mesmer? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
My poor little mesmer did almost the entire game with henchies. I learned early on that no one would take her. If I wanted a group, I started it. I was the leader more times than not with her. And this was wayyyy back in May.
Scarabs take some finesse, or you end up dead. Dead, dead, dead. Lina is no help, she doesn't have hex or condition removal (Hint hint Anet). If you're new to this area, even if you are level 20 (which I was with 3 of my characters), its intimidating.
I haven't been outside Amnoon recently (I hate scarabs), so I don't know if its worse than before or not. I guess I'll have to go check it out.
Oh, and for all those saying yipee, those 55monks are gone from Augury- Have you been to Drok's recently? Watch the door to Talus Chute.

I've played a Mesmer, in fact it's the only other character I've taken through the game, and I'd still say "get a group" ^_^
But I agree, it's intimidating, and it should be. Please remember the following when you judge those of us who are saying "running is for the weak."
Lina hasn't been in Amnoon forever, and Scarabs didn't use to have this few hitpoints. If we wanted to do it, it was against tougher scarabs then this and with 1 hench monk. Generally, because there were so few player monks at the time, you couldn't buy one if you wanted to. Hex removal or not, 2 monks are still better then 1 at lvl 17ish.
So to us, newer people to the desert have it easy in comparison. That should explain why some are coming down so hard on those complaining about the slight difficulty increase.

It was a nerf in that it hurt many people source of income. Due to the economy being in a rather broken state right now, many people are forced to farm to get the stuff they want.
As it is, no farming (for items or money) means no half descent items to use. Untill Anet actually gives monetary rewards for missions and quests, farming is a must.
The strange part is that those affected by the nerf, don't opt to adapt a new build and move to a new area. One could argue that Anet would just continue to alter areas to stop farming and force grouping. Any forced grouping would cause me to up and leave, I did enough of that junk in EQ. I'll group when I want too and when I'm in the mood to either 1) baby sit henchies or 2) hear 13 year olds whine about dieing when they pull four groups at once. Other than that, I'll group with my guild and have a great time.
Farming = money and gear
anti-farming = ticked off players
forced grouping = ticked off players
ticked off players = different game
I, however am thankful for the nerf. It caused me to find a new area in which I actually doubled my income rate per run. So I'm happier for it.

Wow, so you mean it actually forces you to be good at the game to get through it?
Imagine that.
No complaints here.
And I've never "farmed" for anything, but at the same time I have never really been in a tight spot for cash. (I do go on the odd Oro run every now and again, but it's not exactly a griff run). I get all the money I need for things by just actually playing the game.
And this is coming from the guy who has a set of 15k Enchanters dyed Black, with an extra 15k chestpiece because I couldn't decide. Also dyed Black.

Nice
I just got all four of my characters 15k armor thanks to my new run. Would have started working on FoW for my mesmer (I like that armor) but figured I would just wait for Factions now.
I have to also add, that I didn't use to farm anything. In fact I was against it. Never farmed in any of the other online games I played. It's boring, and still is boring. However, I also got tired of just playing through and having the same old stuff I just happened by. So, for me, it's a choice, and in that choice to have what I want (and that means to have fun) I have to farm.
As for the nerf making someone be a good or better player... that's silly. I can't see how any nerf or change makes a player any better or any worse. They either adapt or give up. I simply changed secondary professions on my warrior and am happier with it anyway. Wouldn't say I'm a better player for it though.
