Might help if you explain what Thottbot is.
Closest thing for Guild Wars is probably Guildwiki.

yes, guildwiki

unless by using thottbot you mean't a resource created and used by farmers and information gathering plugins that are against the EULA.

wait, what?

you must have thottbot confused with somthing else, because if it were against the TOS, it wouldn't be around...for those who aren't sure what it is

IGE owns Thottbot. And everyone knows who/what IGE is, right?

IGE is a Gold-For-Cash company. They've gotten some serious flack from gaming companies lately, and rightly so, IMO.

What on earth are you talking about? Thottbot is a resource database for world of warcraft. IGE is a completely different entity entirely.

What amazes me is that WoW players manage to convince themselves that using thotbot isn't "cheating"... even though they're basically playing with a walk-through & map & item/location database.

Honestly have seen nothing remotely close to Thott for GW, simply because of the massive amount of data they have compared to anything that wiki could deal with. Their spawn maps etc, the fact that their data is fed in virtual real time and the fact that it's on a TON of servers vs. one it's got a lot of horse power.

How is that "cheating" actually? They could just as well ask someone in-game or make note after each kill and then calculate drop rates etc. - but honestly, why take the hard way? It's like players checking informations about bosses elite skills, instead discovering it on their own - do you consider that cheating as well? Last time I checked, cheating was *unfair* advantage - now where exactly is that unfair advantage in using publicaly available website?

Pff, yeah right. There are thousand sites that can infect your computer with malware. I use thott for quite a while and I have yet to have any problems with "spyware/trojans".

Really, some arguments GW players use against WoW are just as ridiculous as WoWers use. You don't have to like game, but claiming that it's "database fansite"(or however you'd call it) is source of viruses is just pitiful - roughly on the level "GW sucks because it has no monthly fee".

I'm not sure if Guildwiki is like thott - seems more like wowwiki(well, duh) - then again, that's because of different nature of game

I didnt say it puts viruses on your computer. But why do you think thottbot often gets blocked by firewalls/etc. It does not have harmful stuff(for the most part), but that doesnt mean it has nothing.
