Just a thought...
For some reason... Damn...
I just hope I don't get flames for this because this is my own personal opinion.
I was playing guild wars today and then suddenly stopped...
and realized.. this just isn't any fun any more.
I mean... the pve is absolutely useless for me.
And the pvp was great.. for a while. I'm a good player yet I can not find a group in HoH.
No decent guilds except me because I have no rank.
I am rarely able to gvg because of my small and struggling guild.
And with that said..
There is only two places left for any kind of fun for me.. and that was random arenas and team arenas.
I got so aggravated at all the jerks in random arenas. It made me so angry. I thought.. well.. I better move up to team arenas.
I did.. and I easily held my own in there. Then I thought after a while..
I payed 50$ so I can play in one damn arena which gets boring after a while.
I mean.. what I'm basically looking for is more pvp content.
No.. not more classes.. imo the classes are fine now.
More arenas.. more maps to fight on.. options for decent players that cant possibly get into a group in HoH..
and most people can't find a decent guild that has mature active members who are serious about pvp and gvg.
There are to many downsides..
Why can't there be massive battles where everyone can get in.. not just gvging.
One side holds the castle.. while the other attempts to break in..
I know lag would be there but I know it's possible at some point.
I've heard World of Warcraft has this kind of thing with massive battles.
But #1: I do not! I do not! Want to spend half my life to get there. I do not want to farm for hours and hours for a decent set of armour.
if GW could hopefully incorporate massive battles and more arenas that are different and unique..
then they can have me back..
but currently.. I'm not going to World of Warcraft or GW..
I don't know what I'm going to do in fact..
I've heard factions is going to have 16vs16 matches.. that might intrest me a little.
I'm sure someone agrees with me. I started my pvp only char and I see the few spots on the map were you can actually do something..
Basically.. they need to get it together and do something for the pvp side of things.. massive battles.. anything..
but you have to admit.. team arenas does get boring after a while.
peace

I got bored with it for awhile but some guys I knew on IRC bugged me to pick it back up. Never got to play with them but I'm enjoying the game the second time around.
If you are looking for a guild, try to find a smaller one that's foruming or recruiting. I know there are about 1000 or so in the GW database. I'm sure some of them would take a non-ranked player. As long as you are friendly and don't do anything to piss someone off in PvP (like charging in with you monk and daring them to PK you) I don't see why they wouldn't accept you as a full member after a run or two.
Massive battles would be nice. I'm not sure about 16 vs 16 unless it was two groups pair up, but I'd like to see a grand melee of 4-6 teams of eight being dumped on one another from the get go.

Well, yeah, in WoW the PvP is badass, and you don't have to farm for hours for decent armor. I diddnt have to, anyway.
I could only suggest trying a new game, going outside, or reading more about Factions. If I remember right there seemed to be some interesting stuff about the different factions battling for control of certain towns and such. So maybe that'd be some fun pvp.
Hopefully the preview event gives us some free levels so we can check out stuff like that.
Anyway, goodluck!

Well if the prices of things weren't so crazy, maybe ANET would reduce armor costs so we wouldn't have to farm for hours.

I thought the OP was reffering to WoW taking hours to farm for decent armor.
It doesnt take hours for decent armor, if decent is Drok's. But for Grotto, Citadel, yeah, it sucks, but nice when ya get it

I loved burial grounds... except for the name. I think that was my favorite PvP arena. Multiple teams going at it, sheer mayhem. In fact I'd like a team arena just for that. Oh and just imagine a 4-6 way guild vs guild fight!
If they could find away to put a large number of teams in a smaller arena, that'd be even better.

Just a thought.... Why don't you name your thread something that has to do with the actual content of it. That way, some of us won't have to click on it to find out how senseless it is.

OP, I felt that way too, just before the Sorrow's update. For some reason I felt obligated to log in and do things. I took a break for about 4 months. When I logged in one day and found a whole bunch of new things to do and new people in my guild I started enjoying it more. Sometimes that happens to people, ya know? You get bored, move on and maybe something spurs you to come back. I'm having more fun now than I did before I left.
On another note, how which is more senseless, one person posting their opinion, or wasting the time to complain about it when you have nothing constructive to say? Just a thought....

Yes, you have a point right there, in the middle of that sadness...
* PvE lasts as a dollar bill on a casino. IMHO, Anet underestimated PvE hardcore fans: they kinda thought they could gently walk all PvE people into PvP with a simple and smooth PvE walkthrough, but no.
* PvP is "fun" if you swallow the [broken rank system] pill and L337ism until R6... and I'm not so sure about that (Talk to you later when i get Wolfie =).
* RA and CA are like life and we know life is like a box of chocolates.... You never know what you're gonna get (You were right, Forest).
* Small guilds will tend to fade away... if you look at Factions.
If you could cope the grind and the PKing, NcSoft's Lineage C4 would be a dream for you... but you don't want to spend your life getting a pair of gloves, so bad idea.
I've seen an interview on Jeff Strain when asked about the possibility of porting GW for consoles and he said "We go where gamers go..."
They do see these forums, so letting them know what you'd like to "go" with GW is step 1.
We don't know much about Faction War system on GW Factions, so it's too soon to bring the subject into consideration... Cornerstone here will be GW Campaign III: 2006 has some cool MMO games coming, competition is heating up.
Meanwhile, you have a game that displeases you, so lets look some alternatives:
* High PvE content: a full party can have a fun time in UW/FoW/Tombs. Get your guildies there and complete the missions/quests if you haven't.
* HA PvP with your guildies: as someone pointed out, playing with crappy PUGs annoys anyone :/
* Expand your guild: while managing a guild can be stressfull and a real pain in the rear, making it stronger in PvE knowledge and PvP coordination opens doors. And if you really-really want a challenge, form a guild yourself ^^.
Peace.

I completely agree with the OP on the lack of arenas for smaller guilds. At the time I've played GW (since release), I've had around 8 or more different guild changes. Most were either inactive or 'not pvp ready' groups. For almost a month now, I just stopped playing altogether and frequent the forums in hopes of better pvp variety.
Gvgs seems to be lacking. My old guild iwayed to the 300s. We went from rank 3000 to the 300s in 1 day! Though, we did play around 10-15 matches that day and most matches were consecutive wins, our rank tells me gvg activity is weak.
My guild eventually died off from leavers and inactivity.
Hopefully Factions will introduce pvp modes for smaller guilds or do something about player matching.
As for 16v16, I can only imagine how wide of a gap between elite and newbs will increase. Considering this game is heavy on teamwork and skills complementing one another and player rank, the idea will push players further from participating.

So you didn't play the campaign portion of the game? Needless rant imo.

Hey I didn't really read the original thread post because there was a space between every other line, making it even huger than it should be. Basically though, the game's been out for a while, of coures it's gonna get frickin boring and totally not fun. I feel this way every once in a while. Big deal, just do something else for now then. Anet has been trying to draw it on as long as possible by adding new farming spots but this GW is dwindling. Doesn't matter though. Factions is gonna be here soon enough.
