exactly.
This is why I think green items were a GREAT idea. Yea I lost some gold over it and I always have the occassional person going "i'm not paying that much, I can get the green for 10k" but that doesn't bother me as much.
The point of this game is to have fun, not rank on the Guild Wars Fortune 500e-gold rich charts.
Frankly I have a problem paying 500k for a weapon that looks slightly different and does 1% dmg more than a 10k weapon. But then again that's because I dont buy gold off e-bay and I have to play for all my gold. Therefore, 500k takes me sometime to earn in the game and if i'm going to drop it on one item, it better damn well kill everything on the map before I'm even done loading. Well....maybe not that bad, but you get the idea...I think crap is way too overpriced as it is and that's just giving more reason for the kiddies to use ebay accounts and buy 3mil of gold.
I say bring on the greens. Hell, bring on the pinks and reds, I don't care.

Well, all i really hear is how greens have destroyed the price of everything, and that so many "rich" people have become poor. But for most of them, the value of their items to the value of everything else has stayed about the same. I don't mind other people being unoriginal with their greens, it just makes it easier for someone who cares to be original, although rare weapons have become a little too common. I dont care about greens, but wish they kept certain items rare. Things like fellblades, chaos axes, storm bows. At one point it was incredibly hard to see one (a good one) but now theyre everywhere. People bitched about how hard it was to get a perfect sword, 15>50 req 8 long swords selling for 600k+ But then when someone bought one, they wouldnt run into 40 other people with the same sword. They made collectors for poor people that want something perfect.

I think the shield buffs were alright I mean a -3 10% wasnt that great at all I think it needed buffed... still a -5 20% I wouldnt prefer it... mabe its just the -5 people see I would still rather have the conditional b/c most the time you meet the condition... I mean -2 all the time is a lot better than -5 20%.

Yep, now -3 with 10% drops as a blue, yes blue item.
Anyhow, I think the game is getting where anet wanted it to be:
1. max weapons for players at reasonable price, to avoid elitism etc... etc...
2. keep rare, uniw skin rare so people who have the money (ingame) still have something to crave for, thus distinguishing them from many others
Let's see.
How many req 8 15^50 chaos/sephis/serpent/dwarven axes are there? Many, but you don't bump into some1 who has it every five minutes.
How many req 8 15^50 ivory/mursaat/flesh-skinned/etc bow are there? same as above.
Do you my point?
And of course there isn't a green for every mod combo. So gold weapons are still good, but they dropped to a resonable price in most cases.

the thing is guild wars was made to be an equal game for all, noobs, rich, everyone. what need was there for greens.
a 13^50 weapon costs much much much less than a 15^50 weapon.. why do you need a 15^50 weapon anyways? for that 1-2 extra damage? if that bit of extra damage was considered 'unfair' (which it shouldnt considering the effot required to get a 15^50) then those 'noobs' areanet is helping should suck it up imo.. just because your new and cant have a perfect 15^50 sephis axe doesnt mean you cant be effective in the game.. i dont see the reason for greens still like i said before.

Personally I don't like greens either. They depreciate the value of perfect golds. But we have to keep in mind that many GW players are casual players, and hence do not have the time to farm for these items. And since they're the customers that ANet is targeting primarily, ANet will cater to their needs first.

I agree very much so that greens have ruined many things. Need a weapon with a 15%/max dmg mod, but lack the funds? Ever heard of collector items? -_-'
Nowadays, nearly every single damn gold that is dropped is almost guaranteed worth near nothing because of green equivalents. Even the almost perfect weapons with common skins ... who'd want those when you could easily buy a green with the perfect ugprades for only a bit more, and acquire a better skin too?
But enough bitching, one thing that could be done to improve the situation, imo, ~ Keep the greens *away* from the rare skinned weapons. (Think Victo's Axe/Shield, Razorstone, etc)

plus WHY do you need a 15% weapon? 14% 13% are all the same, with the exception of that 1-2 extra damage. either way thats what customization is for.
and for staves.. the extra %? its all chance.. nothing significant to affect your game play.
