i could really care less if they implement 1v1 for anyone, but i would really hope they added 1v1 for guilds for testing purposes. I mean, you would be suprised how often ppl 1v1. Even if its 8v8, the mesmer might have a main job of shutting down a monk. Test different builds and see how well they work. Test the mesmer skill at shuting them down, see how a warrior fares against a blindbot, what to do, what flag running builds work and can solo a criple shot ranger or a warrior. It would be really beneficial for testing purposes.

1 v 1? Couldn't happen soon enough. Guildwars is balanced enough for this to be a reality. Just pray that you don't just see X/Monks as the only combinations. I know that there are many many people that are clever enough to use different combos and that they will. I just hope that the "general public" use their brains to enrich Guild Wars' viable builds.

For testing purpses it would also be useful...is factions including a practice type function for your guild? Where you practice against your own guild? I'm sure there are more threads about it out there, but it only jsut popped into my mind again.

I fully support this, though I have to say:

It will be HILARIOUS to see how many battles in a row a 55 Monk can win because people won't take enchant removal. LOOL.

1v1 should not be restricted to guildies only, that limits opponents, it should be just like the random arenas and another like team arenas where you choose your opponent. What guilds need is the ability to form henchie opposition guilds they could use for testing builds right away.

The ability to form a henchie party to oppose your guild would be nice. As long as you can choose the primary, secondary and the skills they use, it would be useful.

I'd suggest no faction as well (tho the normal 20 would be OK if need be)

basically to test things out or fight duels [so you'd have to group to do so]
random 1v1 seems utterly pointless - what are you testing?
your build can handle *anything*? good luck with that paper rock scissors..

allows for testing, allows for duels, not guild only, random pointless IMO
but sure if they want to toss it in why not, more options I suppose

the training area is nice but a lot operates on an *active* opponent

As you enter a Unrated Guild Battle you type in the name...For the 1v1 you just type in the name of person in the guild-hall. It is also another way to "recruit" (by testing other people by guesting them in and 1v1)

It would be purely for tests, nothing more. No faction. It will be like Zaishen Challenge, the first one, when you win/lose you go back to the town everytime. But in this case it would be to the guild hall.

Dueling may seem fun but I think its actually a torture if builds like Stance Warriors meet one another. Or perhaps, 55monk dueling with another char with insufficient enchant remover...

So do shatter enchantment..but thats not the point. Another example is W/E or W/Me meeting Signet of Midnight/Blinding Flash, the battle would be quite a torture too. However, 4v4, the teamates somewhat make up for each other's weakness even if its a comp arena. In 1v1, theres bound to be alot of unending battles or one sided fights.

1vs1 wont be any kind of competition... its obvoious that a 1vs1 wouldnt be balanced as the game is not meant for it...

I don't have any opinions as to whether or not it should be in the game or not. But, In the old D'Alessio Arena (I miss that place, I like'd it better than the new random arenas) There was a guy (some Zaishen monk or something). If you talked to him one of his last sentences was something like "One day we may meet in hand to hand combat" So in my opinion, he hints that 1 on 1 may come one day. He appeared a little before the implementation of the battle isles.

This has got to be the dumbest post in this thread. Using the name of a game to make an argument.....yeah. You realize it's just a name right? And that just because it's called "Guild Wars" doesnt exclude everything else that isnt a Guild or Wars right?

As others have pointed out...what about Random Arenas? Or even Team Arenas? Those aren't "Guild Wars" And maybe we should get rid of PVE entirely since that really has nothing to do with Guilds or Wars.
