There's a very small part of the game that requires a guild, although it helps with a lot of things. If they continue to add more guild only content, that will still be a very small part of the whole package.

Think of it as added content.. nothing was taken away from you, and if you want to participate in guild only content.. join a guild. The content is going to be geared towards groups of people anyway. So even if it was open to you, it wouldn't be your thing obviously. So what's the problem here?
I just cannot agree with you.

1)You say that there's a very small part of the game that requires a guild. That wont be the case in Factions.

2)You say that The people who interact with nobody and just do their own thing have much less incentive to continue playing. Not true, and I know quite a few people who are guildless, and havent stopped playing since the game came out.

The only thing that I have to admit, is that unless one joins a guild that has an age requirement and good organization, they have NO GUARANTEE that they wont end up with griefers, "napoleons", and other such types.
I was guildless on and off before, but I found a good guild recently, because I actually "got off my ass" and did something about it. I posted in correct forum, and guilds replied. Surprisingly, people wanted me to join with them!
I am now in a well organized guild, with friendly people, who actually DO THINGS TOGETHER.
I have NOT ONCE had any grief from any of my guild's members, and we have many, many people. I am quite happy now. Thank you, XoO.

The reason why I am defending the guildless, is because I know what it is like to be in their shoes.

Pick your guild carefully, and make sure there is a match with what you expect from the game and what the guild does.

Yeah, I know, but this last one is based on nationality rather than game expectations. Since I live in a small country with proportinally small GW community it seemed a big deal. Now I'm on the verge of quitting.

GvG-ing with hechies, no comradeship, laughing at top-lvl guilds -infinite degrees of immaturity.

Ah hell, I'm quitting right away!

I've asked Gaile several times during her Lion's Arch visits what the status of guildless players will be, and my question has either gotten lost in the kiddie-griefing, or deliberately ignored.

So, has anyone else heard anything regarding the status of guildless players and Factions?
Just make a guild for yourself

Actually, we don't know that for sure yet. It's still unclear (to me at least) whether the Elite content everyone is talking about requires you to be in that particular Guild or just Faction.

I stand by Faction. Anet has better access to the numbers than we do; they know how many PuGs make it through THK on a given night and they know how many guilds are capable of Competitive PvP based on the number of people in that guild that are online at a given time.

Penalizing soloers is the same as penalizing small guilds/less active guilds/anyone who has a life outside of GW. There will always be a need for PuGs. Unfortunately, that also means that...there will...always be a...*ugh*...need for PuGs.

That's what I did. Just me and a friend belong. I got sick of being whispered and hounded, and I don't want to feel like I have to play a certain number of hours a week. If you don't PvP or don't PvP much, I don't see the advantages to belonging to a guild.

I dont know that ANET will do much about this problem, the game is called Guildwars after all, that could translate to mean that if your not in a guild your not involved in the wars, which is clearly what the game, especially Factions, is all about!

I sympethise with people who havnt found a good guild, but that comes down to what you want from a guild.., and what the guild wants from you as its member.

I for one try to get everyone using my teamspeak server, its much easyer to get to know people and have a laff, then I try to encourage Forum activity and also ask Officers to make an effort to communicate with members when Im not there.

Obviously not every guild and member manages to hit it off, but keep trying and joining other guilds.. after all, how many houses do you visit before finally buying one?

When you do find a good guild that you feel settled in its well worth it, even if its only got 4/5 members in.

I left my guild a couple of days ago on good terms for my own reasons whilst considering what I want to achieve/do next.

After only 3 days I have decided tonight to set up a guild for myself just to stop unsolicited invites.

If you want to join my new guild, (will have 'COOL' cape but no hall), the rules are:
1. You don’t have to talk to anyone if you don’t want to
2. No, you can’t have 2k

Once again all this chatter and concern and it boils down to we dont even know enough to know if there is a problem or not thanks to the poor way information is being handed down and conflicting reports as to how this may or may not work. It unfortunately seems to be a pretty regular occurrence too :b

But my hope is w/o specific guild allegiance or outrageous faction reversing you'll be able to see the vast majority if not all of the content and have a shot at all the fun good stuff there is to be had.

My personal thought would be allow ALL of the exact same routes to ALL, but tweak it in the following manner -

bribe/sneaky - I need to be more careful or pay an entry fee for this content
in gameplay - think say RoF, you got the front door and the rear door. if you had an in you had the front door, if not you had to work a little or a bit harder

But exlusions to content or making it very difficult through reverse mining faction or finding the right guild, or if the guild decides your faction even having to leave/change guilds/alliances (!) doesn't seem to be the right move

They mention caters to casuals too, not hours played, and the fact there isnt a monthly fee certainly does cater to the casual and even 'hardcore casual' like myself (life, wife, job but still spend a lot of hours playing as I'm able)
But then they seem to put odd roadblocks in the way (slots) and chapter2 seems to have at least potential for some big ones (access). once again, it's wait and see too :b
