unless there was clear understanding to skip the skip yellers are selfish jerks
Oh really? So if 7 out of 8 people want to skip the cutscene it's the 7 that are selfish? And if the 7 people are upset with the 8th and they decide to form a group without the 8th person, it's the 7 people that are somehow deficient?
Next time, try being clear about your position instead of trying to appeal to the popular opinion of the time.

In my experience, most of the people who skip have seen it before, but they don't really care either way. They don't mind if someone hasn't watched it before, and won't freak out if it doesn't skip ahead. In that case, they aren't selfish.
However, if those 7 people have some complex that makes them chant "skip scene" several times, and lose control when someone who hasn't seen the cinematic doesn't skip it, then they are indeed being selfish.

my position on this has been unchanged since the first pvp rushers started hurry up at release so i am not appealing to the opinion of the moment.
now lets make this a little bit more clear as to who is the selfish jerk(s)
the 7 people have already had the chance to see and enjoy it as much as they want to.
someone comes along who has not had a chance to see or enjoy them is simply told to skip what the others have seen because the 7 are in a hurry.
what is funny aero is that if you hadnt had the chance to see them and some jerks ordered you to skip you would probably be saying you had a right to enjoy the game you paid for
First Ill say I agreee with the OP so , /signed or whatever.
In regards to people saying its their right not too watch them, heres my spin on it. To damn bad, if people dont want too watch the cutscenes, then they shouldnt be playing in missions that have them, theres PvP for a reason. I dont care how many characters you have, how many times you've seen each scene, they are part of the game, and if you cannot deal with it go to the arenas, no cutscenes there.
As for newbies who want too watch but feel they are with a group of gripers, deny, deny, deny. And dont ever advertise that you want to watch the scenes, youll have trouble finding a group I suspect ?
People talking about rights, and what rights one has while playing, come on.... lets get to the core of the problem what it really comes down to is Anet has let a fairly major bug exist for far too long, so if having you minions die, or getting attacked during the scenes is killing your fun, then take the proper action, complain to Anet, which is essentially here(GWO), and make a poll of who want the cutscene bug fixed, GW is the first and only game Ive played where you can be killed and lose health or mana while in a cutscene, so If Anet fixed this problem it would eliminate a lot of the controversey no? Dont take out your frustration with the mechanics of the game on some unsuspecting newcomer, they are the future of this game you profess to love to play so bad you cant take a 20 second break without going into withdrawal .(/jking)
Essentially the first timers are being punished for Anets boo boo.
PS: I also agree with the previous poster who reccomends they remove the counter '5/8 have voted', why is that there if not too pressure the new player to skip ?

I can't believe this has spanned 8 pages. Just settle the skip issue before you click "enter mission", can't ya? What happened to communication and cooperation? I can see that the main problem here is that the majority of the players see other players as their private henchmen. This is comperatively a very minor issue and easily solved by just *talking* beforehand. The metagame has much much worse issues than this.
why cant they implement the same system that is on for hoh for pve missions? If you skip, you load and can wait for the others to appear (or get warped to town ealier) or you can stay and watch it, sure if someone stayed behond to watch a cutscene you would probably want to wait for him/her, but it would salve many of the problems faced by ppl dying and minions dying, and since there are always cutscenes at the end of missions, you would be able to get to town faster.

Sounds like it would be nice, but there's certain situations that it would be annoying. Say that cutscene in Maguuma Jungle that spawns groups of spiders after you view it. While some of the cutscenes aren't very long, you wouldn't really want several characters just standing there. Most of all that monk of yours. In HA, GvG, and now alliance battles, there's nowhere to go and nothing to do while the clock ticks down, so it's a bit different.
Mostly speculation, but it might also be problematic with how they do missions, groups, and cutscenes. If you skipped the movie at the end and it moved you to the city, the group would technically be in two places: at the end of the mission, and in the city. Nobody here can say what that would do, and trying to work around it would probably just make a lot more problems. A far easier solution is just to be invulnerable during cinematics.
It doesn't hurt to watch cutscenes. Enjoy the game and plot (please no griefs about the plot )...You can compare yelling about cinematic watchers to almost like skill capping in mission, if rest of the group wants to skip the boss, you have to come again to cap it by yourself. Same for cinematics. Couple minutes of waiting/helping won't hurt you so much...

Oh Are you the reason I have died a few times during cutscenes? You know the guy who doesn't understand that those monster beating the crap of your team is not a good thing...
In what mission, at the cutscene are there monsters attacking you?!?!
NONE!!!
oh ya your one of those people who get ran everywere, well I don't believe in running, thats a plague like the bird flu.... and I for one will never get ran, especialy on a mission..

Sorry mate, unfortunately the way Anet have built this game, if you trigger a cutscene whilst there are still monsters within aggro range..especially minions... they will continue to attack you whilst you are all chatting in the movie.
All it takes is one player to trigger the scene before you have finished mopping up.....
I think Anet should (have made)/(make) it so that the game "freezes" during the cutscene, henche leaving the monsters frozen on spot and the minnions degen as it was. The way it is now, I wonder what happens to an almost dead warrior with a vampiric weapon.
I was happy enough that my first time round was mostly with guildies or understanding people. I mentioned everytime that I wanted to watch the cutscenes before entering, everybody that had a problem with that could have decided to leave or object so I could leave. I wouldn't want to be in a party with people that won't allow me to enjoy my game just because they want to rush (rushing bad!).
OMG i agree! Why shouldnt people be able to watch custences????? THATS WHY PEOPLE BUY GAMES! TO understand the story. The people who dont want to watch it and others who do, i think the people who dont want to watch should suffer. You buy the game for many reasons. One of them being a story line. DUH
I use cutscenes to have a toilet brake, or get something to drink. I don't care if you all want to skip it. I do what I want
Call me selfish, but at least I'm honest about it.
