My Mesmer is only up to Divinity Coast, and I've only been invited into a random team once or twice (first time was, coincidentally, an all Mesmer team). My Guildmates understand just how good a Mesmer can be, and I think it says something when one of the most respected members of your Guild is a Mesmer.

With nuking now much less useful than it used to be, minion necros are now one of the most useful pve classes you can have.

^^i still have fun nuking, it just takes a nuker with more brain cells than a rock to do it(unfortunatley, alot of them dont meet this requirement.), and a good tank to draw aggro onto him.
anywho, back on topic.
i always accept mesmers and necros and rangers into my party.
-mm and battery necros are the best!
-i love watching an enemies health bar degen in a nice purple color with a mesmer around.
-rangers have great traps and preps, and a good one can pull like none other.
-you never really need more than one tank in pve, if he is a good aggroer, one tank makes the monks job easier( it also helps that the casters and other squishies know to stay back when casting)

Mesmer are fun to play with and with my Mesmer Ivy.. she make mission easy and fast. Mesmer have abilities to drain health, slow enemies down, steal health or energy and interrupt like mad. I notice that with my mesmer i can get through mission faster than my tank.

I play both Necro & Mez & my Necro by far gets the most invites....by FAR. I'm thinking that Necros get more groups than Rangers do, but alas I have no Ranger expierence to back that up.
As for Necro types...plz do not pigeonhole Necros(or any profession for that matter). They are more than just Batteries or Minion Masters. There is much, much, much, more to a Necro that just pumping up your mana or creating a Gimpy Army.

Yeah that pisses me off too. I've played every profession now and countless builds in pvp, and my ne/el is still one of the most bad-ass characters you'll find in the game. It offends me to hear people advertising for 'batteries'.

Besides minion abilities, from what I've read, Necros have some of the best status inflecting abilities. Mesmers are great for Domination magic and inspiration magic keeps them going. Despite this, I have talked to a few friends who're are also either Me or N and they seem to have the same issues with getting into parties (even when they're at or 1 lvl below the highest in the party).
Thoughts?

How come these threads pop up regulary? Is this because teenagers are insecure of themselves the moment they have a hard time finding a group in a virtual game? :shrugs:
Anyway, necro's are awesome. And so are mesmers. But yes, getting into parties may be hard. I suggest you start parties yourself, or play with guildies.
Don't have better advise then that....sorry.

Anyone who does any serious HoH or GvG understands that a good necro or mesmer is an incredibly valuable addition to their team. In combo, certain necro and mesmer builds can completely disrupt an opponent, whether that be through e-drain, taint, damage or interruption, or a combination thereof. Ask your monks sometimes why they are having such a difficult time protting or healing in matches against teams with skilled necros and mesmers....

I'll take the pepsi challenge against any elementalist using my necromancer. You will always find a niche with your friends/guildies.

Like Ele/Mes or Ele/N or Mo/N or M/Mes or W/Mes (my choice) or R/N or R/Mes
So a puriest Necro or Mesmer even with a instand damage 2ndary is not as good as a primary instant damager. Sorry, you're just built mainly for the adventure game, that is all.

What?? You've never been on a HoH winning team have you? Instant damage builds are rarely successful in PvP.

Actually, I'm 26 (if you must know). It just puzzles me b/c in every other MMO I've played, pretty much all classes are embraced. The problem is that it just seems in GW that people forget about strategy and the usefulness of support characters.

i play ranger for most of the time in PvE, and i have so much trouvble getting into a PUG. ppl dont seem to rate rangers at all, unless they have played as one, i have played all classes, and i know them all to be equal in abilities. the difference is that monks eles and warriors are soo easy to play. playing as a necro mesmer or ranger actually require some thought. personally i think rangers are the hardest to playt right, as their style of play is so much different from evry1 elses.
I have seen plenty of rangers just simply not playing the right skills effectively, and as a result rangers as a whole are give a bad rep. i rate mesmers and necros well above warriors, especially since the person who messes it all up is generally a warrior. The reason rangers, mesmers, and necros are sometimes left out of a team is becuase they have a bad rep as a profession. to those that dont rate rangers necros or mesmers, i say to them, play some gvg, meet a ranger spike team, a degen necro /blood wells or a energt stealing mesmer and then rate them, they are very effective profs when played right, but really suck, as with any prof, if they are played wrong. its a shame that more ppl play them wrong than right.

My first character was a Necro, second was a ranger. people in the game now "need" as many warriors, eles and monks as are in the town at that time. The only missions i got a group easily was the desert missions(interupting the monk bosses) and the Ring of Fire series(winter). I agree with the idea that certain classes are much more newb freindly. While people can't a ranger/necro/mesmer well thus thinking that the classes suck. That has been my view.

Ummm...my two cents, Necro's and Ranger's kick a--. Of course, I think all the classes do and enjoy grouping with all...it's some of the people I don't enjoy gaming with...

The way I see it is:
If people are not intelligent enough to realise the worth of these classes, are they really the kind of people you wish to group with in any event? *SHRUG*

Players tend to be very visual. They can see a monk healing, they can see a warrior hacking away, and they can see an Elementalist doing damage. Even rangers have something to show for.
But a Necromancer (unless you create minions) and Mesmers don't have a lot to show for, even though that's not true.
If a spellcaster suddenly drops about 1/3 of its health, the non-informed player will assume it was a damage spike by the elementalist, because that's the most logical. Who'd think that the massive damage spike came from a Mesmer with Backfire?
Or, if you are not getting as much damage loss, your monk must be doing a good job. Or it could be that your Necromancer slowed the enemy attacks down with Shadow of Fear?
Maybe Mesmers and Necromancers should spam all the skills they use, so that the uninformed player realizes that the Necromancer and Mesmer help a lot.

when I put my Mesmer through this game, I had some problems getting into teams... however, that was partly because this particular character was created in the image of a rp character outside of GW and has a major attitude problem, partly, it's the time of day I actually play in.
However, using the family account a few month later, I created a mesmer for the hell of it, and she's had no problems from the word go to find teams for just about anything.
So I think that the attitudes of people have changed and we now have a better understanding of the fact that 1-2 monks is enough, that 1 warrior who can tank is a monks dream and that eles can't do as much damage as they wish they did.
Last time I felt bad about my interupt mesmer not doing any damage was in fow. When I pointed out that I felt usless, the monk turned around and pointed out that I was stopping damage from occuring to us, guess I made his job easier? I dunno, was good to know that someone saw what I was doing as valuable.
And the most frustrating thing? Advertising for a mesmer to be in your group! They're never around.

It seems to me that as you progress, necros and rangers get more and more desired (specially in grenths/sorrows, RoF, and Thunderhead Keep). But mesmers, as I've seen, dont get many invites. When I lead a group, I accept any prof., and I will take a Me/Mo over a Mo/Me anyday, and a necro over a warrior and a ranger i desire as much as a spellcaster (long range+interupts when needed).
My necro is always the last one to go down, and no1 ever steps in my 21 sec +6 regen. well of blood
When I play ranger (I am a N/R) im also the last one to go down, seem to be ignored by the melee enemies
I never played mesmer in post searing, but when I watched my cousin play, he was the best nuker (Me/E Inspiration= 12+, Fire Magic=12, and FC=6+), when he has 12 FC and a 20/20 fire staff he can pull a meteor without a bar, he always went down around the same time as the monk.
For all you other necros, mesmers, or rangers, stick to henchies if you reach lvl. 20 before southern shiverpeaks, you will be accepted (rangers especially)
