I Love Henchies!!!
So - the later parts of the game, I figure you need real people to complete the missions. So I get to THK, and look for groups that sound like they know what they are doing. Well - 4 times in a row with different groups, we all died at the end. Everyone seems to have a different strategy, and usually involves either holding the torch, running around like crazy, or using catapults.
So - I decided to take Mhenlo and the gang - I couldn't beleive it. I mean we did have a close call near the end when the Mursaat perfect showed up, but I cleared it with almost no problems. I had no idea what I was supposed to do with catapults since Henchies always follow you (would be nice if you could tell them to stay put). I just stayed with the King the whole time
I also cleared Dragon's Lair and did bonus with Henchies. I love running with groups, but there are so many "experts" that get everyone killed...

Yeah I did every mission but RoF and Abbadons with hencies when I first started...Too shy to join random teams and I was one of the first in my Guild (We moved from Tribes Vengeance! )
They can be good till the little things bug you...like all the healers running to res some one mid fight...right into the middle of the pack and dieing
All in good fun

Hmm, maybe I should try henching THK. You say you just stayed with the king instead of running from gate to gate?

Yeah, catapults are only there to confuse noobs into killing themselves. Stay with the king...you get the same number of enemies, except your forces aren't split. I have no idea why this isn't common knowledge...

abaddon's mouth is one of the missions I was never able to do with hench... simple reason they always ran after things I was not calling target on...
but hench rule.

Well, I almost finish the game for my first time (all my char are stuck at RoF because I wanted to farm and I never did the missions after that). Abandoned mouth with hench is to go slowly, even if you have the Chimera Rage on you. That enchantment makes panic to the players to make it fast and die fast after that. With my mesmer, Im at Hell precipice with only hench and died at the portals due to a bug (henchs were stuck in rocks ). Beside that, I was easy to get there without let one dying by Rodgort spike (Ouch).

I love the henches, Most of the time, if:
The monks didnt run in and tank
The monks didnt res mid battle
and the whole party didnt bunch up under a pillar of 3 meteor storms
They would be sufficient for me for all the missions
that and making the Archer+Mesmer actually do somthing

I've learned over my time that using the Mage hench (Orion or Cynn) usually is a bad idea. Both of them are very bad, and don't help out much either. I don't need that firestorm 5 seconds after the target is dead.
I can't wait to use the hench from Factions. Would have been nice if they had included 3 monk hench, but I get along fine with 2 monk henchies now, so it should work out just fine.

Actually, I found pults pretty useful. When you got two people more than just randomly pulling levers, the rest of the party has to deal with less than half of the stuff.

I never thought Faction will have a Tengu in Hench. But, ***** Talon is strong if we compare Devona, Little Thom and Stefan.
I see too about the Interupt Ranger in Luxon was a good hench.

Henchies FTW. They've gotten me through the entire game twice and helped me get everything done prior to ascension for four other characters. Some of the new Faction's Henchies are outstanding. Interrupter anyone?
But be careful, Ira may have already seen a thread dealing with Henchies and decide to flame this one because its "old news".

You're a tribes vet??!! WOW! I thought no one else ever played that game, or the better ones before it! I came to guild wars after runescpae, but runescape after the whole tribes community died .

The catapults make things a lot easier. You have one competant person on each, your prot and heal monk are in the middle while two others are at each gate to take whatever comes through. And the entire group falls to the middle if things get a little hectic. Simple strategy, easy to understand, easy to pull off and makes the mission very easy.
I have not once come across a group that understood this strategy. Everyone seems to want to do their own thing and their own way of doing the mission, regardless of the leader's strategy. If your leader gets you killed, at least you can blame it on someone.
