Default Is the 24 hour head start really that big a deal?

Well after thinking about this most likely I will be missing the 24 hour head start anyhow, since I'm getting my GW: Factions CE off a online store.

The thing is I'm really not fussed I'm going to miss the 24 hour head start. I mean really is there any massive advantage? Sure you can rush the whole expansion and get "high-end" weapons sooner. Or maybe go looking for good farming areas to keep to yourself before they are nerfed?

But still beyond that would waiting an extra day be really that big a deal?

To me... no. Just wondering what everyone else thinks?

to me personally a day, a week would be meaningless as i myself go through the game very slowly enjoying what i find.

with apologies to Melvel

*just call me tourist*

a head start to me is meaningless as i am not in a race

I have preordered mine and going to play 24 hours before the release, but I wouldn't really care if I'd miss it. -> the more excited, the more fun you will have

There will no doubt be some people rushing to buy up a variety of things in order to help propel the prices skyward and then profit off it. Wonder what the odds are there will be farming builds posted during that 24 hours before "official" release date...

because you orderd it on-line you shouldnt be penalised for it.. When I bought the original Guildwars ONLINE.. I was able to play early.

Im so excited about Factions I want to play it as soon as possible.. so yes, the day early for me is a MUST xD

not only that I have booked a day off for it!

but there are lots of other reasons.. for me, which may seem silly and un-important to you..

Prices on things will take a while to settle, so on the new materials there may be a definate price advantage.

somtimes some bugs slip in before they are caught or reported, so sometimes its fun to experience those... like a mission not working properly or some items with incorrect stats...

it may even be that drops in some areas might be wrong!

It may seem petty, but playing it before everyone else kinda makes ya feel a little special

Well booking a day off seems a bit overkill, but fair enought ^_^ Any major bugs would have been cleared up after the preview event, but you never know. Most people will be looking for the next HoD sword most likely.

Now starting early with Guild Wars was easy, you could download the client, but is that the same for Factions?

Highly likely I'd stay, I'll be making a new character with one of the new classes.

But my Ranger and Warrior will be coming along for the ride as well. My Ranger is my pride and joy and primary character, my W/Mo... is well a farmer lol

But thinking about it people will most likely try to buy up important materials to made profit from them, like amber and jade for example. Needless to say, I hope A.net has take that into mind to try and stop them.

That's kind of sad when you think about it; not knocking farmers (I've done some myself and even posted farming builds/videos) but I'd have hoped people would at least try to finish the chapter/get as far as possible first before turning it into Farm Wars: Chapter 2 But I just know I'll be proved wrong hehe

If there is school that day...I'm emailing in sick...or dying...or oops missed the bus...

Just kidding...sort of. I don't know, if I am at school...as in at my dorm skipping class... then I'll be playing it with my Prophecies characters exploring and doing as many Kurzick quests and Alliance battles as I can to start getting the new 15k sets as soon as I can.

But if its the weekend and I'm at work...then I won't get to play at all and will be thinking about it the whole time I'm taking customers orders...did you say Medium size Necromancer sir? I don't think we serve those...

I bought my version online. It comes with a preorder key that gives you early access.

And where is the game data going to come from? Don't we still need the CD to download the Factions client?

Hasn't this been answered many times before? You don't need the actual CD for anything. It's helpful so you don't need to download as much stuff. However, if you played in the FPE, most of Factions is already downloaded but you just can't access it. The preorder key lets you play a day early. However, it expires (not sure when but I would guess you could play through Saturday) and you need to put a real Factions key to continue playing. You get to play early (when everyone else is rushing to buy their copy) and buy the game a day later than everyone else (avoiding the rush).

It expires Friday at 11:59 pm. So, you get all day Thursday and Friday to play before you need the retail key.

I'm not sure how much I'll actually play on Thursday, I might take Friday off and play all day then, though.

To me, it is. Mostly because when Chapter 1 released, me and my guildies and friends advanced through the game (both with henchmen and PUG's) extremely quickly because most players, especially non-beta players who hadn't learned to play yet, were still far behind. When we began running second characters through the game, we found the entire population to be downright incompetent (as it has remained).

So, you need the day head start to feel superior?

I don't get it...
