Default Ranger armor?

Looking over the new screenshots of ranger armor... how exactly is this asian-themed? The sentry armor looks like some kind of fluffy rennesance (sorry, can't spell french words well) dress suit, the scouts looks like random hunks of shiny metal thrown together with a half-cape (which isn't ranger like at all, even if it looks cool *but completely un-asian, correct me if i'm wrong*) and the explorers is the only one that looks practical, resembles what I think someone in Tibet or living in the mountain areas would wear.

Has anybody else noticed this? I'm really starting to wonder if I'm going to take my ranger through factions now.

Asia is not limited to Japan and China, if you look at clothing styles from other countries in the area, you may see some similarities.

That's all I have...

You are so wrong! That's not random metal and a half-cape, that's turtle shell and a half cape!

^_^

Actually, yeah, you're pretty much correct. The Canthan is quite Tibetan, or possibly Korean. The Kurzick is rather anime. Anime is Japanese, right? Right?? heheh.

I think the variations in armor (and culture) are kind of interesting, but if you were looking forward to nothing but Asian-themed stuff, it could be a bit disappointing.

I could've used a bit more Asia in my Cantha, as well, but keep in mind that you haven't seen ALL the armors yet.

That was only a preview remember. Don't count anything out yet. We still have a LARGE area to explore. So we have to wait to see how Asian themed it actually is.

Asian-themed != Strictly Asian. This is still a fantasy game.

I know :-D. I'm just saying that I was hoping for a more oriental-themed armor. Even a shortbow-wielding army uniform from the dynasty eras would be OK. i'm just saying that I normally dont go hunting through the trees with a suit on. Frilly suit, I might ad.

I suppose the fact that a twig-lined bikini (15k Druid's [F]) offers high-end protection against attacks while supplying extra energy doesn't seem strange at all to you then. :P

My ranger is a male with full studded, hehe. I'm just saying that they could at least keep the ranger armor for rangers and the mesmer armor for mesmers.

The Kurzicks don't seem oriental at all - more a sort of germanic/gothic.
