Aint no way I'm wearing pink, but I may turn up, after all - who doesn't want the president at their wedding. I may even bring the infamous Mr McChristmas along with presents.

A memorial service for a real life death.
Considering it's impractical for people to travel around the country, particularly younger people, for a funeral, with the digital age, particularly regarding people beloved to a digital community, this is not unheard of.
Multiple forums I know of have a RIP thread dedicated to a well-known poster or staff member that lost their life, and I've even seen an MMORPG actually SANCTION a funeral, with GM's present and all.
It's the desire to want to grieve in real-time, I guess. Why else do people gather at some funerals, where they're talked at by a pastor, the relatives, and then they're off on their way? To give support to the friends and family is the only plausible explanation to me. [And I've had the misfortune to attend one. Not because it was bad, or because I felt it was a waste of time. Unfortunate because that meant someone close to me passed away]
And then, transcripts of the the memorials are often kept on a digital gravestone type site, which is not really uncommon anymore. Unlike cemetaries, it's accessable no matter where you are.
An online marriage is the reverse, sharing in a joyous time.
It could be a for-fun thing with RP characters, or it could be the method of announcing a real-life engagement for 2 devout gamers, and giving a way for their online friends to participate in their wedding, in a sense. The legal aspect is only having the paperwork signed. There's nothing saying you can't have a free online ceremony in addition to a real life one, if that's what you want.
And it could be for other reasons.
Judgment without details is always useless, and judging people period is often a pointless endeavor as well. In reference to the deleted posts.
Whatever the case may be, none of those [trolling/flaming/etc.] comments need be left anymore. [Edit: Reminder - This references the deleted posts, not the quoted, or any others.]
Edit:
Ah, thanks to a friend for reminding me -

Just on a related note, in case anyone's interested.
And on a productive note, might I suggest the quest items from 'Belated Betrothal' (silver rings), for use in the ceremony?

Amazing what this digital age does... =p
No, not really, but if close ones wish to attend a proper funeral or wedding, I believe they should make some time and effort to go in person to show some traditional respect. Just My opinion.

I am not flaming, I just find online relationships odd to say the least.
Anyways, is this a fake/rp wedding or a celebration of a real one?
