It could be worse. At least greeens ALWAYS drop in the new UW.
I wonder what would happen if A.Net changed the green drop rate to be the same as that in SF. I can just imagine the outcry if nobody in the team got anything after 2+ hours of UW grind.

Just did Tombs now.
My second run so far:
1st - 0
2nd - 2 drops.
It's not really fair. I'd rather have 1 and 1 than 0 and 2. When I spent 2-3hrs on a quest...and I got NOTHING (and no ectos)...it felt very very bad.
Also, as for drops and chests:
0 gold drops.
3 chests - all of which were purple.
!?????!!!
Common, we're on the newest, highest "map" in the game... and the drop rate is THAT lousy? bah.

how is this going to be any different from regular collectors items if everyone and their mother is getting one? not like the current drop rate is stopping hardcore farmers from hoarding anyway

I totally agree with you. I wouldn't care if you only get a drop every other time, as long as the greens you do get are useful to you and your characters.

I have completed 1 run down there and got 2 greens on it. (Elswyth's Bow, which is what i wanted and Victo's Blade.) A few other greens dropped but the party didn't pick them up and the timer ran down...

I've been through 4 times now and got the recurve bow and 2x Necro staves, what I wanted was the axe and shield (for my warrior to use not sell on), but in all the cases they've dropped, they've gone to someone who only wanted to pofit from them.
The 3 things I've noticed in Tomb's UW are:
Get 2 ecto and you can forget a green drop - this has happened in all 4 run's, person who got 2 ecto got no green drop.
Only 6 out of the 8 will get allocatted a green drop, some get 2 or 3.
Best green drops go to the the richest players who don't need them (in fact this seems to apply to most drops elsewhere - the richest players I know always get better drops than the rest).
Drops random? my arse they are, there seems to be too much of a pattern to drops for them to be totally random.

And the mighty ones above look down and laugh at us! The only character that I have not played yet (and don't want to play) is warrior: I have the other 5 on two accounts (one shared with my wife). And on the few completed new-UW trips I managed to get 3 greens! And two of them are whats-his-names Maul! Now, what am I going to do with a Maul? And now I got two of them!
Well, I refuse to be discouraged or dismayed. I use this Maul with my Mesmer/Monk when I play this new UW and attack the huge worms in level 2. I can't do much damage with it, but it looks very funny, my Mesmer in her enchanter's evening dress swinging this oversized Maul at a huge worm inbetween casting various hexes.
I will give the other Maul to my Monk. Would look just as funny I guess.

Ive been on 3 runs now and all I got was Koles gauntlet, my luck has to improve soon . I suppose it gives us something to do and cause you may get a few ectos it stops the 55hp monks and necros snarfing all the ectos for themselves

By the way, did you read the entire post or skim it? I got my only black dye ever at 650 hours, dont simply shrug that off as bad luck, not even extremely bad luck. Also, trolling is bad for your health.
|
I don't think Tjiger can be accused of trolling here- all of us only have our experience of drops to base statistics on which is a negligible sample considering the 1,000,000 + players out there.
My first and only black dye drop was last Sunday, in the HoH UW. I don't know how many hours I've logged; I hit 1,000 some weeks before this event and then stopped looking because it was worrying me
Sometimes it does seem as though the great drops all happen to other people (in all my time I have found 2 greens- an ogre slaying knife and a nerfed rockmolder), but how am I to know how everyone else's experience averages out from the small sample of their time I see?
TBH, it doesn't worry me whether I get drops of the really top items. It is easy to get enough cash for equipment which is very close to the best, and I am happy for it to be a big challenge to work towards those ultimate items we dream about (FoW armour, 15>50 weapon etc).

Wrong wrong wrong
where is the following
collector axe 15^50
collector flatbow 15^50
Shield +45hp -2 stance (while enchanted)
Holy rod +5 energy
That is just a small selection of stuff that lots of people want, but is NOT available from collectors or the droks crafter.
And before you argue that what you can get from collectors is good enough, ill point out you said better not usable.

I agree with tijger,
why do ppl want a fellblade +15%>50% and not a gladius or something +15%>50% (wich costs 600k cheaper) ... ?
Because the fellblade looks alot nicer, it is possible having a perfect sword -bow etc.. and not spending that much gold in it (collectors items - cheap weps like gladius, falchion ...)
But what you guys are asking for is getting a reward for farming !! HAHa!! What a joke...
Keep on farming and you will get green items, but if you desperatly want a green item drop like this I would farm in moments that not alot ppl farm (so not in the evenings)
When you will get a green drop like victos blade, you probably will sell it, are happy for 1 day and the next day your farming again and you will be complaining for not having a drop...

Apply that same logic to an axe
Oh wait you cant because you cant buy or get a collector 15^50 axe, so people have to either get them dropped or pay stupid money for them.

that sentence makes no sense.

Do you think its fair that 1 person should get 2-3 greens in a group, and another get 0?
Somehow i doubt youve actually read most of this thread, but just came on to flame farmers.

Don't get all hung up over cosmetic differences, that's not what this is about. Greens have perfect upgrade mods, collector weapons have no upgrade mods whatsoever.

How does that address the issue at hand, that of uneven distribution of dropped greens among partymembers? Have you read the thread at all? In fact, how does that address anything at all?

You have no idea what people do with their green drops. No idea at all.

Last night was several firsts, first time to finish UW, first ever green. It was Elswyth's bow, which I read is not worth much. I wasn't going to sell it anyway. My char is a ranger and the bow's stats are impressive.

my thoughts:
every chest in there... should be GOLD.
GOLDS AND PURPLES should drop from the mobs... much more often.
the game should check to see if there's someone being a jerk and not drop greens for him. ^^

Be happy with the drop rate as is. I'ma huge SF Oro runner for drops, and most of the time only 1-2 greens drop the whole run. Its fine the way it is, prices go down for greens, drops suck except for the greens (which is the point of the run), and sooner or later you will be the one that gets 3 greens in one run and everyone else will complain.

well I just did my first tomb run and everybody in the party got a green one and some got even 2... so I don't see the problem here, and yes I've red the thread.
In this game you can have a very good weapon very easily (maybe not fully perfect and not fully modded but still its a very good weapon)
And don't come with this bs that I dont know what ppl do with their green items, cmn you see trade chat flooding with green items. 90% of the ppl who farm greens do this to sell them (yes when I find a green item I sell it unless I can use it)
do you really think A.net favors some ppl and gives nothing to some?.. its just about luck...
Thats the same as crying you never win with the lotery when you lose and your neighbour always wins something...
Life is hard.. deal with it
On the other hand its not my purpose to start flaming, I am sry for sounding a bit rude. Sometimes I get abit irritated by ppl who always want more. If drop rates would go up you wouldn't be making alot of money because everbody can farm the items themselves...
Drop rates are good as it is, and sometimes you just have badluck... sry for that

I said better then 99.9% of the drops you get and I stand by that, I've never actually had any of the items you want drop for me in well over 1000 hours of play so in this case I could even say 100%
I also didnt say any weapon can be had from collectors, just that the game provides ample high level weapons & items for very low prices from collectors.
As for trolling *shrug*, call it what you will, I just dont see any point in Anet screwing with the game because someone has exemplary bad luck, I'm not super lucky or super rich, I have 200K and a few decent items on my chars none of which are godly and if I get godly stuff I sell it usually.
