not only stupid (which it is) but demeaning to put those all the way down to equality of a slot on a game.
HI PEOPLE
do you complainers realize that you have made less than one percent of the uproar/outrage that occurred over the UAS (UNLOCK ALL SKILLS) issue and guess what?
we do not have UAS and a few people walked over not having it.
complain all you want, dont buy chapter 2, go play something else as GW is still growing fast even if you leave.

I've deleted several pve characters created in my 4th slot just to do some pvp. I keep going back and forth on my decision. Sometimes I create a 4th character so I can go with a friend to pre-sear when they make a new character.
I was screwed out of my first attempt at a GvG battle with my new guild because my ranger wasnt set for spiking and I didn't have the elite and bow's they where using for organized GvG. I feverishly tried to get my elite and bought the items I needed, but missed out on the fun because I couldn't quickly reroll my character. See the problem here. I have what I need now for the future I guess, but what a pain in the ass it was for me to have to cap the elite and invest gold in a couple of decent bows just to get a chance to participate, in the mean time while I was doing this I listened on teamspeak while my guild enjoyed their GvG experience. I didn't want to delete my 4th character at the time, so you can see my dilema. This is just one example, hopefully there will be a solution in the future (keeps fingers crossed!).
Hopefully the next expansion will only be 6 months instead of a year, we hardcore guild war types blow thru the content so fast that a year of waiting is pure torture.

Here is the math for A-net:
Prophecies = 4 slots
Factions = 2 slots (???)
Buy 2 games that are not from A-net = 8 slots.
Wouldn't you enjoy the game more if you could try out all professions?

It's my opinion, and not stupid.. and no, I won't take it back as it is analogy for the ongoing argument that people want more than AN is granting them. Gamers spend a lot of money on these games every year, otherwise, people like John Carmack, the founder and engine programmer for ID games, wouldn't be buying countless amounts of Lamborghini's and building multi-million dollar rocket ships to win a hobby prize with their rewards for selling such games into the public market.
And as I have said before in other threads, when you submit these complaints and inquiries and suggestions into AN's support ticket system, they request that you post them again in threads, just like these. The simple reason being is people like Alex and Gaile, do read these threads and from these threads, they see what they public -really- wants. Are you saying that every post for someones request =has= to be deleted because it's not in the popular opinion, or doesn't reflect your views?
Let them complain if they don't like something. That is how change is created.
And on a second note.. if I had held my horses, and played the FPE BEFORE rushing to pay 69.99 for a pre-order. I would have probably not, and by probably, I mean 99%, not bought Factions.

Oh.. now A-net does not foster discussion and does not want to hear from the players? I think that A-net has done a good job listening to players suggestions and the more we whine and complain the more maybe something will be done about it in the future. Keep the thread open! We will not be ripped off.
PS. I can probably do fine with 2 slots, but rather have 4 extra slots.

Although this topic may exist in other forms, in all of these threads there does seem to be on common theme peope don't get - these boards are for all of us to voice our opinions. But there's a bunch that like to blindly roll in, try to squash discussion, and label anyone not loving 100% of the product offering as someone who obviously has issues/whiner/immature/a problem and should move on. Even though the reason we're bothering to post in the first place is we like the game and we'd like to see it be even better and/or more accomodating to how we play. In some cases in the hopes something will change so that we can continue to enjoy it.
And ya gotta love Loviatar for continuing to pull numbers out of his nether region.

Agreed Ckaz, if people didn't love the game enough to complain about things they found lacking, then AN would have some problems, because people would just walk away, instead of voicing their opinions and requests.

Anet explains it like this:
8 x 50% = 400% gameplay
6 x 100% = 600% gameplay
Ofcourse, they have a point, merging the games does further extend the gameplay experience due to being able to cross-travel etc...

hehe this horse is already dog food... I think I stepped in it yesterday in fact. /euw
I for one am glad to see the topic keep coming up. It shows that more people are still wanting more slots and if it keeps coming up, maybe Anet will give in.
I can't see anyone (players) turning them down if they are given, so it hurts no one (players) if Anet gives them out. Anet employees are adults and savy business people, they don't need to be watched out for by fans. Babysitting them in defending them via assumptions on why they haven't given out one slot per primary is, in my eyes, an insult to them. I'm sure they can handle themselves and can explain the real reasons why if they so chose too. However, they don't, and in opting not too, frustrates many. Telling each other to be quiet and go away only makes each side of the argument more inflamed.
Let's see if Anet finally answers this post since they've ignored the similar ones in the past.
Poor horse... hehe

then put your money where your mouth is and cancel it.
wait for reviews to see if you want it or nor.
getting it (CE AS WELL) and then complaining bitterly does not make sense
an informed buyer is an wise buyer.
what would it cost you to wait a few weeks to get a feel of i would be happy/unhappy with this game?

My point is, at a certain point (there have been, what 4 threads on this topic already!?!), it's time for a different course of action. I mean, what do you hope will happen?
If Anet is not going to respond to these threads, then maybe they'll respond to lack of sales.
I'm happy with 2 slots, so I'll be buying it. But those of you who really, really hate the lack of slots: Boycott GW until they give you more slots. Because, so far, these threads have done nothing but turn into flame traps.

Because.. Lovitar, 70 dollars to me, in life is really nothing. Just because I purchased it, doesn't mean I have to play it. I also am purchasing other old favourites coming out with new installments this season. I'll play which ever one suits my needs best and I enjoy the most. If AN decides to fix the issues with the game, and make it as keenly interesting to me, as CH 1 was to me before it became a gold sink bore, then I might continue to play.
Oh well, AN already got the 70 dollars from me, so what does it matter to them, right? Word of mouth is still by far, one of, if not the best form of advertisement.
More slots would do a lot to convince me to say better things about it though =D

Hey I just had an awesome idea!!!!
DON'T merge your CD-Keys - you get 8 slots!!!!
(WOW, thought about that for like a week now)
If you want your current characters in Tyria to be able to go to Cantha:
Buy a second copy of Factions and then.......wait for it.......
MERGE the CD-Keys!!!!!!!
You now have 10 SLOTS!!!!!
Have fun!!!!!

The devs explained that they didnt give extra slots because that would be unfair. If you would have 6 lvl20s of every character class, then everytime you want to do a mission for example you could choose exactly what class to have. But its more important that this is a problem for pvp. Plus you gotta consider that since every1 could have every single class this would mean that you would have excessions and disbalance between classes.
In my opinion they should have put 6 slots for the first game and added 2 slots in the second game.

We've been through this. People want 8 Linked slots.
Your solution is not a solution at all.

I mean, I'm happy with 2 slots, so I'll be buying it. But those of you who really, really hate the lack of slots: have some backbone. Boycott GW until they give you more slots. Because, so far, these threads have done nothing but turn into flame traps.

Backbone?
Well unfortunately I don't think a lot happens from what we discuss in posts but who knows, maybe the slot chat helped to at least secure 2 slots for Faction players linking.
I wonder if people would have been so quick to swallow 5x100% > 8x50%, which it does and how they didn't have to give us any to keep even - yeah that'd be a great experience.
Sure we could boycott GW, I considered/even looked at selling my UAS account and starting anew [yeah Eula, but if someone here could make use of it directly due to their goofy restriction and need of 2 account and chapter paths to fully enjoy the game for some of us]. I'm only getting one copy tops, not two. I suppose their decision will have some financial impact.
This ongoing debate even rests almost soley on their shoulders. They waited a LONG time to let us know what was going on with it. Then maybe CE? Now maybe an eventual purchase option? And a lot of our game plans hinge on it.
And even where it doesn't directly hit the $ bottom line (if still play/buy) as Shadowfell said, word of mouth, heck even keeping friends in the game. A few of mine dropped out that I brought in - I didn't put up a fight. I haven't even suggested to my wife to get on board for Chp2 as the system gets even more complicated, I doubt she'd want to deal with coordinating faction, guilds, and all that jazz which seems to be more pervasive than first guess - my other friends were more casual as well. Cool ANet tries new things, people like to flog GUILD Wars, but hey Shadowbane tanked for a reason.
And again, to those that 'oppose', why do you guys keep coming to this topic like flies? We care about it - you're obviously ok with the offering or even take it upon yourselves to push the company line. Why?? Again I'd suggest you guys shove off and leave us to the thread(s) - we're still interested in change and/or some kind of option(s) and express our opinion.
We're only all too aware you guys are OK as is. So why not leave it?
Really we can have our discussions without you, or is there separation anxiety at work?

What is there to discuss? Every single argument has been stated, ad nauseum.
I just don't see the point of these threads. Maybe you're right, I should just ignore them. But when people write crap about this is the same as blacks being persecuted and women's rights... well, I'm sorry, I'm gonna chime in.
(I know that wasn't you, but that's what sucked me back into this blackhole)
EDIT: Sorry for the backbone comment. I wasn't trying to say you don't have a backbone, that was rude.

If that's true, Anet really missed something.
Pure PvP character takes how long to re-roll? PvE takes how long to change secondary after you've done those missions?
On each side it takes at max ten minutes to make a new character or change the secondary. Getting the character you need for the situation is easy enough.
Classes are no where near balanced now as it is. Poor ele's have fallen from high damage dealers to support classes, just one example... I know, I finally deleted my seksi ele... /cry
Surely that can't be a real reason... at least I hope not. If it is, maybe they do need the Babysitters.
