Default Dye Drops

Anyone notice that dyes drop A LOT more now? I farmed Hydras and Griffs yesterday and got 7 dyes in 3 runs. 1 black and 1 silver the rest just junk.

Yes i have noticed this, I have only gotten one black dye through the whole game but here recently i have gotten many silver and purples.

I'm glad though beacuse i save them and when I want a change for my armor i can experiment with colors

I am not sure what the formula is but I do farm in areas where dye drops are something I am out for. To me it seems that dye drops are triggered by some sort of random generator like 1 out of 100 or so kills and then the color of dye is also triggered by another percentage of dye drops. I sell everything except silver and black so I don't really know what the odds are on the less valuable colors but my ratio of silver to black in storage is about 4 to 1.

edit: Well right after I posted this I went out on one of my standard farming loops and where I usually average one or two dye drops I got four this time.

It's a good time to start mix-and-match for dye varieties again.

yeah i got a ton of dye in storage and went through a ton to make some weird colors...lol. I never got black dye until the last 2 weeks where I have gotten 3. Sold all of them cause I don't like black.

i did the same - i saved up and had around 10-15 of each color and about 5 silvers - i ended up mixing colors and using them (didnt like some of them so it was just a waste) but i had fun anyway.

That's nuts...Once i created an ele and went through and killed everything in lakeside or whatever its called right outise of ascalon, and each time i got one dye - i did the same with the catacombs and got 1-2 each time. I got very bored with it though.

exactly my point.

presear used to be a gold mine for dyes.

my best was a black at 19 minutes on a new character.

also the above was on 3 characters from just starting to level 9 and spread out so as not to kick in the anti farming bit

bad luck yes but this much?

I have gotten more dye in the past couple of days then I got in a while. A red, 2 yellow and 1 silver. I haven't gotten this many dye drops since Pre Searing were I left with like 10+ dyes including 2 blacks having been there for 2 days.

All I ever get is purple

I started collecting them to see how much of each I got, and my purples are up to 30 with less than 10 of everything else. Still never had a black.

dye drops are completely random. you have the same chance of getting a black dye from a level 24 charr as from a level 0 river skale tad. i don't know if there's been a dye drop increase, but my experiences of farming presearing has been kinda streaky: sometimes i can get a whole bunch in one run (got 1 black and 1 silver today, on the same run), and sometimes i can farm forever and never get anything.

EDIT: on the topic of noobs, there's one guy who tried to buy my black dye for 500 gold. when i told him its true value, he babbled something about 500 gp being the "market value" or some other nonsense.

market value for black is over 6k. I bought one for 6.5k the other day when the trader was asking for 7.5k.
