.. what Phaern said.
And if people insist otherwise, those with enough common sense to rectify the issue are usually a post or two away.
As for "child labor slaves," the reason I've been paying so much attention to -these- forums is to address that specific issue, that those conditions don't exist, that these people don't exist, that the money they earn from doing this in the first place is far above any concept of slave wage.
Elona Reach?
Bots!
Bots, all of them!
With a possible human driver checking up on them now and then.
- edit -
I'm watching them right now. It's so weird.
I can hear the Silent Hill music in my head as they move forward, run into the wall, then turn around and walk toward the shopkeeper.
'cause that's what they're all doing.
Even some in the American district now.
- edit #2 -
Seriously!
It's a surprise they're still there after all of this!
You can just sit here and watch them!
They're all doing more or less the same thing!
1) Running up against the wall, walking against the wall, and then turning to the shopkeeper.
2) Running past the shopkeeper, hitting the wall, then turning around back to him.

All standing in EXACTLY the same spot, then follow same route at 1 second intervals then dissappear. Wait a bit and they all come back again in the same order

I met a friendly fellow from Canton looking to buy a "farm bot" through Paypal. Appearently farm botting has gotten to be kind of like Gryphon soling or something, alot of people trying to cash in? o.o
He said he wants to "test it and see how it works"

It's entirely possible that they haven't been banned yet because A-net is waiting for the botters to actually sell their gold to someone so they can immediately ban the buyer and seller with one fell swoop. :]

I dont see why Ebay isnt doing something about it. Shouldn't it be a public image problem for them? "Buy slave labor on Ebay Today!"

Why does slavery keep getting mentioned (not a personal attack i reliese this is humor but its not the only mention)
I think some people have no idea what slave labour is
slaves dont get paid, and dont have freedom.
Also i dont think Ebay want to do anything as it makes them money, also i dont think Ebay themselves are breaking any laws and hence Anet cant stop them, just ban the accounts concerned.

It was a joke for sure aron and I agree it isn't exactly slavery. I'm just trying to point to the human rights issue. Should anyone be forced (yes, forced, by a crappy economy) to work long hours for low wages?
Really though, I just wanted to say why haven't we heard anything from Ebay regarding this? If there's so many articles in journals and newspapers discussing the "horrors" of cyber-sweatshops, and each article states that the bulk of the online gold trade is through Ebay, and even video game makers are saying that it hurts the online economy, shouldnt they be taking some action? or at least saying SOMETHING about it?

Yea lets all do that, lets make China an even poorer country. Lets stop buying its products, lets make them close the factories that use cheap labour, lets make them sack the workers as they are no longer needed, lets make those cheap labourers earn nothing instead of a pittance.
If you didnt notice, your tv, shoes, cloths, stereo may be made in china, And probable earnt less than what these botters get. So unless you dont buy any product "made in china", your being pretty hypocritacal complaining about this.
Im not justifying EBAY items/gold, but condeming it on the grounds the workers are paid cr*p is a load of baloni.

jesh, Anet should just put a person to randomlly checking this people...

Can anyone else confirm that? I was just about to try it out myself but thought i didn't want to get in trouble in case they are running some sort of program... which is also the question.. people say they are not bots but are clearly running a program... isn't that against the user agreement... i would imagine it would be..

My feeling is this, if Anet didn't want people farming they would not have made wealth so hard to come by. I'm not saying buying gold is right or that bots are good (because i hate the darn things for messing drops up), but people play the game in a way that is fun for them and so far none of this has hurt the GW economy. Heck we need these chinese gold farmers in our own US economy maybe gas would not be $3.00 a gallon if we could buy a quick 100k us on ebay for gw gold. The funniest part of GW for me has nothing to do with gold or superior weapons, it's the missions and quests. Because of missions and quests the economy will survive no matter what. Bottom line.

well, none of them have let me join in my random invites, but I've been randomly invited by a few and brought outside. They then proceeded farming as if I wasn't there....and they weren't very good. Kind of makes you wonder wtf they're doing

.. awesome change with the HoD sword.
It's things like this that really make a dent in the bot community.

Well to those who think there not bots, those who think Anet have a uncheatable game, those who refuse to admit that so much of GW player base cheats this might make interesting reading. It is merely one example of the hundreds of sites you can visit to get these bots, hacks, exploits and cheats...
ADMIN EDIT: Link Removed
GW just like most MMORPG is full of cheaters, and fair players are leaving, maybe only to return for a short while when the factions thing finally gets released.
It makes me sick to the stomache to think i play GW fair but will never have 1% of what hack/exploite users will... what is happening to the game playing community if people make a living by selling code to exploit online servers that we pay (and in some online MMORPG's subscribe) to play on but A-net seem to only say they look into things, and every once in a while they say they banned a few accounts - its my beleif they would need to ban thousands maybe more accounts to rid thier servers of cheating braindead exploiters.

Beeline,
It's in Anet's interest to ban cheaters.
Why?
Not only does it retain the actual playerbase (us), but it also means cheaters will either (1) stop playing, which effects the playerbase retention, (2) or forces cheaters to buy more accounts, which means more money for Anet.. upon which they can ban them again, thereby effecting playerbase retention, or forcing cheaters to once more buy even more accounts. ;P
Just my two cents.

Regardless of all this. If I'm in charge of the financial side of A Net. 50 (or whatever they sell it for) bucks per game coming from any country for any reason is a good thing. The company still benefits from the sales. While developers and whoever are saying this that and the other. Someone on the financial side is just saying Sell Sell Sell. So I really have questions about the relationships of ANet to these sweatshop places?
