New "Titles" system
Updates:
* Added a Titles tab to the Hero panel. Full support for titles, including the display of titles to other players, will not be available until the release of Guild Wars Factions.
This looks promising. Finally a system to distinguish individual players instead of making everyone a spec in the sea of John Does. Only question is does anyone have any ideas how this system works?

GameSpot: We hear that Guild Wars Factions will include an all-new feature that will let players earn titles for their characters, such as "hero," "gladiator," and "champion." Tell us about these titles and how players will go about earning them.
James Phinney: Titles are intended to give players recognition for extraordinary achievements. Some titles are associated with a player's account, such as "champion," which recognizes your achievements in guild-versus-guild combat. Some titles are associated with individual characters, such as "Tyrian Explorer," which recognizes your persistence and ingenuity in visiting every possible nook and cranny in the continent of Tyria.
Many titles have multiple levels. For example, the first level of "skill hunter" requires that you capture 90 elite skills with a single character. You become an "adept skill hunter" when you reach a total of 135 elite skills. Capturing that many skills is an incredible accomplishment.
You can choose only one title to display at a time, but a single character can have multiple titles. Whenever you uncover a new part of the world map of Tyria, for example, you make progress toward a "Tyrian Explorer" title. This does not diminish or alter any progress you've made toward a "gladiator" title, which is earned through victories in the random arenas.

Wow nice. I wonder if there's a title for total acquired Faction points, that would be great!

I think this will also help the 'Rankism'
If teamleaders can see that you have a title, then they know you have at LEAST spent some time on the game and know it well.

Ditto. While it seems like a cool idea initially, I can see team leaders wanting to see your rank now before letting you into a PuG. Since it's based on your char and not your account, I hope it won't be like that.

Character???
To do that, you'd have to switch secondary profession multiple times.
I take it, they ment to say "account".

no they meant to say what they said, titles aren't supposed to be easily obtainable you have to actually WORK for them, 90 elites across an account is easy, 90 accounts on one character is part of the challenge, if it were across the account everyone would have it or at least be close

Whats wrong with elitism? I used to give the unranked a chance by allowing them into my groups. I'd meticulously plan out a strategy for the team etc. with careful timings and pre-arranged actions etc. and it's always the unranked noobies who screw it all up. For instance one time this guy told me he was a Rank 2 and I was like: meh ok so long as you know what to do. We ended up fighting the altar map with the rez orb. The idiot runs up, picks up the rez orb then drops it on the ground (despite him being a warrior). This occurence isn't isolated, the number of low ranked players demonstrating this kind of idiocy has forced me to impose rank limitations (I'm rank 11 but I accept as low as Rank 3 people now but nothing less).

I'd agree if we were talking about the top level. But this is only for the first level! Having to switch secondary profession twice to reach the first skill hunter level sounds clearly over the top to me.

Yeah, this is great!
Now every time we want to get into a mission group we'll have to be ridiculed and humiliated just like rank in HA.
Big thumbs up for the decision to make PvE just a little bit more unfriendly.

i don't think this can be done fairly. Example: I unlocked almost everything in pve, then started pvp. I have a total of slightly over 200k faction and i can't spend my points since half year, in other words i hasn't gained any points in the last 6 months.
if you talking about luxon/kurzick faction, then that's a different story.

I dont see how it can tbh... the reason is that they are going to be so damn hard to get..
as for PUG's.. I dont really care who I pickup.. all missions can be completed with henchies anyway, a PUG just makes it more interesting.
In anycase... how on earth does the exploration badge, or the skill capper badge give any indication as to how good you are able to work in a team?

From my understanding there are some based on XP too. All in all, it doesnt matter what your rank or title is, its how you play the mission at hand that counts.
