better see some fixes...such as
- Making the Naga stop droping the fangs.. but make the NPC merchant be able to buy them (at price of say 20g each)
or....
- Make An NPC still be about to exchange your fang for your mask for 1 more day.. or...
- Have the Emperor come back for another day.. but stop the quest and naga fang drop... or
- An explaination and appologies from the one who is responsible for miss-information.

Some of us in monastery district one involved in ths body block of the Master of Celebrations think that would work as an idea. Just add a check for a preorder key to prevent the fangs from being handed off and that would work perfectly. Kind of like how a collector operates.
BTW - If anyone wants to stop on by, we're still there. American District 1 of Shing Jea Monastery. Come on in and say hi, or even join us in this endeavor. All we want is just a firm answer that's more than a form letter response on what will be done about this. We have all submitted support tickets about this, and I hear that district 3 is involved as well. Please ANet, don't ignore us. We are playing this by the rules - support tickets, posting on forums, and so on. At least just give us an answer so we can get going with the rest of the event.
Merry meet, merry met, merry meet again,

Its like 10 hour later... but I am still ranting...
Quote:
In Cantha, you are invited to complete a series of quests in honor of the Tengu, quests that also aid in the effort to beat back the erstwhile invading forces. If you are successful, you will earn Naga Fangs, which you can exchange for unique rewards! At periodic intervals throughout the course of the day's event, be sure that you visit Shing Jea Monastery, where you will find that, if you have a sufficient number of Naga Fangs, the fangs will be converted into wearable Tengu Masks. These coveted items—customized just for you—will be unique across all Guild Wars campaigns!
|
Taken from the official website. Tengu mask, while useless in stats, is used as a advertising tool. Its "UNIQUE"! So why should we not be upset if we don't get them?
It come at a "periodic intervals"... but not on the last one, and with no warning or announcement what so ever. Lots people work hard to get the fang, and missed it. of couse we should be upset and ranting.
(Its like a hot girl call you up and say "Oooh, I am lonely tonight, can you come and spend the night with me? Meet me at 12:00" But when you do get to her house at 12, she tell you "Oh, sorry, Johnny showed up at 11:50. There is no need for you now, you can go home..")
And why do we need the Emperor? Why is Empeor just by him self, and body grinding with the crowd? He's like a peasent with just better cloth. Also unlike the Mad King... he server very little purpose. Very weak.
And my biggest rant is where is the Community Relation Person (or the event handler) in all this. How come they made no signs to respons to this?

Did you really expect him to come at 12 when the event ended at 11:59?

Yes. If I remember right, both the X mas and Holloween event all end at 12 (where the avatar/mad king show up around that time, but not early than 12)
My rant is not what time the event end, but what has Community relations and Dev done to tell us (or reply to it) about this very unclear schedual.

I didn't have a pre-order, unfortunately, so I missed out. Thus, I can't really complain, because it doesn't affect me;
I'll say this though-
This is EXACTLY what my criticism consisted of during the Halloween event.
The arrival of the Mad King was unscheduled (had to have it figured out by other players just to find out), and he was often late or early by an interval each time as well, spanning up to 30 minutes at one point in lateness.
Maybe Anet thinks the 'surprise' aspect is fun;
It's not.
Waiting around an area for long periods of time doing little to nothing is NOT fun, and it really reflect poorly on the game, optional event or not.
It's a subscription-free game, and it's a bonus event, but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. People that staunchly defend Anet to the death need to remember that, while people that bash them for every little thing should remember the first part.
This falls under a room for improvement thing;
Once again, please announce these kind of details in advance, in a timely manner. It's a -necessity- for some players if they want to take part in these events, while it offers no advantage to other players to be left in the dark. There's no reason to hide things from your players.

Anet should take a page on how FFXI does event, runs over a week, well document and the important parts like when is X npc shows up is documented a head of time but leave out things you have to figure out.
Aka you have to do a quest, here's how to start it then let player figure out how to finish it or the "surprise" at the end.

I knew ahead of time that i wouldnt have enough time to gather Naga fangs.
I asked my guildmate who is from Sweden (For her it would be morning when the 24 headstart began...so she would have all day XD) to get me the neccesary fangs and give them to another guildmate who i knew would be on in time to catch both of us.
I come on at 8 PM est with only about 5 hours left on the event and i get my fangs, a guildmate runs me there, and i wait and i get my mask
>.> As you can see, i didnt leave any room for chance. Now i owe 3 people favors...but i got my mask!

Well here is the problem ya see - Anet and Gaile expect us all to be able to jam pack ourselves into the district she comes to to speak - instead of collecting the fangs we should be reading the board till we find info on when it intends to end according to her... /end sarcasm
This is an issue! a big one! We are always expected to know what the hell Gaile says when she visits - but when she does we get a LOT of conflicting info and unfortunately they don't bother to post the info on their main website - I got one mask which was all I really wanted - but it was at the last minute and I was extremely surprised at how short the visit was >_<!
Better timing and better info (accurate info would be nice, or at least less cryptic) - Anet seems not to have had much faith in their product either, cause I may have a Tengu mask but lord only knows when I will get my Factions: CE ;_;
And in the end she made it sound like they were giving us something that was so much more grand by getting the company to make more.... Wait... so the point of "PRE ORDER" was.....? bleh - bitter right now, cause "I" PRE ORDERED (months ago!!!) but won't be getting my copy till June 30!?!?!!!

Right, so if they delete all your toons and reset your account, that's cool with you? After all, they reserve those rights, all the online information is their property, and as you said, it's just a game?
Anet doesn't have to keep your unlocks.
Anet doesn't have to let you play.
There's an EULA warning you that they can cancel your account anytime.
It is just your time and money.
It is just a game.
Give me a break.
The "event" extension was a "surprise gift", and presumably was going to extend the event, not the grace period. Many of us thought that it was a chance to get the rewards over the weekend, to allow casual players who work, have kids and so on a chance to get the rewards of pre-ordering.

oh well.. not really mad at this, life goes on w/ out a mask. but for 100+ xx ecto and buying HOD 2 weeks ago... make me sick :-| and really pissed

Midnight pacific time. 3:00am Eastern time. This is the visit that people are complaining about when the emperor came up to 20 minutes early.

I am sorry to whine like a little girl, but seriously - I spent most of my time after work which was from 9EST to the present racking fangs and the emperor is only there for 2 min??????
My question to ANET is - why wasn’t the event more explicitly laid out? Why wasn’t the community notified of his arrival/departure times?
We all cant be 15 years old and be online 24/7!!!!

Ok, let me add this little bit of info. I was one of the fortunate few to be notified by Gaile Gray herself that the last visit would be at 11:40 pacific time.
I was in some arbitrary district of the Monestary and she came on (about an hour or hour and a half before the end). She talked to us for a little bit then went to collect naga fangs for her daughter. She confirmed there would be one more Emperor visit (there was some question about this at the time as well) at 11:40 pacific time. She specifically told us not to wait until 12:00. This was the first and only time I had heard about the emperor coming "early". I was in the process of questing for naga fangs, so I didn't hang in the Monastery after she left, but when i finished, I made sure to spread the word, at least in the district I came back to, because I knew people would expect it to be on the hour.
I don't know why they didn't use a global announcement, or why they had the emperor come at that earlier time, but then I haven't read what they had on their website about the timing of the visits either.
I can certainly understand people being upset about missing the last visit. And I certainly think there were a lot of unknowns about this throughout the day yesterday. I just think that we should realize that this was obviously an event thrown together at the last minute, and was ANet trying to make something fun to do and have. If we jump all over them for things like this that could have been done much better had they planned more, or given more notice, or whatever, then wouldn't that lead ANet to not do such things? Maybe next time they have a last minute idea for something for us to enjoy for a day or whatever, they may pass on the idea because they feel they don't have enough time to plan it and will just cause people to be unhappy ? Seems like ANet might be better off to not do these things.
So, sure the event could have been handled better, but I know I spent hours on the event yesterday doing the quests with about 7 of my level 20's and enjoyed it a lot (especially after I realized I could sell my naga fangs for so much money!!!).
Maybe ANet has good reasons for the early Emperor arrival, I don't know. Maybe they have good reasons for using the Emperor instead of a trader, I don't know. I can tell you that the arrival of the Emperor and our interaction in the district was very fun, which would be missed out on with just a trader. It was a fun event when the Emperor came, and that is what it was supposed to be - a fun event. If you substitute a trader for the Emperor, wouldn't it have been just another quest with quest rewards?
All in all, I think they made one hell of a game, twice now, and I'll give them the benefit of the doubt.
