Default End-Game Greens

I love how they implemented the rewards for finishing the game, getting unique and very limmited supply green items that simply look badass. But I was a bit disapointed. I mean, they are still only greens after all. They cannot be upgraded at all, and because of that, and the fact they are greens, they have limited use, and will probably be fairly difficult to sell.

My idea for making the end game rewards be more of an incentive and rewarding, would be to keep how you obtain them the same, however change the items themselves a bit.

My idea is as follows:
When you get them, they only have the base defence, energy mod, damage, whatever, but you will be able to select two modifiers from a list provided that will be on that item. However, if only implemented as said above, this would be a one-time thing. I dont like one-time things much myself, so I would say, every time you return to that area (beat the last mission again), those that gave you the item can change the modifiers on it, for a price.

For example, when you first arive, you will select one base item you would like, and select two modifiers from the provided list, that become fixed on that item. Every time you return, if you have the item on you, you can pay, say 10k per modifier you wish to change, and switch it out for anything else on the list. The weapons will come with two modifiers (prefix and sufix) of your choice, and all future modifications of those would, once again, cost 10k each, and only doable in that area.

Doing this would make the items far more useful, rewarding, and valuable, while still maintaining the unability to farm them, and if sold to another player, that player will still need to be able to complete the final mission himself if he/she ever decides the modifiers should be changed.

Lastly, for the final boss fight, in my oppinion, it is way to short and way to easy. With a decent group, I can easly kill Shiro in 2 and a half minutes, often times much faster. My request for this would be make the difficulty level for this equal to the 2 or 3 missions before it, where you have to be very good, and in a good group, to make it through. I would also like the fight to last longer, preferably about 10-15 minutes. I am currently unshure how to work this in properly, but if I come up with any ideas, I will update this post.

All ideas to improve this are welcome. Please no flaming of any kind. Constructive criticism is exceptable. Please sign if you think this a good idea. Maby ArenaNet will acualy see this thread and implement this in the near future.

Note to ArenaNet - if you do decide to use this, please make all existing copies of the item upgraded as well, or delete them and place another Amulet of the Mists in its place, so a new updated one may be obtained.

I had a few ideas buzzing round in my head, wasnt going to mention any till this came up. I thought of the same idea but instead using a crafter hidden deep within the new FoW or UW with a base skin and you choose the dmg mod and 2 upgrades.

But back to your idea, I think it would work better with only gaining such a weapon from completing the game not with unlimited access such as a crafter (theres probably enough crafters round to suit your needs by simply modding their weapons.

But anyway now that I think about it, there are plenty of crafters and variety of weapons and skins attainable from them that you could mod to be 'perfect' so a 'you choose the mods thing' is not really necessary

The first couple of times the group I was with couldn't get him down much (ranged attacks mostly), then we switched strategies and beat him. Only 1 sword. Once I realized you couldn't make armor unless you carried all the materials with you, I went back in with another assassin (me as W/R) and some henchies, and we did it in 1:10.

I like that you do have to beat him every time to go in and get the armor or buyable items, and then on the greens only 1 amulet per PC, so at least if you see an item like that on someone, you know someone, somewhere actually earned it. No using a high level PC to beat Shiro over and over again just to get multiple amulets and flood the market with items.

Now if they would just fix the faction reward people...

I think you misunderstood what I ment, likely because you have not yet finished the campain.

Ignore the following if you do not want a spoiler

The last mission in the game, you fight Shiro. After you kill him, you are moved to an area (forgot what it is called) that is ONLY accessed by killing Shiro. You cannot go back there unless you kill Shiro again.

At this location, you are givin ONE item called Amulet of the Mists. This is given to a character only once, regardless of how many times you defeat the last mission. This item can be traded to one of eight collectors at that location for a green item, many of which are from the contest winners of the last Guild Wars art contest (I think it was the last one anyways, the weapon designs). Other than the fact that you can only obtain one per character, and must play through the entire, very difficult, campain to get them, they are otherwise similar to all other greens.

My problem is, although I think the end game rewards are an exelent idea, they should be something new and customizable - hence my suggestion above. Please note that the missions leading up to this last one are very difficult (far more so than anything in Prophecies was and likely ever will be), and will take roughly 20-30 hours of gameplay from start to finish for a newly created Canthan character, hence the anti-farming I mentioned. You must create a new character and get him/her all the way through the game to obtain another one, or purchase one from another player.

End spoiler

What I am wanting is a way to customize the items to be truly unique, they have unique names and skins already, but you cannot change what they do the way you can with normal items (shields, rods, focus not included in the normal items catagory). By having a crafter in this location, with fairly expencive serveces (why I said 10k per mod change), will discourage people from changing what their item does, but still allow it.

Unique? Shiro's Blade or whatever might be unique now, but wait a two weeks and it will be like victo's, where everyone and their mother either has one or wants to sell one.

Perhaps you did not read. These items are incredably difficult to obtain because of what you need to do to gain access to them, and they are UN-FARMABLE. As in, you can only get one per character, after that character completes a very difficult story line that consumes a great deal of time. I doubt a large amount of people in this game will even be able to get to the last mission, due to the extream difficulty (as I said before, although in different words, anything in the Prophecies campain qualifies as cake, or whatever term you use, to almost anything in factions beond the first two or three mainland missions, which just so happen to be about as difficult as thunderhead keep is, especialy now that the "book trick" has been removed).

You are right that these greens are unfarmable, and that getting them is time consuming, but the Canthan missions are not hard. All but the Raisu Palace mission can be done with henchies, and for the last one I think I just need a couple more tries before I figure out the henchie strategy.

The Canthan missions are long, but ye old FoW barrage/interrupt build completely owns everything. Also, unlike in Prophecies, almost every Factions mission gives you more than 8 party members/allies.
