You're not being efficient then. For a ranger, you need at least a minimum of 4 bows - Hornbow for Ranger Spike, Composite for interrupting, Flatbow for B/P, Shortbow for working with henchmen. Any else and you're just gimping yourself and dragging your team down.

noone needs more storage space, everyone wants it. there is a BIG difference

Everyone needs more storage due to the horrible trading system making it nearly impossible to sell any of your inventory. Unless you trash most stuff that's worth more than 10 plat or are a hardcore trade spammer, you have no hope of getting rid of your stuff because you can't get a fair gain for selling the items you hold. Hence you must hold them forever and have no space to pick stuff up.
As for a guy who asked "how can you make storage more efficient with less slots?": One way is to remove the ridiculous "slot limits" of 250 for things like wood, steel etc. There should be no limit to how many of the same one thing you can put into one square.

When I played UO years ago, I loved the storage. Storage was based on amount of weight, not items. Gold took up weight, so you could make checks that weighed 1 stone. In essence, you could have 100m in gold, which would only take 100 stones. ON TOP OF THAT you had your Beetles which had storage space in their "packs", as well as pack horses and llamas.
But, if you really want to look at it, we, in essence, did get a small increase in storage with new character slots. With bags, pouches, and runes of holding you did get a small increase. Sure, doesn't make up for it. But I have NEVER maxed out my storage in either gold or items.
[edit] oh yeah and houses too with almost unlimited storage.......

Sure, I can get by with 2 bows and a staff ... anyone can. Would you rather "get by" or "do well"? Honestly.
I carry some bows with poisonous strings, elemental strings, zealous/vamp, etc, lots of different grips, flats/recurves/shorts/longs/horns ... all are suited to a particular task or playing style.
It's super your playing style is only suited to 2 different bows (or not and you make do) but don't dismiss people who carry items that have more benefits in a wider range of situations. I agree that skills and the effective use of them are 95% of your success as a player, but there is still a place for gear

Thank you. At least some of us have a sense of reality.

Sure, I could make it through the whole game with one sword and one shield. But then again, I could make it through 90% of Prophecies PVE with Mending, and probably get a ton of faction by griefing in RA as well, so does that make it the ultimate skill?
