Assassins: Necro Best Friend
Guess what, when I first get to know about the assassin class, it suddenly struck me that Assassins are going to be the necro best friends.
Look, now we have a brand new Wammos with lower armour, and in high abundance (at least in the early weeks/months of faction). I mean, what can be better than these assassins for us necro to do our soul reaping? So immediately when I started on the head-start event, I create a ... NECRO
When I started playing the game, I found that anet has a little surprise for me they actually give these assassins the skill "death's charge" FREE !!! Wow, imagine what can be better than a low armour assassin who play like a Wammos? ... An assassin who can teleport himself/herself to the group of enemy.
However there is a side-effect to this ... sometimes they dropped so fast that I could not cast a spell in time and thus could not havest them as my energy bar is full. I sincerely hope that anet can correct this imperfection by giving these assassins a longer life (and thus delaying their drop time).
After I have completed my necro, I hope that I would be in time to create an IWAY warrior. This is too good to be true ......
A true life story from a happy lvl 20 necro and his more than frustrated lvl 20 monk friend who is thinking of quitting faction .... (guess anet cant please everyone )

Ah, I see you have encountered Assassins who have no idea how to play their class.

The sad thing is, Assassins who know how to play the class end up just as dead.

actually assassins who take the time to learn their class are very resilient. we can chain so many attacks into a devastating combo. apply conditions like no other we can snare. and kite very effectively. good self heals and deaths charge is good too.. thing is you use it when you need a heal not right at the start of a fight when you have full health.
personally i like my assassin i can see him wreaking havoc in the arenas

What a useless thread. Assasins are just as weak as any other caster or 70 AL target. There's players that use Warrior secondaries with a caster primary and get killed just as easy.

Great, more people spreading [misinformation] like this around so that assassins can't get finish missions because people won't let them into groups and the henchmen are like lobotomy patients.

You don't see as many of them. And they don't teleport into the middle of huge clumps of enemies for you.

The assassin class is difficult for me to work around as a mesmer. I mean I can make them feel like they're winning, but im still getting hit. I die around about the same time they do when I fight them.

So, once all the "Assassins drop fast" topics and the whole Assasin hype is gone we will get the "Assassins get no love" hype, right?

Nah, first another Monk Strike, then Necros complaining that SS is nerfed (it's coming, no denying it), then Rangers saying they get nerfed all the time (Probably Barrage getting higher EN cost and longer Recharge), then Ritualists saying they get no love, and then I'm guessing Assassins...

Like any other class Assassins will take time to get used to. But right now there’s an over abundances of Assassins and Ritualist’s, one or two max assassin per-group thing works out great, but you still need your “one and only original warrior Wammos. And of course you have to use your head and think about tactics, other then mind numbing which minion you want to make next, heal, heal and more heal, ouch dragon stomp.
Vizunah Square (Local) was hard, if you haven’t guessed why read the first line, after that things are smooth never had a problem dieing not any more then any other person, and I’ve had no problem getting into a group. Ahh why bother explaining it to you…..
Key words Assassins are not tanks....

Hmm...assassins the new whammo's....I never knew warriors could shadow step, use enchantments and spells, etc. Most people think of assassins as people who run in, do a combo, then die. If you looked at there skills you'd be pretty surprised.

as said earlier in the thread, If you actually take time to learn how to play the class, theres no issue, I did Visunah Square, with henchies, as a lvl 17 assassin, and diddnt die once (I think a couple of henchies did, but thats henchies for you )
an assassin can 'tank' to an extent if required, IF you use the correct skills, as the correct time(s) etc, but they are not meant to tank.... they are meant to run in, hit, do some quick/high damage (using combos) and then duck back out... so shadow step is great, cause they can jump in, hit a few combos, and then dash out, with life to spare....

You're exagerating the situation. A good assassin with Death's Charge, can teleport and kill any caster with a good 4-5 hit combo under 10 seconds.
Personally I use Unsuspecting Strike (First 1/4 health gone), Then Wild Strike (Down to 5/8), Then Horns of the Hox (Down to 4/8 knocked down), Then Falling Spider (Down to 3/8 poisoned), Then Twisted Fangs (Would bring down to 0/8 and cause bleeding+deepwound, but the persons dead by then)
Now I doubt any caster with out blind can counter that, I've taken down monks before they can cast gaurdian on themselves perfectly fine as well. Anyways, Assassins have Temple Strike. Which basically kills casters just by itself. As for tanking, Assassins have flashing blades. Its not really tanking, but it makes them live longer.
