Confession time.
Last night I was in a PUG at Thunderhead Keep. We were clearing the fort, doing the upper perimeter, then to proceed down to the lower level. I was a trapper, but when not trapping, I was using Apply Poison to spread around the mobs for a little extra help. Well, up near where the King hangs out at the end, I was rapidly hitting "tab and space" to cycle through the mob. Oops, a little too quick and my last tab targeted a mob down below, and before I could stop my ranger from running toward them, I aggroed pretty much everything down there. They all came up and annihilated us, except for 2 that survived. I felt so bad.
"What happened, what happened?" I couldn't say a word, as much as I wanted to own up. Especially since we were doing great to that point and I thought I single-handedly cost us the mission. Anyways, we made it through and completed the mission fairly easily after that.
I guess I won't be so quick with my "tab space" trigger from now on.

I was solo monking for some random PUG in Hell's to help my friend out. It was going pretty good, since the necro brought blood ritual and was helping me out. We kill some sparks and a green dye drops. The group goes ahead while the 2 w/mos stay back and start haggling for the green dye, and i mean haggling. Saying offers back and forth, and comments like "gimme plx wtf noob". Well, after haggling for the dye, they decide to come and join the battle but they aggro another group onto us, and we get stomped.
That is probably the biggest noob scenario ive encountered...2 nub w/mos kill my group haggling for a green dye in hells precipace

My ultimate nub story!
This was way back when I had my first Monk (a Mo/E, I thought I could damage and heal at the same time. I learned the error of my ways before this group, however). I had just reached Amnoon Oasis, and was looking for a group to fight to Augury Rock with. So, I'm spamming for an invite, and I get one. From a group of 3 other Monks. I just laughed, but accepted anyway. The group seemed ok, we were laughing about soaking up all the monks in the area. Made it even better when we got a 5th Monk. Finally, we rounded out with a W/Mo (see? theme). Now, we're still laughing pretty hard, but we elect to prepare a bit beforehand. So, I keep my healing build, and some others opt to take prot, and I'm fairly sure at least one person said something about smiting. Everything seemed hunky dory.
After a near party wipe from the second mob, I knew something was horibly wrong. I started looking closer at the other Monks, and came to realize, quickly, that 2 were running overlapping Protection skills (one of which was mixed healer and prot at level 14), I was the only actual healer, one seemed to be leeching, and the other was the most inneffective fighter I've ever seen in my life. The wammo wasn't much to behold, but he was at least dealing damage. Too bad he couldn't take any damage, as I emptied my energy bar into him several times over.
By the 3rd group (which turned out to be the 4th and 5th groups as well) it had become very obvious that this was going to end badly. And, so it did. We died on the hill to the right of the exit to Amnoon, and never even saw the teleporter. Even with the Respawn point right there, there just wasn't enough healing to keep anyone alive, let alone a full party with +15% DP.
And here's one with my Ranger.
I was looking for an UW trapping group. I was pretty used to 4 man trapping groups by then, and I felt confident that I could aid a 3 man group. I hook up with a group totaling 5 Rangers. I'm thinking to myself "Man, this is overkill". But, since I'm not really a farmer, and I just enjoy doing it, I figure what the heck. And in we go.
After the first mob, I KNEW something was up. It was just the length of time it took to off the monsters. This was after the AoE nerf, but I had started after said nerf. I'm not too perturbed about it until after the second and 3rd groups. By that time, I've had enough. Things are getting deadly. So, I ask what everyone's Wilderness is at. One guy never responded, another said 14, another kept quiet then said 14, and the group leader said, and I quote, 12. I must have been dead tired, because this didn't set off warning alarms in my head (guess this was my own n00b moment). Well, we did manage to open the door and get over to the smites. Everyone piled up the traps and we pulled in a mob. The traps went off, and... the smites were at half health. This is where I started screaming. After a lot of running around and random trapping, we FINALLY killed them off. Now, at this point, I'm getting upset about this person with the low Wilderness (It just didn't register exactly how low for some reason) and I confronted her about this. She told me she didn't believe in Superior Runes, and that this was fine. She had, appearantly, done this a lot, and this was normal. I know better, as smites generally don't survive the first wave of trap explosions. We went on for a while, but then the deaths of others slowly took its toll (I actually didn't die, I was the only one), and there was no way the group was going to be able to deal enough damage to kill anything. It was at this point that the group leader mentioned "I should really get a mask". That set off the warning bells, and I finally understood what was going on. These people had never done this before, and were trying to just do it. I shouldn't complain, because the group leader payed our way, but even so.
Ok, my rant is done now.

hm..noob moments..I think I know a thing or two about those.
For instance, while doing THK the only time, the first, on my Whammo..Somehow I never figured out to bring mending, but worse, I first brought Orison for some great healing.. and the next 14 tries I brought 3 res skills. Ressurect, Res sig, and restore life. You can't make that stuff up.
Of course, that was during a time when I thought Bane Sig was a useful damage dealer for a W/mo.

Recently, in a PuG at Vizunah Square (Local Quarter), my roommate and I joined a decently well-rounded team. Probably one of the few without 5 assassins. The team leader requested beforehand that we each call our targets, which I didn't mind.
We're getting ready to go, and I request a few seconds to switch skills (Playing a Monk--I had been smite/heal, so needed to switch to heal/protect). I barely get my skills in place, and am placing attribute points, when she joins the mission without asking if anyone in the group is ready.
Already a bit peeved at this point, I assign the remaining attribute points when we get in (luckily I had un-assigned them all before re-assiging), and we begin the mission. We get to the first mob, and the group leader (a Ritualist) begins attacking, and calling her targets. And EVERY attack. Multiple times. Basically, it goes like this:
Leader: I'm using Weapon of Quickening on Leader.
Leader: I'm using Weapon of Quickening on Leader.
Leader: I'm using Weapon of Quickening on Leader.
(repeat 35x)
Leader: I'm using Spirit of Pain.
Leader: I'm using Spirit of Pain.
Leader: I'm using Spirit of Pain.
(repeat 35x)
Leader: I'm using Orison of Healing on Tank.
Leader: I'm using Orison of Healing on Tank.
Leader: I'm using Orison of Healing on Tank.
Leader: I'm using Orison of Healing on Tank.
(repeat 35x)
Astraea Boitheia(me): Please only call once, it's causing me uber-lag.
Leader: I'm attacking Afflicted Elementalist.
Leader: I'm attacking Afflicted Elementalist.
Leader: I'm attacking Afflicted Elementalist.
Leader: I'm attacking Afflicted Elementalist.
(repeat 55x)
Astraea Boitheia(me): Please! I'm lagging terribly when you call so much!
Leader: I'm attacking Afflicted Necromancer.
Leader: I'm attacking Afflicted Necromancer.
Leader: I'm attacking Afflicted Necromancer.
Leader: I'm attacking Afflicted Necromancer.
(repeat 75x)
Finally, I lag to the point that nearly the entire team dies, when this bit starts up:
Leader: I'm dead!
Leader: I'm dead!
Leader: I'm dead!
(repeat, every 0.1 seconds, for the duration of five rebirths)
It's not like I can't read. It's also not like I didn't see the announcement the first time.

My monk got her butt handed to her there over and over - with lvl 16/17 and 30ish armor. Took me 2 days to finally hack it. Against all the degen I used heal area and took orion for his firestorm (usually I avoid him, he dies too often on me). Could finally roam this part of the desert without henchies dying at all. I make a point paying attention to never attack more than one group - always brake off an intended attack immediately if new scarabs are triggered.
Needless to say this doesn't work with a PUG, even when explaining the idea. They swarm out triggering 2 or 3 groups at once, distance fighters don't close in to get the healing effect and the nuker doesn't use his area damage spell - too costly

[QUOTE=The Renegade Healer] The Wammo proceeds to call the ranger without the pet a noob because pets pwn omglolol, and you should never, ever play ranger without bringing a pet.
QUOTE]
While I believe he was a n00b...the rest of your post sounded n00bish.
Me and my buds are playing as beastmasters with our rangers and were having a blast. I'm not talking about B/P, but normal pve and pvping. Mixing up the skills to do all sorts of chaos. This was way before the new beast mastery skills came out ( which make it even better )
Only thing that made me see the light is when I was on the recieving end of a good beastmaster.
But thats why I love GW. Theres so many ways to play the game.

Hmm,...I don't think I like where this thread is going, too much latent bragging sideways...
But anyways, to avoid that, I'm gonna recount my extremely noob days.
1. I paid 500g for a runner from Ascalon to Piken
I didn't even know what running was and proceeded to follow the runner until he told me "Sit back and enjoy". He didn't even charge until Piken and didn't try to scam me. 500g for Piken, riiight....
2. Destroyed a MM's day with nooby WoB spam.
3. Used firestorm extensively on that stealthy creep-by-Mantle mission - aggroed thousands of them.
No matter I can run most maps, firestorm's gathering dust and decay and THK is stroll in a park nowdays...everyone was a newb once.
But it still seems to me most of these stories depict someone's bad day rather then extreme n00bness. We are talking of end-game content mostly and the standart builds used there (5-man oro, 55-ss, barrage/pet etc) so if someone's unfamiliar with cookie-cutter builds or the system doesn't mean he doesn't have skill or (some) knowledge enough to get out of noob stereotype. Likely, take him there twice and hell learn fast...
But yeah, there's people....1 accused me a "noob with nooby pre-sear shitty armor" (OMG LOOK AT THAT NUB WITH HIS PRE_SEAR ARMOR!!!) and kept flaming me to hell, when in fact we were in around Yak's and I had 50AL with pre-sear texture-look. Sorry for not having Droks, didn't pay to be run there....
Oh yeah, just remember a recent one (Factions): HOW DO I EXIT TOWN?!!
I tried and tried and tried to explain (even tried to get him in a party) but to no avail....

The temple mission in Cantha, I was playing a heal monk. Took me about 2 seconds to figure out why the Wa/Mo was dying so fast.
Frenzy + Healing Signet. He would hit Frenzy, start to take damage, and immediately try to Heal Sig (even though he already had a Vig Spirit, +9 Breeze, and Healing Seed on him).
Needless to say we finished, and he of course should not have gotten credit for completion. I don't know if he was a noob, or just a griefer.
Another noob moment from that mission...I capped Arcane Languor on my Mo/Me. Nice move slick.

was getting my monk through factions, and was at the whirlpool mission where u fight Kunnavag or whatever its called. a buddy and me were takign our monks through and normally just used hench, but felt we shoudl try a pug. we find a barrage grp. 1 w/r, 3 or 4 r/x, a necro, a rit, and us as monks. ok seems like we got a tigers axe war, barrage interrupt, spiteful, spirits and heals. doing good.....
until i go to heal the warrior...... Ill call him xxx for short
xxx is using flame trap...
xxx is using kindle arrows...
xxx is using power shot...
xxx is using poison arrow...
Now i thought i clicked on a ranger by accident and healed the wrong person. it took me 3 tries to actually comprehend that i was viewing our w/r. the sad part is that we actually beat the mission and got all 3 swords...

^^^ I don't understand how that's bad if you got all 3 swords.
Anyway, my story was from last night. It was pretty ridiculous. I'm a R/A (Yes... another assassin and I'm disguised as a ranger) and I see someone say, "MONK LOOKING FOR GROUP!" So naturally, I invited him. Low and behold, he's an A/Mo. I figure, why not, I'll let him in. Got another Monk, got a few of the regular classes, a tank, etc etc.
We begin the mission. The monk aggros something, I figured it was a mistake, oh well. Let's move on. The A/Mo aggros something and dies. I have the monk resurrect him. I figure, he doesn't quite understand how to play his class yet. No worries. This goes on and finally we've spent about 20 minutes in the mission and everyone is getting frustrated. The monk keeps on charging into battle and doesn't seem to be aware that his party is taking damage. The A/Mo is trying to be the healer (I sent him to do this after he charged into battle and died a each time). I realize that it's probably not his fault, giving him the benefit of the doubt, and that the monk must be doing something wrong. I finally realize that the monk has been charging into battle and aggro'ing everything. I tell our A/Mo to stop healing him and don't even resurrect him. He's costing more power than he's worth. Sister Tai continues to resurrect him.
Yes, I know, this is ridiculous, but it happened. Finally we get to the boss and we all die. Everyone dies to Spirit Rift (including myself, couldn't get away in time). We fail the mission. So what happened? Well, we had an assassin with an identity crisis and a kamikaze monk. Needless to say, the next group I was in rocked hard. Finished the mission in about 15 minutes and got all 3 swords
Happiness points +10.

my story: (in a tyria jungle mission place)
n00b: I hope you die
me: I quitted the group before it started becasue by looking at the ppl level I know u can never succeed the mission.
n00b: I am not like you who play 24/7, but I am an older player than you, I played this game a year ago.
me: I don't play 24/7, whoever play this game can finish the game in a month, you are still stuck in this mission for a year means you are a n00b.
n00b:I quitted after a few days of play and came back recently, I haven't finished the missions becasue I mainly play PVP, what is your fame?
me: Well I am rank 9, what about you?
n00b: you suck
me: Rofl I am talking to a n00b who have played a few weeks and ask how much fame I have, you are truely a n00b.

Hell's Precipice:
I thought this was the time I was going to finally beat this mission. I am a monk / warrior. We just killed the first group of enemies at beginning. We killed them off fast too. I was spamming "My energy is 0 of 52!" and a stupid warrior runs off and starts up another fight. I can't heal unless I have energy numb nuts! He says sorry after I somehow managed to keep everyone alive. We move on to the next group, we kill them, then he goes off and aggros again!!! I am getting pissed. He dies after we all just stay back and watch him die (it was pretty funny). He is yelling "Heal me, Heal me!" I was laughing so hard I was crying. We all run in and fight off the rest and rez him. Then at the part where you are supposed to wait for the group to run past and then you are to run into a safe area, he runs off and aggros the whole group of around 15 and naturally dies. This guy doesn't give up. We wait for them to pass after killing him and rez him and run into the safe area and move on to kill next group. He finally listens and doesn't aggro. After we get done with bonus, he just leaves!!! That got me really pissed. I PM him and yell at him and he says "I just needed the bonus." What a jerk. I thought it was all over, but we went off and beat the mission with ease. I thought it was funny.

Two:
1) The first mission you get in Cantha after bringing over a Tyrian toon, the one where you have to keep Togo alive, etc. Myself, 2 guildies, 2 PUGgers, and hench take a swing at it ... either nobody spawns on the other side, or they stink, Togo dies, we rezone. This happens a couple times, guildies and I are chatting about how it's annoying having to retry until you get a competent team on the other side. At the third retry, the two PUGgers ragequit with a "You guys suck" message ... gotta love it.
2) When I found max purple weapons, sometimes I would save them and go to Ascalon and distribute them to the new guys, just to try and help out. Well, I advertise that I have a decent purple axe with cripple mod free to a warrior that needs it. I get a trade from a necro, and I ask
"Do you have a warrior or something as well?" (since he was N/Me)
he said "Yeah" so I give him the axe.
Once he accepts he sends a whisper "Haha, noob ... I don't have a warrior, i'm going to sell this axe for money"
So I whisper back "Um ... ok, great you tricked someone and got a 200gp axe. Congratulations on being a dumbass."
"I will get liek 10k 4 it, youll see"
And proceeds to spam the local and trade channels trying to sell it, I sat and watched amused for a while until he gave up and whispered back "Nobody wants your stupid axe"
EDIT: Earlier, in that same thread ....

heh.... ya know some of these newb/noob stories I can understand, but then there are just others that seem kinda cruel (like the person telling them should have been in the biggest jerk thread).
Dang some of you act like you have never in your gaming life had a noob moment *shakes head*
And Lord Iowerth I do the same thing - take and give stuff away.... a know that guy should have tried for 1-2k he might have gotten a bite lol and I agree on the rank emote.... I see someones IWAY rank flashed for the stupidest things and all I can do is laugh and shake my head.
Ah and the greatest are those of us who are infused for the Factions missions.... I still have yet to run into a monster in Factions that uses Spectral Agony *rolls eyes*
OH and even better still is when they combine the two together and you see this over local chat: "Infused Rank 6 W/Mo LFG!"
And here is where I go OMG! ARE YOU THAT BIG OF AN IDIOT! Firstly rank has nothing to do with pve and second you do not NEED to be infused.... This statement right here "Infused Rank 6 W/Mo LFG!" says one thing to me. I wasn't in a talented IWAY group, I farmed faction so I could get this nifty emote so that I never have to be newber again! -_-
