No, it has been stated repeatedly that the lvl barrier will always be lvl 20, this is for balance reasons

Being level 20 is the whole point of Guild Wars, otherwise it would be just another game.

reminds me o kotor 1. personally, ive never had a problem wit lvl cap. tho, one thing i have noticed during their explination is this:

if i remember correctly, they said that they didnt want higer lvl peeps preying on lower lvls. HOWEVER, since u get your own area when in explorable areas, i dun see how thats a problem. in WoW, higher lvls wud jus wait outside o towns till lower lvls walked out, then kill.

im not complaining, jus stating sumthing. may not even be a fact, but w/e

High levels would be able to prey on lower levels in the arenas. Imagine you and your group of 7 level 20 friends gets to the HoH and you find yourself facing a group of L30's simply because they bought chapter X and you didn't.

All the skills are reasonably balanced based around you having X amount of hitpoints and Y amount of attribute points that can be split among 8 or 9 attributes. Throw in more levels and that balance gets seriously out of wack.

Anyways I ahve one more thing to say the one reason why the lvl cap won't a shouldn't be raised is this.

In most games when you reach the cap the game ends. In guild wars when you reach the cap the game begins!

Being that it takes all of ZERO time to get to level 20 in the new chapter of guild wars, and if they REALLY wanna start balancing, why not start everyone at level 1, there's your level cap ppls, prefect balance. That's pretty much how it is now.

It's like, Golden Axe, or, Streets of Rage on the Mega Drive, except 3D, played by fanboys and more skills. :S

I dunno if anyone's said this yet, but the cap hasn't been raised.

Hey, what's this horse doing here? And why's everyone beating it?

Leveling up is part of the tutorial. It was more emphasized in Prophecies, it's considerably reduced in Factions.

But GW is a skill-based game. Attributes, build, equipment choices define your character. And since there's a strict cap on everything, player skill determines the final effectiveness.

It offers nice alternative to grind. Titles. They do not break mechanics, and actually show some meaningful achievement. But they do not penalize anyone, and a new character, powerleveled and ran through all the zones will be only as good as the player. Whether they took 1 day or 1 month to get to level 20.

And even in PvE levels don't matter. There are some high-level mobs, but they are only difficult due to the skills they use, not because of their level.

And level difference in PvP never brought anything good, just more or less effective, but generally borked solutions to prevent lowbie gankings or similar unbalanced combat.

LOL. I feel about as much "level advancement" and "roleplaying type character customisation" in those games, as I do this one.

I mean, seriously. You start the game, 8 hours or less later you're level 20 with both attirubute point quests out of the way. Then, a further, 80+ hours into it, you're level 20, couple of elite skills, same sword that looks different/better....

It's Golden Axe with a face lift and a bit of Heros of Might and Magic, FACE IT! hehe. I'm bored.

Given what you do not gain in GW when leveling up (Energy, Strength, Defense, ect.) going past level 20 would be pointless as it would only [possibly] mean more attribute points and with the way things currently run you have enough resources at level 20 to have three lvl 10 attributes* and it is attribute level that seperates a lvl20 character from a lvl 2 character not level.

*given you have finished the "attribute" quests

So, why there's TWENTY of these, in game "levels", we'll never know. 20 Levels of tutorial? That's extensive. hehe.

Well, technically speaking, you've just posted something off the top of your head without thinking at all. In guild wars, you gain HP and attribute points, which are forms of strength, defence, energy (for some classes)... so, yeah. MMm...

You gain attribute points with each level you advance also, so, you WOULD gain more atttribute points with higher levels.

AND YES, it's meaningless to gain levels past 20 in Guild Wars, the way it is set up now. I'm just, like, pointing out weird shit that you don't seem to have a grasp of, that's quite fundimental to the game.
