Armor is too expensive
So I get to Seitung Harbor and what do I find? Glorious new armor, finally a real upgrade.
And then the price hits me. Ritualist:
A Canthan set requires 16 steel ingots.
A Shing Jae set requires 16 leather squares.
A Seitung set requires 16 monstrous claws.
And these armors are only 45. I can't wait to see what they might be later. In a year of playing the game, that's 1/3 of my total ever salvaged steel ingots, 1/2 of my ever leather squares and well... I've only ever gotten 3 monstrous claws. And that's expert salvaging pretty much everything Jungle and beyond. How the @$& is this suppsoed to be purchased, ESPECIALLY by someone who hasn't had months of farming in Prophecies behind them?

Monstrous claws are not material crafter-able. Leather Squares and moreso steel ingots DEVOUR the tanned hide and iron/wood I already have used up so much of.

You don't always need the latest and greatest armor wherever you go (unless a warrior), Just wait until you find the 1.5k armor, and save up for that, by then you should have either the resources or the funds to acquire the armor.

I tried that with my other character. Things in the city were doing 200+ damage per hit because of the low armor. That's not an option. I skipped Shing Jae and Rose Garden's armor as it is.

Monstrous Claw should be craftable from the Rare-Materials Merchant.

Every armor has a cheap version with the same armor rating but no "extras". They cost like a half the amount of gold and require no rare materials.

I think crafting costs should be toned down. The ONLY time it ever *maybe* made sense to craft steel was when the traders were out of it during the beginning of Factions. Otherwise no matter how much it got marked up at the trader, it was still always cheaper just to buy (unless you miraculously got a bunch of charcoal drops. I've only seen three my whole GW career).
That said, I crafted Seitung Harbour armor and Kaineng Center armor during the worst of it without too much of a problem.

its weird how you need like (I forgot the exact numbers) 10 or something iron ingont, 1 charcoal and 200g to craft a steel igont. charcoal cost like another 100 i think.
while you can buy steel ignot for 300g

That's not crafting. Crafting is done at the 'materials' guy.

It's like saying that Plasma HD tv in the store should be cheaper so you can buy it because you want it because it looks pretty.
Come on, if you want it work for it. When propehcies came out it took me a week of stait farming in order to affor d 15k scars. Steel is not hard to get...go farm Sorrow's Furnace and expert salvage the armor there.
Stop wanting everything for free.
Claws and Eyes drop like candy from Afflicited I have 4 of each from about 3 days of playing.

Well the monsterous items have come back down a lot in price and now that a lot of rare materials are falling as drops you can expect all but the most high end rare materials to be reasonably priced. Shortages will cause price to spike because then, frankly, the players who have the goods can charge whatever they want and if you want it badly enough you'll pay. Still all kinds of interesting drops are falling form enemies. I've even gotten spiritwood planks from regular old enemies around that lagoon on the beginner island. Also a good place to farm for dye, Mantids like to drop it. you could probably spend a few hours a day just killing all the manitds and dragon lillies and tangled roots you find and come out ok for crafting materials. Between crappy item drops and the rare materials drops you can come away with all you need for your 1.5K armor set by the time you hit the mainland.

Try actually reading his post...
Doing all the factions quests and missions should have netted you 4k atleast. Just use that money.

I don't want things for free, I want things at a reasonable price. This isn't 15k armor here... This is measly little 45-defense armor from Seitung Harbor. I couldn't imagine how unimaginably expensive they've made the new 15k sets.
Sorrow's Furnace? Hah. Been there once, blah. "Farm" isn't something to do when I only get a precious few hours to play per week.

Please go compare to the armor prices in Henge of Denravi. Same armor value -- hugely less expensive. Glitter Dust is one of the "rare" materials for that armor.
