I stand by my original point.

Disband myself? Nope, the cape didn't bother me, but several posters here claimed to have done so.
I was among the crowd that asked for cape-toggles... I'm glad ANET listened
EDIT: Seriously, there's no right or wrong answer to the question of which toon gender is "politically correct." However, some toons are just much easier to look at than other. Do an /age report to see how long you've been staring at your avatar's back side
Someone posted this same thread in another GW-message forum a while ago. The general trend is that older male players tend to choose female avatars, while younger male players tend to choose male avatars. Just about every female player (my wife included) chose female avatars. Yes, real female players aren't too common, but they exist.
As usual, there are exceptions to the above, usually stemming from personal preference.

.I didn't read all the posts...*blinks* didn't read one...but there's nothing wrong with guys playing females and females playing guys in gw...I just recently made a male ranger and I'm a girl in RL...It's nice to play a guy character cuz then people don't hit on ya...Although I ignore it anyway and it rarely happens...Mmmkay, time to read all the posts.. D:
Edit: And...Most female warriors have very manly faces...There's maybe like, one or two that actually look girly...And I think I have a pretty girlie looking warrior...Anway, I don't go by what's sexy, who's the hottest, blah, blah, blah...Most of the time I want my characters to look goofy because it very much reflects my personality...And most of the female characters are a bit...um...revealing?...And that's why I kinda deleted my ele...But it all really comes down to personal preferences...I'm not flamin or anything...Just my opinion...

My toons are female. Am I desperate? Hell no! I married a real-life swiss/german hottie 7 months ago, and yes, she's also a PC-gamer

Nice, does she have any canadian friends??

unlike any scary Auntie Acid necro's running around... I made myself a lovely little necro with a mixture of Tormentor, Bonelace and Fanatic's armor all dyed orange... IMO HOT and I could stare at her backside all day. I grew up in the video game world of steriotypical Duke Nukem musclebound freaks to the point I was so disgusted by them I didn't know what to do. Then strong sexy female characters made the scene... like Lara Croft and from there it just got better. Since then I've always played the female characters in games over the males if the option is ever available. Playing FF games, I always have female characters on the team... those poor guys are so under developed hahaha... I married a hot korean woman over a year ago, I love women, always will. If I was a woman I'd still feel the same way, thats how strong I am in that desire. Pixeled or NOT... women rule in appearance in video games and I completely enjoy playing any game with them in it. To be honest though... no one has hit on my female characters. Which is fine by me, I don't wanna break any poor little boy's heart with the reality "omg your a guy?" heh.

It looks like my awesome "LOL WIN" picture has been deleted. I guess I'll have to make a relevant post, huh?
I play female characters because I identify with girls moreso than guys. I am far from the typical male stereotype of chips and beer and football. Hell, I don't even follow sports. I'm an arts kid. I have an aesthetic, and that's what I transfer into those little pixels onscreen. I prefer the elegance of a slim, womanish figure over that of a weight lifter's. That's why I chose to make a female elementalist, female monk, female mesmer, female warrior, and female ranger - several now deleted, obviously. It's a preference for either a look, a sex, or some other factor.

I have to females a tank and a pvp char as well as 2 lvl 20 char which are male a monk and a necro and i have to agree females get treated way better like when i was buyin ecto the other day on my female tank(yes dis may seem sick and i cant believe i do it but it works out for me to be a better gamer and merchant) buyin ecto when i see dis guys sellin em for 13k each now of cause me as a honest merchant would not pay this much so i get in with a quest he was doin and start talkin to him in a girlie way like half flirting but without me throwing up at my own sickness and in the end and i eneded up gettin em for around 7k each now dats why female chars are a joy.

There was a review for guild wars once it went something like this:
"Guild Wars, where the men are men, and the women are supermodels"

I know what you mean, I just wish we could have more scanty armor/clothes for males too. I think its bad that only females get the option to look like total scanks.

well male rangers look like bums so i prefer female male eles are fine by me male warriors are fine although i swap between male and female sometimes male monks look AWFUL! although female has like 2 good haircuts better than the male monks 1 good haircut which is BALD so not really a ''hair cut'' male mesmers look like batmans side kick robin and they dance really badly although they are good for a laugh hehe female mesmers just have more style. thats my 2 cents.. sorry about the severe lack of full stops .

Or maybe they could just cover up the girls more. Like mesmer clothes, or something.
I've always wondered how hydromancer armor managed to protect against the cold.

Imho the people getting pissed about male players choosing a female character are playing too much. Why should anyone care what gender the player of a female character has, if he is not trying to flirt said player?
There is nothing wrong with playing female characters, unless you pretend to be female as well. People need to understand one thing, this is Guildwars and not Dating-Online. After they understood that, they won't care about rl gender either.

This is the first on-line game I have played and started off with a male ranger, being new to the world of on-line gaming i often asked for help or advice. However when I started a new female necro because the character model looked better, I found that people were more willing to help. Thats the reason why most of my characters are female you normally get treated with more respect.

I beg to differ. My monk character is the only male in my account. The female monks look all the same - it's just that some are half-bald and some are 75% bald ... take your pick!
On the other hand, female mesmers, elementalists, rangers and even necros are far easier on the eyes than the female monk is.
I mean, what's the deal with that Katherine Hepburn-style pant-suit female monk armor? Very unflattering. The male monk armor looks much better than the female monk armor - every version.
P.S. Male monks aren't fat ...
