Default Special miniature pet for CE owners

from the GW website:

Quote:
Factions Collector's Edition Gift 3 May 2006
Factions CE buyers, we have great news! To show our appreciation for your support and patience as you wait for your CE to arrive, we decided yesterday afternoon to create a special Collector's Edition Thank You Gift. When you activate your Factions Collector's Edition access key, you will receive an in-game gift box containing a miniature of the dragon Kuunavang! Double click the box to reveal your miniature dragon. The gift will be one per account and will function like a Birthday Miniature. That is, they will be tradable, sellable (for in-game currency only!), or exchangeable between your characters. You will find your gift on the first character you bring into the game after we are able to implement this feature. We anticipate we will have these gifts ready within the next 10 days. And don't worry – all who purchase a Collector's Edition will receive a Thank You Gift!
Looks like good things come to those who wait after all, eh?

OK Thank you GW I think I just changed my mind about my CE!

OK way to go, this was a really unexpected surprise! I wasn't to impressed when I saw what the backup dancers would look like, but I have been so jealous of the people with minipets (in a polite way that is). I was just going to get a regular factions instead - but MINI DRAGON!!!!!! YAY!!!

In case ya can't tell I feel so much better!

FTW GW TEAM!

Nifty, although you might want to change your thread title, since these little miniatures are not technically "pets" ... I got all excited when I read the thread title

I'll wait to see some screens of what it looks like 'fore I dish out more $.

would I be able to add a CE key to my acct that already has the normal version of factions?

I'm assuming it's the same as prophecies here, so I would say yes. I know for a fact you can add a prophecies CE key to a regular prophecies account, I would be 99% sure Factions works the same.

That was me being too angry to post without triggering the filter. What about the people who were going to buy the CE, but then decided not to because of the delay? I didn't want to be teased for a couple of days, then have to wait a couple days, etc... Now, of course people are going to tell me I should have, that I'm not a hardcore fan because I'm impatient, but oh well.

Why doesn't A-Net allow people to buy (for like $5-$10) the dances and/or the presents? An aesthetic bonus (the dances) was cool and nothing to get upset over, but now the CE buyers also get a reward that'll allow them to get rich in the game if they chose to sell. I'm not saying I don't sympathize with them for having their games delayed, because I do, but that's a bit ridiculous.

This is wonderful news, and to be honest I wasn't so concerned about the whole wait anyway.

Alright, that was my only rant. I'm over it. But, I stick with my suggestion of being able to pay $5 or so for the dances, because I saw them a couple days ago and came up with that idea.

It's not so ridiculous when you hear about how much the Birthday Miniatures are selling for.

Do you mean the prices went dramatically down already?

Actually, I think alot of hardcore fans bought the regular already, not wanting to wait. You may be one of them. The casual players I think waited because they wouldn't miss a few days. I, myself, had planned on waiting till Friday and am happy to do so. If they had done this after Friday and I couldn't get the CE, that's ok..

I imagine the real hardcore players have bought the regular and will buy the CE anyways (possibly having multiple accounts)..

I like this solution. I was just commenting on the mini's the other day thinking a dragon would be neat (like maybe the bone dragon). I guess the guy that said I was a fortune teller was on to something :-) Thanks for the Dragon ANet, I look forward to it...

No, I mean they're absurdly high, too. I'm seeing Mini-Ruriks selling for upwards of 600k, a Bone Dragon selling for similar+ectos...it's all ridiculously high, haha.

Pity my oldest character isn't old enough to get their Birthday present yet.

Ah, ok. Well, that's what I meant. It's ridiculous for the CE players to get something worth that much. They can't sell the dance emote for in game money. Patience is being rewarded by something that does have monetary value in the game. Perhaps A-Net should make the new presents non-tradable, like the pre-order weapons are.

You are aware that the Birthday Miniatures aren't CE-exclusives, right? Everyone gets those. They differ from character to character, I think. But each character will receive one on that character's "birthday."

Kuunavan is to reward CE buyers for being so patient, and I think it's a nice touch. Oh, Kuunavan isn't just a regular dragon or anything. He's the bastard that killed everyone during the FPE.
