Forgive the "PvP ers", they know not what they say. They probably just took that statement litterally. ANet were clearly talking about the "I'm Wielding Better Greens" form of Player-versus-Player competition.

The PvPers are in their own world, just like the PvErs are.. I mean really if you go in Heroes' Ascent International District 1 and you do HA alot, you will 90% of the time find a person who you know, have played with before, etc... in that district making or looking for group.. PvPers will stick around, most of the people in high guilds have dedicated themselves just to playing Guild Wars when they are on the computer, however that is not the case for the PvE guys. PvE guys get on, play a little/farm/run others/etc.., and go off to play another game when they get bored of the same old thing.

So basically, the PvP guys is the ones who really are in big need to purchase Factions for the skills, characters, and items because they will be required to use Factions' things for playing in groups. Do you need Factions things for doing quests/missions/farming/running others? No, not really. If you are a hardcore PvPer, you will absolutely go out and buy factions because, well let's face it, you love the game. If you are on the game to play around a few times because your friend has it and he's showing off his factions' stuff in pve, i don't think you should be mad about anet's policy. I think Guild Wars is a MMORPG masterpiece, I will gladly spend the bucks to get the new stuff because of such a great job that the developers have achieved with the game.

I don't see more than 1 dist, in Aspenwood or the Jade querry.
Fort Aspenwood and Jade Quarry are PvE only, more than half way through the game, offering nothing to PvP only players. This is more indicative of the fact that most PvE players would rather run Supply runs or do repetitive quests over thinking about strategies and PvP.

Regardless, I'm not sure how this affects Prophecies PvE players at all.

When I wrote MUDs back around 1990, the majority of our players were 'chat fiends' - After doing all the basic quests and getting to a desired point they would just gather near the login points and chat all day long.

When PvP came along, it only ever took about 10-15% of the players in. The rest kept complaining that they were getting mobbed in the chat hangouts by PvP people, until we found ways to seperate the groups (this was 1990, and our ideas for all this were still forming).

I just got Guild Wars, and in the day I've been playing and growing my first character to level 7, everytime I hit a common location I see hordes of people sitting around or using the dance command and never going beyond the first level or two - and they're just chatting.

I've watched other people play other 'MMO' and 'MMO-like' games, and everytime I watch, I see them constantly running past places that are just large zones of individuals standing around chatting and using humorous emotes.

I could be completely wrong, but it seems to me that while the graphics have come a long way since 1990, the players are still using these games the same way they did way back when.

Sometimes they are even the same players. Got my first 'Immortal' in 1989. I even have the scroll that came with it!

*heh* Maturity ftw!

Anet run a business not a charity, they have made this game to make money, so if you want new skills/content you have to pay. If you don't wanna pay well......
