Firstly I think you missed the OPs point of view. He was wondering WHY its like this and why people think like this and how many think like this. I don't think he ever said that he agrees with that way of thinking. And no its not a very small minority. I have personally known about 30 people over the course of the time I have been playing who solely pvp and nothing else. They took a prebuilt and farmed faction to unlock nearly everything. If they got REALLY bored they did a slight bit of pve but said it sucked cause people were stupid and thusly went back to earning fame and faction. And oddly enough all of them were that closed minded. I know that they are just a small fraction fo people who think the same.

While it isn't half the people in the game it is about around 25% - which to you might be small but when another 25% of the game is made up of farmers then well - lol there ya go. Granted these numbers are not based on fact and are just rough estimates. Being a typical pve player who occassionally does pvp/hoh/gvg - I still run into so much riftraft no matter what area I play in. However I have met plenty of crappy pve-ers but at least 80% of them have been decent people with just a general love for the game.

The worst of the places tho is RA - I won't play there anymore. It's all about talking smack and rage quitting. Nor am I there to babysit bots or freeloaders. *shrugs* To each his own, but I generally won't pug anything - I take henchies or guildies and I truly respect those who don't rage quit even when all the chips are stacked against them ^_^!

There are PvE-only people, and PvP-only people. I'm PvP-only.

You're assuming everyone else must be like you? On what basis?

The OP does have a point. PvP-only people tend to look down on PvE-only people. That's because PvP-only players are basically competent in PvE, when we want to be (we lack memorization of the maps, enemy skills, etc., but we understand the mechanics), while PvE-only people get dropped so fast they think they're in a time warp when they come try to PvP.

Not all PvE-ers suck. Not all PvP-ers are good. But the best players are PvP-ers, by and large, whether they PvE also or not. It's a real sentiment among the PvP-crowd, but it's a real sentiment because it's true.

Are PvP-ers better people? No. Are they better players? Statistically, yes. Does it matter? I don't see why. Do PvP-ers look down on PvE-ers? Yes. Does it matter? I don't see why. Who cares what other people think about how you play the game?

Wow.

EDIT: I had typed out a nice response to this, but realized that it could only turn into a flame war, so I'll pass.

It's attitudes like this, however, that just plain dumbfound me.

again this is degenerating into a PvE vs PVP flame fest...

that is NOT THE PURPOSE OR TOPIC OF THIS POST.....

the purpose it to find a way to get Pvper's to respect each other's choice in what type of PvP they play.....if that is even possible.

Is it?

Should it be possible? Sure. Is it? No. As long as there's an opportunity to put people down for doing something differently than you do, people will do it.

ok um first off.. I thought an mmo was meant for pve? and for those pvpers that think pve is for sissies, difficulties for getting in group(since many people haven't gained enough rank in the past) would drive people away from HA. And some pvpers tell me that they only do HoH since they pretty much failed pve.

Seeing I just came back from a tiring Swim Meet I skipped to the bottom.

RA and TA- fun areas to play with guildies and to try out new builds.
HA- PVP elitism comes out and it's buckets of joy, if your on that team winning.
GVG- Same as above for HA.

All abut tactics and cordination, and alot of button mashing.

I find the snobbery in HA hilarious. So much 'pwn', 'teh' and 'noob' that it craks me up. Less 'snob' but more 'g33korz'. Six months ago I'd give a /bow to the good PvPers and let them be 'snobbish' because it was earned. Now its a race to see who can spike the fastest and say "we pwnt j00 nubz!"

Edit: That doesn't apply to everyone that is high ranked though. One r9 saint that i know has been running me and other r1-r3 people in builds in HA. I was the infuser and got a code=7 and they went to and won HoH (F**K >_<) yet they still managed it with a hench. This guy and a guidlie of his even said that rank really doesn't matter and doesn't reflect someone's abilty despite having cool flashy tigers themselves. You know who you are and respect to you

And what's even funnier, the guy doesn't even know that he is making an idiot of himself because for every green item there's a PvP item with the same or better stats (or you can make it using unlocked mods).
thats funny because all pvpers who i'd had in a group flash their little fame emote even though it mean jack sh*t and these same pvp heros who know so much tend to be the ones who die very quickly then cry about it for 10 seconds before rage quitting.
a pvpers attitude isnt a sociable one, so those of us who like to have fun and enjoy playing will stick to our pve and you pvpers with your elitism and insecure rage can just have fun running around in your little arenas copying each others builds.

I agree with Dove. This thread proves that you just can't make a thread with PvE or PvP in the title without everyone going batfreak insane.

I didn't flame did I >_>?
And any strictly pvp player I have played with doesn't seem to hold a candle to some PVEers I have played with... I've seen it a lot honestly - they can't hold agro, they agro everything, and they never know when to run when the chips are down even tho they have a clearing for miles!
The reason they don't do the last, is because in pvp it's pretty much futile to be the last man standing.... Agro won't stay stationary in pvp

They are two different worlds and while skill and build ideas might work similar in both instances it is fundamentally different. I am an excellent pvp player when it strikes my fancy, its just not what I prefer to do. However because I don't play pvp all that much I don't have the rank 6 to flash at over zealous must be l33t to play with us teams.

Like I said, everyone has their own views and opinions but thats what I have seen as a fact in running with the crews that I do. I can train my pve-ers to pvp... It's a lot harder for me to train a pvp to pve -_- (and it really shouldn't be)

From my experience, PvP players find it very easy to play PvE at a high level, they're just too lazy to worry about perfectly held aggro or any of that nonsense, because it's unnecessary to get by.

Yeah, this reminds me of that 'How to WIN PVE' video made by a bunch of PvPers. That was hilarious.

It was basically a video flashing some text with the 'rules' of PvE on the screen, like hold aggro or whatever, and then the players doing exactly the opposite, and still destroying the mobs.

And yes, they did win PvE.

I think the last few posts speak for themselves. Once again, you have managed to twist this into a PvE vs. PvP flamewar.

Closed.
