That should tell you a lot. People are not passionately discussing things unless they care about it a lot. So, even if they are unhappy, they do care about this game.
Quoted for truth.

No matter what negative things I might say about Guild Wars, it's because I like the game. If I disliked it, I wouldn't bother.

It'd be a very boring forum if all that existed were people who gushed praises about the game. Lucky for us we are blessed with such interesting conversations and opinions

Some people might go a little far with their passion, but if the players have no desire for a better product, why should Anet? Do we really want Guild Wars to become the Madden NFL of RPGs

QFT..Amen and Amen

Only way to really know if you will like it is to, buy the product or take it for a test drive, from someone you know who has the product.

i would agree

the reason I post my ideas is because i want to see guild wars get better. I just know what will work in a game. I have helped bioware in the past by writing them. They have used my ideas, even one of my firends that i went to school with works there.

For anet yes I am hard on you but it is for your own good. I am chanllege anet to push their standards.

RPG -for the rpg side anet's goal should be the best rpg ever. Meaning I want to see if they can produce something better than NEVER WINTER NIGHTS

PVP- I want to see anet make a pvp better than unreal tourment or the best pvp game out there.

Mmorpg- I want them to be better than WOW.

I am chanelling all of anet devs, artist, programers, to produce the aultament game they can.

I remeber in beta I had asked the dev tema cool stuff like run and jump. Now some of them regrite not adding those stuff.

I also go as the blackman in some fourms :P.

Unfortunately they have pretty much failed in all your points there Dreamhunk. Even in the 'better than NWN', which - lets face it is aiming pretty low.

Well... GW isn't an MMO, why you keep trying to make it one I don't understand; WoW and GW are in two very different genres with little in common.

As for Unreal, thats an FPS a different genre yet again, you must like turning oranges into potatos. And all of your ideas have been done in other games... so whats the point of making a game that is simply a clone of some other game?

the fact remains gw is competing with those products. I am sorry to say that people are going to compare guild wars to other mmorpg. If your look at a pvp game. Yes gw is the best mmorpg pvp. However compare it to otther pvp game. It doesnot meet up to them.

If anyone needs to "live with it", it's people who hate it, as you seem to.

People like me, who like it, are "living" with it just fine. Playing it and enjoying it.

On the otherhand, people who hate it are all riled up and b!tching about it all the time.

So really, who's having trouble "living with it"? Isn't it obvious??

Obviously those that hate it can't abide the fact that some people like it, otherwise there would be no reason for a comment such as "live with it". You desperately want to convince us it's crap, because YOU think it's crap.

I'm going to go back to the game now, and continute to "live with it".

Because flying off the handle at someone who says something negative about a video game you like is a great way to show that you don't care about what they say.

Why, you support the poor underpaid developers by buying Factions.

Daddy will there be a dinner today ? I'm sorry sweetheart, you'll have to wait till daddy finishes working on that standalone expansion. Now go to your room and ask baby Jesus to give Daddy a lot of overrated reviews and teenage fanboys.

If you are talking to me (quoting is a great tool to help avoid such confusion), I want to point out that I did not "fly off the handle", nor did I ever state that I care or don't care what people who hate the game think.

And he didn't say something specifically negative about the game. He made his opinion of it's not being as good as Prophecies out to be fact. I was merely pointing out that the truth of the matter, that people who hate it are far more in need of "getting over it" then those that like it.

One could also point out your defensively jumping in to defend him shows that the truth may have hit a little to close to home for you.

Well I was in 'Target' today to get some dishsoap and I noticed GW Factions going for $10 off, so I got it.

Maybe in a month or so I'll have my own comment to add to this thread for 'reasons why I should get it.'

Sure you did, all thanks to the power of exaggeration. You know, just like people who have anything critical to say about Guild Wars automatically hate it and are "all riled up and b!tching."

While you didn't state it, but your attitude oozes "Well, whatever, your pathetic opinions don't matter to me."

So he can't state his opinion as fact but your opinion of how people conduct themselves and how they actually feel about the game is the truth of the matter.

Gotcha.

I was "defensively jumping in to defend him" because you were offensively jumping in to offend him.

All the folks on these forums are avid fans of the guild wars series . They are among the most loyal customers for Anet . The reason they are posting negative comments et. is to make sure guild wars improves all the time.

We wouldn't bother to post at all ,if we thought the game was bad , we'd move on to another game .It's all in the hopes our suggestions for improvement get picked up by Anet that we post them .

Sometimes the language in those posts gets a bit "over-emotional" but this is because the fans feel so strongly about these matters and express that in the only known way : fan-forums .

It must sometimes seem like we hate the game ( for folks like Gaile Gray and Alex weekes ) ,but I can assure you and them this isn't the case . Like I said : why would we even bother posting about the game if we hated it ??

If you're completely new to guild wars I'd advise for you to buy prophecies first and learn the game-mechanics' ins and outs . In factions the "tutorial " is rather short so it can all become quite daunting for newcomers.

When you play a character to the point when you arrive in Droknar's forge you will already have decided if it's for you or not ( maybe well before that ) and when it is i can almost guarantee you'll buy factions , if only for the two new classes and extra content .

I have really enjoyed playing Factions. I can't really say which chapter I like better because they both have their finer points. I would "dare" you to get Factions and make your own decision on whether it's for you or not.

With the two new professions and a whole new land to explore...where can you go wrong?

Arcady, I have a sense of who you are, because we've bumped into each other on various forums (mutants and masterminds). I think you'll like Factions.

I started with Prophecies 12 months ago, because I loved the idea of no monthly fee. I played the heck outta Prophecies.

I really like Factions. I'm not quite playing the heck out of it like Proph. But I'm having fun. Some of the areas are just drop dead gorgeous. Some of the new skills make for fun tinkering with Prophecy characters.

I enjoy the alliance battles, don't take them too seriously, but it was a nice way to grab some faction pts and for a quick change-up on my monk.

I played last night with a PUG (pick up group) that was hilarious and complicated and we got lost (I got lost, as it was my first time attempting that mission)... but we persevered and got it done. That was satisfying.

I'm towards the back end of the game with my primary character, and I'm noticing that there are not a lot of folks there yet. Or maybe they are all on hte Luxon side (I went Kurzick because of my guild).

i've also started a necro, which I've never done before, a ritualist and an assassin. Being primarily a monk, knowing what the jinks of the assassin and ritualist are is important to me. The best way to know, is to play them.

Fun stuff.

if only some people would learn how to read, where did i say i hate it?
i said its not as good as prophecies, sorry if i offended your sensitive, over defensive mind.

thanks for replying though, going off on one like that over an innocent comment which didnt even contain the phrase you seem to be so offended by.

enjoy life in gw

Once they have rushed themselves, skipping all content, going straight for the elite mission while not trying to find builds for it but instead copying other people builds which takes them 5 minutes to do, they complain about factions having zero content.
ANet tries to fix that by forcing these people to NOT skip content but then the people start complaining that they can't skip the content that apparently doesn't exist.

Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Yes thats why I say Anet f*** these bunch of dim witted complaining a**holes and send them all to f*** themselves so they wont have to complain that f***in much.
