Why Spam is OUTA OF CONTROL beyond reason, and yet anet hasn't done anything bout it!!! I have 2 very simple and easy to do answers to eliminate spam.
1. Have a good spam filter....
2. Have someone in each of the most spammed towns that works with anet, have them ban everyone who spam. EASY!!!!
Not that easy, even with the new spam filters redirecting WTS and WTB to trade, people avoid it. Sadly. There are however plenty of towns that have less spam then others. Try spending more time in International districts less trade spam (close to none) more chat, however more empty towns too.

Another reason i am leaving if because i have only gotten 1 good drop, it was a 15% always req 9 gothic sword. Which i went to sell for 20k on here.... Think that's my fault it's not, i put it up for bid, no one told me it was worth more when they easily can, i had over 100 veiws on the thing....
This part is mostly me I've been scammed alot.
Arm yourself with knowledge, nobody else will look after you if they can make money not doing so. Sadly this is true. If you get a drop that you think is good, use the price check forum before selling, or search auctions.
My best drop was a 10/10 sundering mod when they were worth arround 25k and a rune of sup vigor. However, who needs all that money.

[qoute]Almost everyone online if a RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing asshole.[/quote]

I don't know what server your on, but I have encountered more nice people then jerks in gw, maybe it's time to switch to another server.

Honoustly, would you want to be in a guild with such an attitude? Glad to be rid of them I would say. However it is sad that Anet does not take action towards this.

Did i mention i never get crap for drops?
Yes you did.

It's almost impossible to find a group, i have a Ranger and War and A Necro, and i have had to sit for days sometimes longer trying to find a group for a mission..
Henches and guildies all the way. Now you've had some trouble with guilds, but there has to be a guild out there that is you're type of guild. Try finding one on this forum, there has to be one. I don't know the forum policy for finding a guild, but plenty of friendly guilds out there.

Still, finding groups with a Warrior should be doable. Necro's and rangers get more love in Cantha, everybody and their mom wants a MM in their group it seems.

Well there are people who act like immature jerks no matter the person's sexual preference, best to just ignore them.

You didn't say more about the subject than 'kicked from guild', I dont' see anything "wrong" in kicking a person, but if it was combined with verbal abuse etc, it should be bannable indeed.

Spartan,

You've got serious issues. Are you the type of person that blames everyone else for your troubles? Cos it seems so.

Did you have a hard time coming out?

The thing I like about this game is that there are so many ways to have fun with it. If you are fed up with what you are currently doing, do something different for a while or take a break from the game totally and read a few books or something.

I have played for 11 months and in that time I don't think I have had one perfect drop, and certainly not anything "uber". The highest I have sold an item for in this time is 80K for a close to but not perfect chaos axe.

I am absolutely sure that I have sold things in the past for considerably less than their true value, but now I have several price check threads and the various weapon price baseline threads bookmarked. If I find something I think may have any value or maybe worth salvaging, I minimise Guildwars and check these threads first.

I am the leader of my own guild of one person, so I generally play with hench. Almost all missions (including the Ring of Fire) are henchable.. maybe not first time as you need to learn the way the monsters move and may need to adjust your skill set etc. I actually like working out how to beat a mission that you fail on a few times.

Also, I make it a point (and have made the same point to my son who also plays the game) never to discuss or reveal detailed personal information with people online, be that in a game environment, on MSN or on a message board such as this. This is just common sense as you really never know who you are talking to in this kind of environment. Most people are pretty genuine, but there will always be the few who are simply strange, weird or even dangerous.

LOOOOOOOOOOL!

If guilds full of young males decide its not in their best interest to have a gay in their guilds you have to respect that!

ROFL, I cant beleive you reported someone for kicking you out of a guild...

OMG, thats SO made my day.. ROFLMAO, PMSL!

Maybe you should find a Girls Guild or another "Gay Guild" ?...

You dont know me. For all you know I could be gay too. Why all the agro? You telling me gay people do not make gay jokes?

Sad that Saix gets attacked so heavily in this thread even if his opinions might be different from majority.

Not everyone take in-game insults and overall rudeness very easily and just pass it out of the window.

There are some very 'intellectual' smart-ass comments towards Saix in this thread that would have been just best to left unwritten.

I think the only thing I can say, is that people play this game for THEIR own enjoyment. To put it a different way, they want to have fun and sometimes it involves others not having fun. PVP is a great example of this type of fun.

You mentioned earlier that you are a heavy PVP player and this is where you are going to find the larges concentration of turds in the game. And you will find this type of childishness on any online game so its not just guild wars.

There are however people that are friendly and accepting of others and one way you can find these types of people is for you to go out of your way to help others you dont know.

I used to run people to droknars forge for free, I have several long term friends because of that reason, I suggest to you, find something in the game you are good at and enjoy and share it with others. I think the game will turn itself around for you.

Good luck to you

Saix, unfortunately the general rule of thumb on the internet is

decent person + internet anominity + audience = dumbass (I think penny arcade had a cartoon about it )

Part of finding a good guild is finding a group of people you can get along with and respect. Joining the first guild that says "new guild, join and become an occifar" isn't a good way to do that. Look for an established web presence, check out any forums they have, etc. Doing this before you join is a good first step to finding out if you'll fit in.

To address your issues.

You didn't get a great drop - get over it, plenty of collector/crafter items out there. It's simple enough making gold in this game, if you desperately want a certain skin save for it.

You got scammed on your one good drop - You've already shown you can post, there is a price check forum on this site, you could have used that.

Spamming - As people have said turn off the chat when you're not using it.

Scammed - You have to take part in the scam to be scammed, people can't pick your pockets or mug you. People that pay attention don't get scammed.

Kicked from guild for being gay - Last I checked there wasn't a sexuality flag on your characters, and I certainly don't wander around telling people 'Hi I'm Sean, I'm heterosexual'. You don't need to tell them.

You certainly sound like you've had a rough time, perhaps some of that can be attributed to the attitude you've shown on this thread. Remember you're posting on a 'fan site' for Guild Wars.

With all the PUGs I've run with in this game, I've never given as thought to a person's race or sexual preference. It just doesn't matter to me. I DO care about good teammates who respect each other, bottom line. That's how you meet people and make friends on here. If you're coming across as overbearing, or constantly making an issue about your sexual preference in a game (and I'm NOT saying that you did), you HAVE to expect some type of respponse from people. And, being that players have a huge amount of anonymity online, you HAVE to expect the responses (unfortunately) to be really offensive (again, unfortunately, you'll have to chalk that up to "human nature").

Scamming--you're gonna tell me that no one has ever tried to scam you in real life? You have to take precautions when it comes to buying and selling. Try some research on the items you're looking to buy/sell.

Spamming--it's like a hundred conversations going on at a party; you can't tell everyone to shut up at a party, now, can you? We all have to live with it. Take comfort in knowing that there ARE some quiet spots in Tyria/Cantha...

As far as reporting people who kick you out of a guild---waste of time. The answer to this is simple--form your own. With the hundreds and thousands of people playing this game, I'd have a hard time believing that you wouldn't be able to find people to join.

Last point; about crappy drops--do you hear it? There are about 1,000 violins playing for people (including me!) who could complain about crappy drops; that doesn't stop me from playing this game, though.

In the end, you have to remember--this is a GAME. If you don't like it, you always have the option of leaving; if you like it, I would hope you stick with it a little more...

Both true, cannot agrue with at all. But if you start your thread by calling everyone arseholes, then you will be attacked. If you just ask for help, help will more than likely be given (unless you start laying into them first).

I'm a guild and alliance leader myself.. I don't know the sex/race/sexuality/nationality/preferences/etc of most of my allies and many of my guildies (that I don't actually know personally). There's a reason for this. That reason is that we mainly play the game, quite a bit semi-character (referring to someone as she that I blatantly know is a guy - someone I know personally - because the character is a she), and talk mainly about the game and our adventures. We don't log in to talk politics, sexuality, nationality, or any of that stuff. That doesn't really belong in the game. That may be why some people are kicking you out of their guilds. I know I sure would if you kept talking telling everyone 'hey guys I'm a heterosexual, I really prefer the opposite sex alot', when we really just don't care. It may be important to you (your religion, nationality, policitcal/sexual bias, etc) but in-game we really don't give a shit about your out of game stuff. Either you're a Luxon or a Kurzick. Either you're a male or a female. People need to quit bringing this out of game shit into the game.
