Shiro vs. The liche
To me, the liche seems more like your stereotypical villain with a better and more surprising plot behind him. He also seems like the type that you could have coming back again and again throughout the series. However, Shiro seems to have more depth and mystery to his character. In a 1 on 1 battle Shiro could probably massacre the liche with all his inflicted, although the liche had a large amount of titans on his side. Both were head advisors to their rulers, and both ended up destroying a large chunk of land (vizier = orr, shiro = cantha).
That being said, who is the better villain?

Shiro to me seems like a more "realistic" villian, at least his original motives seemed more down to earth.
After he became the emporer's bodygaurd, he started getting very paranoid and ended up killing the emporer before [he thought] the emeporer could kill him.
The Liche was just evil to be evil.

for me shiro is better than the lich, i mean, the lich the only thing i saw he did was to teleport a party member to the lava, while shiro would teleport any party member into the mist, and replace him with a shirokeen (sp?), not to mention his "impossible odds" skill wich took me by surprise the first time i faced him with henchies and we were having a group hug around him

the Lich at least got a plan. Shiro is the typical easily manipulated bully which has no going back except to continue his misguided quest.

Liche by far, the lich was tuff. Shiro is you basic tanking sin, we beat him in seconds. Well by we, I meant the team. He banished me right off the bat and by the I got time, I just had enough time to activate deadly riptose and hit him once.

What is a "basic tanking sin"? o.o
The Lich was alot stronger. You could probably 2-3 man Shiro, hes very easy.
In terms of character development: Shiro. The Lich thing was based around a stupid plot. Mumra The Ever Living < The Lich

I don't know what story you were reading, but you need to pass it on because Shiro is not a realistic villain, which is because there is no story to explain why he is a villain.

Ok, you guys definately have a storyline I didn't see because there is no way in hell Shiro had better char development than The Lich.

I think the lich is more powerful. The Vizer (Lich) destroyed Orr with a very powerful magic, while Shiro simply brang the jade wind. I think its pretty obvious that titans > afflicted and shiro'ken.

1) Shiro has no class, stop speculating.
2) The afflicted don't obey Shiro, they are the result of his passing. The Shiro'ken obey him.
3) The titans are no testiment to the Lich's strength (he took over them on a gamble), tbh he shows no real magical capability except teleportation and casting Chimera (ok, that makes him awesome I guess).
Lich voice acting > Shiro voice acting
Lich > Shiro, much better developed and a more interesting character overall.

I would have to say the Lich. We dont learn the truth about the Lich until the end. With Shiro we know from the start. The Lich's plan was world domination and Shiro's was revenge. The Lich took a friend and made him an enemy. With Shiro never succeded in that. The Lich look scarier. Shiro just looked big. Last of all the lich was around for a couple of years at least and Shiro was around for about 2 minutes.

I can just imagine the fight now...- Shiro teleports Lich into mists, Lich easily returns from mists
- Lich teleports Shiro into the... uh... lava that is apparently there. Since Shiro is so... um... powerful he ignores the effects of the lava.
- Shiro teleports Lich
- Lich teleports Shiro
- Etc.
Now all we need is one of those damn Siege Turtles from Aspenwood to randomly teleport both of them when they get too close to it (because apparently turtles can just do that). And the turtle actually does damage with the teleportations.
Basically, the Siege Turtle wins in the Lich vs. Shiro fight. GG.

Lich summons 400 spark of the titan to rodgort spike Shiro for 400x192 damage. Shiro in response summons several shiroken eles that try to starburst the imps dead, only to learn the imps have inferno that does more damage and kills them first.
Lich wins. He also has more than one life, gg.

Lich teleports Shiro three hundred feet in the air, and little mortal human smashes into the stone.

Well, I was trying to be faithful to the actual boss battles (up until the Siege Turtles, that is), but I'm pretty sure Shiro can levitate.

Yes, but there is a difference between providing some 1000N of upward force in intense meditation, and... hmm... 100kgx80m/s^2 = alot more force (no people who know physics properly, I don't need you to correct it) of downward falling, while probably panicking and having your soul thrown through a vortex.
Also, his levitation ability is severely limited by the fact he isn't a spirit anymore, he's only using martial abilities, hence his limitations.
Furthermore, we can assess that say, a stoning spell does about 70 damage? Or so? And the stone is about.. lets say 3% of his body area, so the FLOOR would do roughly 2400 damage, multiplied by the increased velocity and addition of head trauma...
So yeah. He'd still be owned.

Shiro's levitate is a big lie.
My Ranger traps still hit him while he's using it lol
Plus the Lich had a great voice actor behind it, Shiro's voice is well annoying
