Show me a first strike warrior skill that does 112 damage...
Warriors can hit for around 100 damage on a strike given the right conditions (penetration, customised, auto-crit etc, +skills). Add to that the nature that this kind of damage is sustainable and you have the reason why they are the hardest hitting class in the game. No pun intended.
So damage reduction took a bit of a knock. So what? Your forgetting who still has the most natural armour AND the best form of attack in the game. Last time I checked, no other class gets absorption runes...
Oh, by the way, those comparing elementalist damage to that of the warrior are fooling themselves something serious. Maybe nearly all elementalist skills should have an armour ignoring component, and be able to cause critical damage also. How about some adrenaline spells to while we're on the subject. So they can charge up a spell and use it no matter how much energy they have left.
Show me a first strike warrior skill that does 112 damage. Why this is an unfair "balance" is that warriors have to be able to take damage till they have built up enough adrenaline. A lot can happen in 8 strikes of adrenaline. Before you bother throwing me in the "noob warrior group" I have over 2,200 hours on my warrior alone. Let's level the playing field and make casters have to build up to their big attack skills. If they are going for realism then feel free to show me a person that can take 8 swings from an axe. As one poster pointed out ... put two people on a hill one with a shield one without ... guess who would be more crispy in a realistic test. Yes, we can purchase new shields but after 14 months who has room for a few more weapon sets. This is just another in a long line of reasons to look into other games. Flame away.
With 13 axe mastery I can hit over 150 if my opponent has very low AL, with skills like excexutioners strike, assuming I get lucky and hit for my max. I can also only do 50 with the same attack on the same opponent.
Go spend some more time playing the game and you'll realize that this doesnt change much of anything, save for some good ol' Wammo Solo IDS runs, which I doubt ANet will undo because, last I checked, they intended GW to be a Team Game.
You can still Tank (if you know how to), you can still do Drok's runs, and you can still pressure in PvP (just dont try to play tank , you'll get laughed at)
Higher AL, Stances, Armor boosting skills, and having Absorption PERIOD.
No big loss here...

After all the whine posts about this so called nerf I went and did a hydra run in Skyward Reach. I didnt see any damage difference whatsoever even with six hydras on me at once smacking me around with meteor, inferno, fireball, and melee. If your worried about -2 dmg while in a stance or -3 while hexed you got some serious issues and quite frankly need to learn how to adapt.

Funniest thread ever... as a warrior i will point blank refuse to strike over something so trivial... if this change stops you being able to be as effective then it's your fault, not the armour change... also this is a fair change imo, i strongly support the anet team in doing this... go cry about it if you disagree with me...
For all the people whining that protective spirit won't block the extra damage incurred by the lack of absorption. You do realize that the extra damage is attached to a main form of damage (i.e. Fireball, Lightning Orb, etc.), and will be prevented by protective spirit?
If you've got a monk who can't handle healing an extra 7 damage per hit when you're already taking very little damage to begin with, it's time to find a new monk.
I'll admit it I was pretty pissed off when I first heard about this damage reduction change. Then I took my warrior to stance tank in a 4 man farming group in Eternal Grove (explorable), which is full of elementalists and other casters I realized that this didn't take away any of my effectiveness. I'm not even going to bother changing my 15k Canthan Knight's boots because I would rather not pay 15k and materials just for 1 more point in energy.

You can find me in Vasburg Armory if you need a warrior

Hooked on phonics ....
Read my post again ... FIRST STRIKE SKILL. If your opponent has "very low AL" unless you are farming Ascalon or beating up on noobs when does this actually happen? OMG you can pwn Charr!!!!!!!! Between warriors like yourself and the Eles posting here this thread will go no where. If you are counting on luck as part of your strategy please do not ever play PvP. Bottom line the high adrenaline cost of the main attack skills means we have to be able to SURVIVE long enough to use them. Read, think and then post.

If you can't survive long enough to do it, then you need a monk. This is a team game remember? Deal with it or just leave, nobody will be missing you.

Hugs and kisses to you as well.
Yes, this is a team game and this will have an effect on the entire team. Will monks be getting an extra 10 energy to compensate for the increased heals required? Considering the volume of antiwarrior skills out there I doubt Ele's needed another buff.
there are a few having hysterics on forums but only a few.
is it possible that most of them are playing the game and didnt even see what the update was and are still blissfully having fun without even noticing that they have been fatally nerfed?
My Monk has been doing just fine so far, thank you very much. To be honest I did not notice any difference in the amount of Heal I was required to use.
I'd much rather have an ele on my ass than a warrior. I can get out of their range before they even finish casting their first spell and unlike the warrior, the ele only becomes worst the longer the fight takes (no energy and exhaustion).

Flawed logic ftl.
Less than 5 percent of GW players ever visit a fansite. Most people (aka the silent majority) eventually just get fed up and find a new game without ever visiting a fansite. The bulk of fansites are populated by forum trolls that spend more time on fansites than actually playing the game (not trying to offend anyone and not naming ANYONE ... but it is what it is). Non flattering view points concerning Anet are not particularly welcome here or on any fansite. Anet refuses to host their own forums to allow people to vent so it is difficult to convey unhappy without being attacked for it. Posters need to be unbiased enough to not let their love of the game cloud the facts.
Everyone is so quick to dismiss the fact that many of us have a LARGE investment in our equipment. My perfect Eternal -2 -2 was a 350k shield in it's prime wonder ... what it is worth after that nerfdate. That is one of many shields that are now obsolete courtesy of this nerfdate. Buy new equipment right? Where do we store yet another weapon/shield set? Will Anet buy me new FOW boots since mine are now worthless? Waiting 14 months to correct an "armor glitch" ... woot impressive response time Anet!
I like how when people argue about something when it comes to Guild Wars the "silent majority" is always on your side and the "outspoken minority" is always against you no matter what stance you take.

Thats the most disturbing aspect of this, the fact that it took them so long to say "it was a mistake". I am sure they could have taken down knights armor out altogether from all crafters if they couldn't fix it. They add and remove things every so often anyway so to say it took them that long to realise and finally fix this "bug" is either a lie or total coverup for their incompetance.

Irresistible Blow will do 119 dmg if it criticals on an AL 60 target. 5 energy, 4 second recharge. It does 124 dmg with a vamp mod and 137 dmg if your sundering mod kicks in. You asked, I showed.
Are PvE groups gonna shun tanks because of this update? Nope.
Are we gonna see fewer tanks in GvG b/c of this update? Nope.
Are solo farmers gonna be affected? A little at least.
Eles in most high level GvGs usually aren't focused on damage dealing. You usually see a Water Ele who slows and blurs vision. Or an Air Ele who blinds and occasionally spikes. And a lot them end up flag running and spamming Heal Party. If anything, this update might result in more damage dealing Eles in GvG, but certainly not a reduction in warriors.
The update also changed Elemental Attunement, thus fast cast Eles have been nerfed as well. So wars won't have to worry about a crazy quick spike from Me/Eles.
Also this update in some way makes the Sentinel's armor a more worthwhile option when facing Elemental damage.
The additional 7 damage adds up, but mostly affects solo farmers than anybody else. My tank is still up and running with no problems. I'm guessing your tank will be doing the same.
P.S. I'm not in the 'deal with it' crowd or the people that think that Anet has never made a mistake. If anything annoys me about this update, it's the timing. This issue should have been fixed a long time ago. Now that people have their 15k armors or FoW sets, it's unfair to them to have to get another set or piece. I was considering other armor types but Gladiator's armor seemed like a no brainer, esp. for PvE. This update has changed that. However, the thought of shelling out the money for a new 15k set of armor is painful.
I suggest they put in new traders where you can exchange your 1.5k or 15k Kurzick or Luxon or Imperial or FoW Chestpiece/Helmet/Gauntlets/etc. for a piece of the same value with different stats. This way we can get rid of our 15k glads for sentinels or whatever we like. Not gonna happen. Although, I think it's fair, still not gonna happen.
