The end of the road for the Rt and the A?
Since as far as I have heard from the general chatter, there are not going to be any new skills, abilities, improvements to ritualists and assassins in Nightfall, does this mean that once everything has been done in factions, Ritualists and Assassins have reached the end of the road and the end of their playability? I was under the general impression that Anet wanted us to keep playing.
If this is true, and my beautiful ritualist doesnt get anymore skills, etc, I am not sure that I am willing to get Nightfall for another 2 dead-end classes.
I have also heard that there would possibly Rt and A upgrades in Ch4, but I have not had it confirmed.
Can someone clear up these issues?

Don't be a fool. My sin will be feasting on the flesh of both Paragons and Dervishes.

I don't think it's a big deal. I mean, you can always take the new professions as secondaries for your A or Rt.
Besides, there are so many worthwhile skills to get as secondaries already, that kept my Prophecies characters very busy in Factions. I would actually welcome a break on new skills and abilities for all existing classes for a chapter or two.

I wouldn’t be so quick to jump on that band wagon of speculation. Anet favor’s PvP a bit more then PvE, so in order for the Ritualist’s and Assassin’s to still be competitive in PvP there is going to have to be new skills added for them.

lol the sin has dmg taking issues for a melee class and lacks decent self heals or evades. However if played right is a fairly decent class.
the ritualist.... lol is by far the most powerful class, capable of spiking, protection, and healing. A good RT can change the outcome of a battle.
if anything i say rt's need a little nerfing and sins need a decent buff to skill recharges and to their armor/damage taking abilities.

I don't see what the big deal is. You will still be able to take your character through future chapters, make new rits and assassins, participate in PvP, and their skills will still be updated when required. No new skills or armor is not the end of your character.

I actually do believe that only the core classes will get updated regularly. You can still take your Assassin and Ritualist to Chapter 3/4/5 etc. but I doubt they will get updated. The only reason I think they would get updated is if something in the newer professions made something unbalanced.

GW Nightfall was just recently announced, when factions was first announced there was no info save the two new professions, also if they dont add new A and RT skills its very unlikely that they will add any skills to the core proffessions.

Just curious if anyone has and can post where it was specifically stated by Anet that they will not support Assassins and Ritualists in Nightfall. If so, then there would be no reason at all to bring them over into Chapter 3, since they won't benefit at all from being there. I'm not going to bother bringing over characters that are basically obsolete.
Maybe we won't be able to create sins or rits in Nightfall, but they'll still be able to receive new armor, skills and weapons? Just a thought.

From what I have read here and on guildwars.com (or net or watever it is), chapter specific classes won't recive ANY support in future chapters which, if this is true (and I really hope it isn't), then many people won't bring rits and assassins to nightfall, or any other new chapters, and most will probably just delete their chapter specific classes and only make core ones because there will be no new skills, armors, weps, or anything else for them, meaning they will get boring.
I really hope that arena net changes their mind about this so we end up worrying over nothing, or I too will probably delete any chapter specific classes (eventually ) and have only core ones and then pvp slots.
Part of the fun of GW is getting new skills and weps and armors so you can expiriment with new builds and keep the classes fun. Without support for these classes, we won't be able to have new builds and such for chapter specific classes and they would eventually get boring.
Ya, they can go to the new chapters, but what is the point if you have used all the good builds for a class so much, that those builds are now boring, and there will be no more new things to make those builds interesting again and make new good builds to play.
If arena net does stop support for chapter specific classes after their chapter is made, I will be really dissapointed, but I will still continue to support a great game, just not with as much enthusiasm.

Agreed.
Anet WON'T ignore previous professions if they are playable in PvP. They will get new skills. No doubt. It would be stupid of them NOT to. What's the point of adding a new class if its useless. That's a complete waste of time.
Ritualists and Assassins have proved to be useful if used CORRECTLY. I Have taken plenty of Rits when Monks weren't available and it worked fine. I've also took more than one with two different focused skill sets in mind and it still worked. I have also seen some rare breed assassins too.
So don't write them out just because they are exclusive to a certain chapter. They are gonna make skills for them exclusive to NightFall just like the rest and they are gonna only be accessible through linking the CD Keys just like Factions was.

In response to the OP:
I haven't actually seen where A-Net said this, but I'm pretty sure they said there would be chapters where they didn't include new classes.
If this is indeed the case, they may decide to provide new skills and updates for all previous classes in these chapters. So Sins and Rits likely won't dead end. You'll just have to wait for the appropriate chapters.

yeah they will HAVE to add new skills to rits and assassins in order to allow the classes to compete with the new skills that the dervish and paragon will have. I bet there will be new assassin skills to stop paragon shouts and probably spirits that have something to do with the dervish demi-god transformation. Think about what happened with mesmers and spirits; unnatural signet anyone? Anet has no choice but to expand on ALL the previous classes in order to maintain balance in the game.
I dont think you will have to worry about your rit or assassin swirling the bowl, I don't think its going to be happening anytime soon.

The fact is the core professions are present in every continent. Assassin and Ritualist are professions specific to Cantha. So you can't expect a continent that never had that profession to have weapons and armor for them.

They could update the core campaign with a few (say, 11 normal + 4 elite) skills for every chapter that's out. That would create a problem, tho, in that the newest classes would always have fewer skills. As in, if Rt+A get updated now, they will already have some more skills than P+D, and then when chapter 4 comes out, if there are new classes, those will have less skills than P+D, which in turn will have less skills than Rt+A, which will still have a lot less skills than the core classes...
