My thoughts exactly. He is giving us ideas on how we can profit and make money ourselves. Why all the hostility towards this blatant act of kindness? It's not like he's posting that pic and saying "NAH NAH NAH IM RICH YOU AREN'T". So if you don't like what he's saying, keep it to yourself.

Exactly. His system works. I just run regular salvage kits and hit the noob areas post-searing, where a bow is only worth 6 gold, but 6 wood can be worth 36-54 depending on the market. Obviously if you try and do this in some high level area, the drops will be worth more than the salvage, but it will take longer and you really don't need the exp.

so you would recomend finding a spot where everything is weak but there are lots of them and farming those and salvaging the drops that sounds like a good idea any suggestions for spots. good post.

Well, keep in mind - drops in the tougher areas can get you steel and other rare materials. In the early areas you won't get much of that - mostly common raw materials.

This is a great little trick.

www.thenugs.com/tsukitrick2.avi

This works best with a elementalist

1. Get to Kryta Gates, go into mission solo.

2. Go straight out through the doors and go left through the open fence area. Here you will find a pig named Oink, click on him he will "oink".

3. Then drag him around the backside of the house to a treasure chest, then head down the hill.

4. Pull the first hell hound that you see he'll be at the bottom of the hill and a little to the left most the time, you will also get aggro from a gruop of ghouls so be ready. Soon as they all aggro run up the hill almost to the very top and wait for piggy to move closer to you. He will drag the mobs with him. Now nuke away.

5. Once those are dead a HUGE massive train of mobs will come barreling down toward you, they will all aggro the piggy except the 3 necro casters. What i do is simply go farther up the hill till oink pulls the mobs up on the little straightaway, now the casters can't see you but you can nuke the group of mobs. If some of the mobs come off the pig and after you just simply run around in little half moon motions around the pig and they will reagro the pig. Just nuke, rinse and repeat.

you'll just have to play around with it to find your "method" of keeping the mobs on the pig, i have better luck standing way far back and giving them a minute to aggro pig, then nuke the crap out of them.

Its not a bug. We have talked about it since when the game was released. Thing is, even though hes immortal, the moment you hit the guys around him, they come at you.

Well today I had some luck. I was helping a friend to get through a mission, a gold bow max dmg dropped for my friend, and a gold hammer not max dmg dropped for me. The hammer isn't to great, but my friend gave me the bow cause he didn't need it. So I identified it and it looked pretty good. So I went to Lions Arch and tried to sell it. I was trying to sell it for about 20 minutes, mainly because I needed room. And I sold for 21k! I'm not poor anymore
I've been using expert salvage kits on some random drops and have gotten steel ingots. At the moment I have 9 of them. I have to many hammers in my storage, but nobody seems to want to buy them. Probably because they're two handed weapons, eventhough they do more damage. I wish that I could sell them. I also wish that I could sell my minor runes. The best ones that I have are a Minor Vigor rune and a Warriors Rune of Minor Absorption. I have no idea of the worth of those items though. Right now I'm at Thirsty River and I'm level 19 and 79% of the way to level 20. I tried to do the Fissure when America was winning, but I couldn't do for long. Had to get off.
But when I was in there, two 14 piles of glittering dust dropped, a Chaos Axe dropped (5-27). I only got a bow in there. I was actually the one who lived the longest, and I was only level 18 at that time... but then the ghost guy died. Thats the only reason we lost
I still don't get many items worth keeping drops, and I've been farming around 5 hours a day 7 days a week for 4 weeks. But someday I hope that I can get a good weapon and shield.

Also about the Fissure... is there any armor add-on, like getting armor infused, that will make it easier to live in the Fissure?

I've been collecting wood and stuff like that to sell as you all sugested, and right now I have 164 Iron Ingots, 256 bones, 94 Bolts of Cloth, 45 Tanned Hide Squares, and 13 piles of glittering dust.
I'm probably going to try to sell those to some person other than a NPC, or I'll just hold on to them until I see someone wanting to buy them. That should make me a few K's I hope.

I also hope that I can sell my dumb hammers and my staff wrapping and axe upgrades so that I might have a little room in my storage. Oh well.

Did you catch the trader buying 10 cloth for 145 gold and 10 tanned hides for 105 earlier tonight? I was like... PAYDAY! I love this system. I get to enjoy the game and not farm, but anything cheap that does drop I can turn into plat later on by salvaging and hording it.

Yeah, I'm blunt, I know. Farming just plain isn't fun. There are ways to make money that are nearly as good that are infinitely more fun. For example: Fissure runs. I'm lucky I guess, so that might be part of why I think this, but you can make a hell of a lot of money from Fissure runs. I've ran it... oh, 10, 15 times. I started with like... oh 500 gold. Now I have 20k, a ruby, five shards, and I think around 10 max dmg bows, axes, and swords. Add to this all the incredibly easy experience, and how fun it is to run the Fissure... and I'm of the opinion that, as I said before, farming is stupid.

And why are you "running the fissure"? Quests? ha! hate to break it to you, but thats farming. and why are you posting in a thread about farming if you dont like it (even though you "....oh, do it all the time" )

Anyways im into the rare materials farming myself. 25k in around 3 hours isnt to bad. if you have any towns with a rare materials trader, find a crafter , get creative. Sorry but thats all ill tell thought, i dont need the whole world killing the market on the rare materials i farm

Exactly! In fact cloth topped at 155. Now it's back down to 30.

Heh, guess I hit it at the right time then, cause I was selling cloth at 140 and hide squares at 115...

Also noticed that Steel and Iron went from 135 and 50 respectively to 195 and 115 during my playtime earlier.

Seriously guys, if you hoard up your raw materials, you can sell them for SEEEEEERIOUS money. My stash had fallen to about 2.5 after a couple purchases (Amoon's Wyrm armor set and a max damage Zealous Fellblade or Fortitude), and after dumping off most of my materials at a peak price period I'm sitting comfy at 21 k.

Agreed. Some like to hunt and discover new areas and new builds that only work in that area. Other come up with naked dance-parties, while some of us are wasting money to see if they can make a nice silvery-pink armor.

And I'm guessing that the friends that you're helping are good at PvP. Everyone has his qualities: if we all do what we're good at (instead of trying things we're not good at), we'd all be happy..... or something.

Btw, I just found a new method: I wanted to complete every Bonus in the game and started all over at Ascalon/Frontier Gate etc. The drops I'm getting now are insane: Major Runes, Gold/Purple Max Dmg items etc. etc. Seems like Anet is rewarding me for a. doing the bonus mission and b. helping ppl doing the mission

Funny thing's been happening lately - especially today.

I've noticed the quality of my drops drastically decline since I posted about hitting the big million. Maybe it's just my paranoia but I suspect I might have been flagged to slow my financial growth. Seems unfair since I don't bot or exploit the game in any fashion. I put a lot of work and time to formulate my earning mechanism. If that's the case, I'm just gonna retire from GW completely - because there's really no point in playing if I'm just gonna get bones and orr emblems from now on.

So my possible last piece of advice to y'all is - if you happen to be successful at any part of the game - don't post about it or draw attention to yourself.

Good luck.

I've been getting equipment for my guildies, investing in commodities and figuring out new ways to make money. So it's no longer a million.

For me it's a nice challenge to manage an investment portfolio. Some players like PvP, but this is my specialty. But if GW chooses to apply, what is essentially, a socialist mechanism to curtail the rewards of effective capitalism, then what's the point of trying?

Personally I find making money and optimizing my cash flow and taking advantage of the economy fun. I am trying to get the 15k sets and later the fissure sets and I don't have time to play too each day so I learn to optimize.

This is a very interesting post. Actually, I find those posts with those farming videos very misleading. I tried copying one of them and I was amazed when I slaughtered 30-40 monsters in a few minutes and got a few crappy rares and alot of gold and collector items (which I sold for small amounts). In my experience, most rares are not that good. Just because you get 20 of them doesn't mean you will get that 5:1 Vampiric bow string, I usually salvage or sell my gold/purple items. Not a bad run, but considering I can only do 2 or 3 of these runs before the monsters run dry on loot, they are useless in the long term goal of a complete set of 15k armor or possibly complete set of fissure armor.

The economics of the traders are flawed in that they do not take into account for expectations. They only care about the simple supply and demand of the current time interval. There should be no reason for the material prices to suddenly spike up to 200 from the usual 30, since in general the number of warriors doesn't change dramatically over a day (so iron prices shouldn't change either). However, when by chance two parties of warriors arrive at Draknor's and decides to go all out in buying the best armor so they can continue onto the next quests, there would be a huge boost in the demand for iron/steel and their prices skyrocket to a point where nobody is willing to buy any more. Or when guild pink decides to start dying all their armors a different shade of pink the demand for red dye skyrockets. There is no reason to expect that the demand for iron or red dye would stay at these surprisingly high values for more than a minute, yet the traders radically adjust their prices to levels so high until nobody can afford to buy any more. The flawed logic from the economic point of view is that the traders expect the demand to stay so high, which is why they are willing to buy materials from you for about 80% of their ridiculously high price. (Ex: if a toy store gets amazingly high sales during Christmas, they don't stockpile an even larger amount, they expect that demand would probably be lower than normal after Christmas because everybody has new toys already). Abuse for the people who understand the economics.

To be more specific - I'm even having a much tougher time gathering even some common raw materials, if you can believe that. And it's not just one spot but it's in at least 7 different areas that I frequent. I'd honestly rather pay some income tax on my earnings rather than see my diverse sources of revenue crippled.
