Warriors identify themselves with their big badass weapon (dirty harry's big-assed gun, rambo's guns-out-of-the-arse, arnold's mini-gun).
The most powerful class (opinion, but shared amongst others as well) in the game (pve-wise) currently is the Spiteful/Shivers/MM/Touch-Kill necromancer (not all of the above, but from the above). There's not much they can't do. In the recent past tanks have been used as book carriers, torch bearers, keg poppers, etc. Cut them some slack and at least let them have something in their favor (a badass looking weapon and/or shield of some sort).
Disclaimer: this post doesn't say that there aren't other 'good' combinations of classes or that 'you' have a problem with your class in particular (as some people will read into that).

Did u read the first post, or just throw urself at the topic hoping to land on your feet, cos I gotta tell you, if you did....you missed.
He wasnt talking about class combinations, or their use, or how they get into parties, he was talking about weapon drops...
Persoanlly I have always experienced a greater number of weapon drops in the staff region, and more shields than focii. Which is annoying as I like wands better than staffs, and obvioously im down on my focci count.
But the weapons I do get for caster tend to be useless, or very poor skins, Amber Staff anybody? not much design in that one. There are/were 100s of staff designs throughout history, Ritu staffs, particarly the pre-order one was great, it had bits on it that didnt make it look like a magical item made from a walking cane and sparkles.
The trouble with designing a wand/staff is that there isnt alot to skin, your basic moddle cant be too far off a long pole, maybe some dangly bits etc, but there it is, a pole. Now from that theres not alot of ways to go.
Now look at the axe, theres many different ways to model them, let alone skin them, Totem, Keineng, Pickaxe, just to name a few all of totaly different models ad skins. theres alot more room to play around in when you get to put a big chunk of steel on the end.
Personally I think Anet probably had one of it's early morning / late night meetings, possibly with a voodoo doll involved of someone famous, and looking at it they go their end game green focci, probably thought we'd love it, all coo over the little straw man. OOOOOOOPS.
You never know, with 2 new mainly meelee focused classes coming in, they could suprise us with alot of focci work, as there needs to be mroe skins for it. although remember that focci is 1 weapon set, which can have loads of different reqs, so a few skins can do, whereas each weapon with a forced req (bows, swords, daggers etc) is going to need a 'few' skins too, and that can make it look like alot more.

Yeah, and until this guy who needs it finds it, he's not getting 1 ever. Personally i'd rather sell it a merchant than it waste a space in my inventory... It'd be nice if they actually made it so all staffs/rods/foci had to have 2 mods, it'd cut out at least some of the random shit you find. Req 8 Earth, 20% Recharge Smiting, no 2nd mod. Instant merch item...

After the warrior nerf and the state assassin are in, I think Anet is actually alot more bias against melee
you can't have the best of both worlds! Melee gets cool looking weapons and armor while they get pwned by almost any other class (of course this depends heavily on the player as well) while you get caster with ugly weapons but can actually put up a better fight (most of the time).

Anyhow,
One of my guildies got a staff that was:
Light Damage 11-22 (Requires 12 Smiting Prayers)
Halves skill recharge of Domination Magic spells (Chance: 19%)
Halves casting time of Earth Magic spells (Chance 19%)
At first glance you may think this staff useless. But if you look closely, you can see that is is a good staff for a Elementalist with a mesmer secondary.
Simply use Earth Magic for damage, and then use Domination Magic to disable your ememies. This way you can devestate them with damage, while making them unable to do anything about it. The weapon damage on a staff is never a big issue.
So some of these staffs may apear useless, but can in fact be used to some effect.

Whoever thought that 3 class bonuses was a good idea was sadly mistaken.
Wanding damage is not a big issue, but i rather not have something with smiting damage if i am going to be wanding, rather get a collectors staff.
Also, you cant disable your enemies and do massive damage to them. Any stupid bozo on an opposing team would get healed by something. Also, most elementalists dont need 1/2 skill recharge on a mesmer skill, because its secondary, and usually, secondaries are support, not as important as primaries. IMO - A staff for an earth ele, collectors edition, with:
11-22 req 9 earth damage
Halves Skill recharge of Earth Magic Spells (Chance 20%)
Halves Casting time of Earth Magic Spells (Chance 20%)
+60 HP (2 Fort mods)
Would be better suited for an Ele. Now, this is PvP wise that im talking, for PvE, I dont know what you all run that would disable an enemy with mesmer skills and devestate him with damage. Diversion + Energy Burn FTW? :P

Melee gets pwned by almost any other class? Melee as in Warrior? Warrior doesnt get pwned by monks, warrior doesnt get pwned by assassins, warrior doesnt get pwned by ritualists. A good ele with Blinding flash can easily own one, but thats not being nerfed, thats just a fact. A good Necro can spam warrior hate, and a mesmer, well, Im not too proficient with them against warrior, but im sure they can screw them up real good :P. Mabye some slowdown and then Conjure Phasam. However you spell it :P . But thats how the classes are, you cant expect to pwn a blinding flash ele with a warrior, unless you knock them down and own them in that time window :P

Yes, yes they are. ANet are biased against casters. Between Rangers and Warriors there are more skins than between all the casters. There are also about double the number of greens for Rangers and Warriors than there are for casters. Warrior/Ranger weapon skins also look nicer. The only real nice caster skins are the Platinum Staff and Holy Branch. No wand, no offhands, just 2 staves.

Wait a minute... surely this is PvP unbalance!? NERF!
PvE characters can bring in specialist items with mods for different things. They nerfed the rockmolder... now sort out these shitty mods on staffs that possibly 1 person in the entire European server needs.

It'd be really, really nice if caster items actually had some sense to them when they drop. Especially with all the new, nice models available in Cantha (elementalist and monk staves, namely).
You still get junk on shields and other fighter weapons, though. Drop quality needs another nudge IMO. Casters especially.

They need to make it so that caster weapons can only drop with attributes from one profession...
