Yes, people are still playing.
And I see a lot of Factions players playing in Prophecies too.
*hint*
It's worth still playing

Tyria > Cantha
Tyria is so farming friendly compared to Cantha

do it! prophecies is like 1000x better than factions. also, there are certain skills that are only attainable in prophecies that are almost requirements for certain classes. (i.e. Ele - Ether Prodigy)

I play Prophacies PvE as much as I did before Factions was released, and I even play it as much as I play Factions PvE now. I don't. All characters through the games, and UAX means I just stand around, help guildies wherever they are, or PvP.

Started a necromancer yesterday; currently level 8, and I expect to hit at least level 11 before I go to bed tonight.
Tyria for the win. ^__^

I agree with the general consensus, Cantha had the usual "new" attraction but just isn't as fun. Tyria is much more beautiful and I like the wide open spaces. I live in a cramped dirty city, why would I want to spend loads of gaming time in one?
Started a new ranger in Tyria yesterday. Pre sear is very busy still.

Nothing in Factions compares to the scenery in Prophecies, so that's what draws me back there every time.

I just made a new ranger in tyria with the char slot I bought. I'll keep it til I can use the slot for Nightfall. Whenever I think GW, the memories will always bring me back to good ol' Tyria...

The wierd thing is my canthan necro now pretty much does nothing but prophecies, while my prophecies characters now pretty much do nothing but cantha.

I recently got the Defender of Tyria title. Since then I go back to farm and help guildies with missions. I'm wondering if I want to spend the next few months getting that last 40% of the map uncovered. I also have two elites I still need to cap in the Shiverpeaks.
So yeah...I still play prophecies.

Yep, I agree - armor is better and the characters are overall more appealing to the eye.

The graphics aren't so nice either.

Yea, that's what I've been experiencing too. Not sure if it was because of the new UI update, though. For me, it has more to do with choppiness in graphics.

yeah, people haven't really figured out factions too much yet it seems. i wish there was a more seemless map but that's complicated. i pretty much farm both and really only pvp in cantha. factions is worth it if for nothing else than alliance battles and maybe aspenwood. the green-farming is way more efficient than sf and the elite missions don't cost 1000g to enter. Prophecies is good for the whole mindless-farming you can do while holding a conversation with people. i also like that there's incentive for people to get to the "end" of the elites in factions. i've never had the chance to clear underworld or fow even because i never find anyone wanting to do it.
i bought 2 character slots and started a tyrian mesmer and a canthan necro (since i don't have either). my mesmer's annoying because ascalon puts me to sleep (omg, between beta weekends, extra accounts and showing friends the game...do you realize how many times a person can do Great Northern Wall? they should make it a title...i've done it like 50+ times easily and sick of it). got the necro to 17 before leaving the island pretty easily. i'm going to take both through the factions campaign first anyway because...you get the amulets at the end and i want the 15k canthan for both of them.
i'll finish prophecies on them when i really feel like i gotta have aura of the lich and whatever mesmer skill's there...panic or whatever. good to have both but factions has more goodies in it...do people still not take mesmers in their mission groups? is this going to suck?

play
I play In Cantha alot more than Tyria. I just like some of the scenery in the Kurzick area...finally people as pale as me, i am truly home. I love prophesies, but of the 2165 hours i have played, i spend over 1800 there and am kind of bored of it. I wish Tyria was a bit denser though, but eh well. I dont really farm, so i have no weight to add to either. it may sound a bit arbitrary, but i like some of the enemies in factions, it seems like a bit more of a challenge in some areas. Overall i dont regret buying it for both of my accounts...I will probably make another character soon, havent decided where though...

Factions had a big problem with faces in my opinion. Seems all but two or three faces for each male class were cross-eyed.
Not exactly what I would call "appealing"
:edit: seems you can't say c.ock-eyed
