QFT. I'm quite surprised we havent seen more cape emblems abd styles added. Not to mention it would be a considerable improvement to have a full range color picker rather than the current color picking method.

It's been mentioned before but how in the hell did that beaver one win. It looks like it's been drawn by a nursery (kindergarten) kid and is seriously lacking in artistic talent compared to almost all of the others.
In fact I'd say all of the runner up ones are superior to that one. Here's a tip for the next competition like this: enter a joke attempt, it's more likely to win compared to any real effort. As you can see, I'm no fan of so-called Modern Art either

I'd want all of those listed, especially mini figurines to line up on my PC desk..

No idea, but well said. This game is about the public, yet the majority of the public said they hate that stupid ugly beaver drawing. Does ANet ever listen? No. Just look at the Suggestions forum, that's proof enough.

I guess the thing that bothers me, is the fact that most all the winners are so random. We get a beaver, a squirrel, some fish, and a tree. What does that have to do with any theme of this game? Yet the HM's have actual Asian themes to them. And to be a contest for Factions, which is asian, why would you exclude ALL of the Asian emblems. Maybe I just haven't come across that many beavers in Asia.

Were not the new greens added (totem axe, et al) Honorable mentions from the weapon design contest?

Beaver is kind of funny I dont mind it at all. It has a silly factor people like.
...anyway they should have contrusted way where you could fully custimize your cape but it has to be submitted for approval first. There's just not enough customizability in this game.

That "bar" was lowered by the best in the business, the members of the Guild Wars Team, of which none take games and game art so seriously that they can't enjoy a good laugh, too.
I suggest you consider them a role model and not take things so seriously.
If someone entered and did not win, I'm sorry. If somone didn't enter, but think we need to aim for a certain look and feel, I'm sorry, but in any judged event, there will no doubt be things with which one can disagree. I've never seen a diving competition, or a skating meet, or anything in the Olympics, ever, with which I couldn't take some issue. Any judged event by its very nature means that you're going with the judgment of others. In this case, the members of the Development Team for Guild Wars chose an image that someone love, some hate, and some find baffling for its selection.
End of the day, the judges spoke, and I feel the judges were fully and completely entitled to speak. I have no regrets for inviting them to judge the contest connected with the game that they developed. And as I said, I highly doubt that one smile-inducing image has set the pattern for the downfall or the degradation of future contests. Or the downfall of the Western World, either, come to think of it.

Gaile shall smite thee. hehe. How dare you question the authority of "the best in the business"?
PS. I want a Gaile Gray miniature. Then I can pwn her all night long. In a good way of course.

Ok the beaver was funny for about a nano-second. But the winner ? Best in the business, eh ? What in, exactly ?

There is nothing wrong with the Beaver. My Guild chose it, as it's eccentricity fits our our Guild's personality...and really, that's all that matters.
Some of our members, mostly non-North Americans, thought it was a squirrel, so it became a Sqeaver...odd, I know, but again, it works for us.

To be honest, I'm surprised so many people are concerned with a guild emblem...
No one is forcing any of you to use the emblem. It's there for comedic purposes.
Besides, this isn't the first time that ANet had some fun with certain elements of the game...
My two cents...

Well, I might not have to use it, but I certainly will have to *see* it ~_^ As for me, I'm just glad they didn't find a burly naked dude amazingly funny that particular evening.
And I don't care if people are gonna consciously submit poorly-drawn garbage from now on, heh. I'm sure there's enough poorly-drawn emblems in every contest anyway. I'm still gonna draw proper stuff and get me more skill pins or hats or whatever ^_^

Though the guild emblem shown in the OP looks very nice indeed, it probably didn't get chosen because it was too complex. The emblem can only be so big, and it has to be simple enough that it doesn't look too bad when texture quality is set to low, or when the cape is being viewed from far away by another player. An emblem being over-complex is something they have to consider when choosing the winners.

Well my beef with the beaver is that 1) it seems really out of place when seen in the game and 2) how many guilds with a play on the word "beaver" are we going to get now?
Yeah, it's drawn like poo, but it does look pretty funny. Just doesn't feel like a proper GW emblem is all. There *is* a lot to be said for immersiveness in game design, and this beaver is certainly inconsistent with that goal.
