I was looking through the official Japanese GW site (for one reason or another.....) and amongst the sea of Japanese characters I didn't understand; the words 30 day card kept popping up. It piqued my interest so I used the google translation tool.

In one of the interviews with jeff strain they asked about this. The ability to play free is worldwide, you buy the game your good. In places where buying the actual game is kind of crazy and everyone plays monthly fees, or does not own their own computer so they play with prepaid cards. I don't believe it is offered in america or really anywhere in the western hemisphere.

The goal was to make it so you do not have to pay, but there are places where it just makes more sense and it is available there.
