I think people who won't become dervishes because everyone else is or let them in their group are idiots. Do what you WANT. I'm going to be a dervish because they look cool, and honestly, none of the paragon's skills interest me in the slightest.

Well, you can just change to a Ritualist o.o
I figure eventually it will just be a certain mission that you need to beat to get access to the underworld. Maybe like a "checkpoint boss of less evil" :P

It is a bit silly, isn't it? We're all power craving, esteem-boost needing, naive kids in ANet's eyes. Least in games like Baldur's Gate they let you choose what you wanna do with divinity. In GW, it's pretty much forced on you. Like it or not, you gonna be kicking a god's (or goddess's) butt in an attempt to take their place on the pantheon pretty soon. Oh wait, Nightfall had an outcast god in it? There you go! You kill the god and you become a god... and... then since there has to be least a few more GW chapters, you get kicked to the curve by the Tyrian gods and... then you spend the next few chapters ascending and all that to get your divinity back... and... then you murder all other gods... and... become the one and only ALMIGHTY deity of the er... world. Thats it.

To OP: I see what you mean, it is kind of ridiculous that we keep having to ascend in different ways.
At least they were nice enough so far to provide a plausible excuse for making already-ascended people have to get weh no su (to be able to see/fight shiro) and to put unique weapons (celestial stuff) in the mission so it's slightly less annoying to ascend a second time. Ascending again could have been presented in a much more annoying and stupid way, so I don't particularly mind the way they did it, and hopefully they can come up with even better reasons and rewards if they do make us do it a third time

And concerning the Weh no Su well it opened your mind to enable you to see spirits again not that much of a power boost
So sorry but I don't believe we've been turned into gods we just acquired a slightly better sense and are on the gods soap channel

one word - sacrasm (spelling lol?)
still It should be more fun, i dont wanna kill stuff - I want another snowball fight or a puzzle, to ascend in nightfall you should be asked a riddle byt he sphinx and have to go into a temple to find the answer....Like the answer could be a sword so you have to go into a temple filled with items (and i suppose foes) and bring back the sword...I dunno im just fed up of ascending

From your answer you're not fed up of ascending, you're fed up with the method used to ascend you. Well lets hope to gods that prefer to watch a quiz to a gladiator battle, unfortunately from the programs I see on TV I guess they're just like mankind

I assume we will be gods or "god-like" once we've gone through enough chapters that go through the enite "GW World". Since every chapter is a new continent.

I hope ascension doesn't become a standard plot device for Anet. I mean, how many times will my guy have to get closer to the stars/ ascend before he can take on anybody? I know the Canthan mission gave a slightly different boost(let you see Shiro), but it would get kinda old after awhile. Maybe after this next chapter(where the new ascension could give you powers to mesh with the other two to help beat outcast god or something) they'll introduce a new way to get to UW and FoW without having to reuse ascension with a different name.

I would like to see someone say "Oh, you have already ascended, you can skip this part" type of thing. Maybe make ascending part of getting out the n00b zone, so I don't have to do it a 3rd time.

How do we even know there will be access to the underworld at all in Nightfall?
The Gods should already be watching the Paragon and Dervish.
Paragon because they are holy warriors and Dervish because they are dressing up like them in their holloween costumes when they fight. Wouldn't that get YOUR attention?
I say bring a new underworld into the mix that you can only access after beating the game with no ascension required. FoW should be accessable IN the underworld in Nightfall.
It would still cost of course to get down there.

Hm, Offcourse we have to do some ascending stuff to be able to enter the uw and fow, but i do believe the summary u gave us on the basic story line is not accurate. Anet depends on the players who buy the new chapter, and they have to keep offering new stuff to us, because if we dont like it anymore, we wont buy it, and anet will go broke. At some points, offering a crappy story line, some new weapons, skills, and areas just wont do anymore, so they will have to bring some cool new features/storyline to keep us happy. This means they cán't afford to give us a the same story line over and over again, with just some changes to the location, enemy and heroes.

Yeah a bit like getting your armor fused to take on the Mursaat in GW:Prof. There will always be some kind of task to undertake so you can progress to a pivital moment in the game.

Yeah I see your point when it comes to ascending; I think the way to do it, must be altered. I would like to see a nightmare wraith world, worse then anything like UW or FoW combined (in level design, not difficulty). You know what I mean where everything is up is actually really down, and things go sideways and then backwards. Where every turn, will make you go, “where in god sick and twisted sense of humor am I and the rest of my party.” After which only to see mirror sprits fly after you, as your skills start disappear one by one, off your skill-bar. When you finally lose all of your health, you come back (with all skills), in some never ending hallway with the rest of your teammates. A portal in front of you is your last hope, and all of your team steps through. You are then in a room where space (and I mean the whole outer space thing) surrounds you; from the far reaches above you to your point of view. Clockwork mechanisms below constantly tick away, on some dismal metallic pathway’s which you stand on. Finally the end boss is relatively normal in size, but quickly grows way out of proportion (with every hit), and spawning doppelgangers every minute (or so).
You then ascend, after defeating the wraith; making you wonder should you do that again for fun or should re-analyze your psyche.
